As a former long-time Law Writer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I especially appreciate the narrator's recitation of some classic Statutory Language from Olde England. It's a dialect unto itself. And to maintain sufficient consistency with existing law, and not flush its long-evolved body of judicial interpretation down the toilet, we could not modernize the State legal lingua franca but with careful baby steps. And in New England, in Massachusetts, drafting under the oldest continuously living Constitution in the entire World. uh, yeah, what y'all heard here is still pretty close to the structure and phraseology that I had to maintain for quite a lot of my work. That was a cool job. Different. Very Different.

It was interesting to see F. Scott Fitzgerald's story Bernice Bobs Her Hair description of women in the 1910s decade using the color of red jelly beans to get their lip color in the short film adaptation! In the VHS collection version of The Flintstones on the notes it mentions how Betty and Wilma's lip color changes from red to pink by the second season as a sign of changing fashions!

2: 50 It wasn't like today. Lots of arranged marriages then so they didn't have a chance to see that face in the morning or right after a shower. I think it's fine to say that it's improper to fake your appearance in order to sell your looks as more than they are if someone can't find out until it's too late.

09: 35 - if youre ever in the Los Angeles area, there is an amazing museum dedicated to Max Factor and the make up used during the 1930s and 40s in Hollywood. It is a must visit for anyone who loves the history of makeup, classic movies, and the actresses!

LOLOL men just couldn't stand that lipstick and cosmetics in general on women turned them on! And I'm sure there were plenty of gay men in ancient history who wanted to wear it too. In school, I did a paper on the history of cosmetics. I got an A: )

The 1650 bill to ban lipstick was added to Parliaments schedule, but was never proposed (Ive looked through the schedule. The 1770 law never existed as a bill or legislation passed. These are both historical myths that are continuously perpetuated.

I love how literally everything is about perspective. Wearing a shade of red can make you a witch, a patriot, a harlot, a nobleman, a suffragette and so and so forth, all depending on what popular narrative exists at the time in question.

A lot of bitter feminists in the comments. I would like to point out that the suffragettes thought of lipstick as rebellion against the patriarchy, while 2nd wave considered it oppression. Hypocrisy, thy name is feminism.

I can't believe that there was mandatory lipstick in the marines! These days the American military regulations don't allow anything for feminine, apart from skirts and pumps in the dress uniform.
