February 7, 2020: The Umatilla River flooded, causing much of NE Oregon to be covered by at least two feet of water. I lived in Pendleton at the time, and while my home was on higher ground, all the lower points of the city were washed out, and people evacuated their houses for over a week. Floodwater even caused parts of I-84 to be closed. Governor Brown ultimately declared a state of emergency.
Once the water receded, I and many other volunteers went to help clean mud and debris from people's houses, and some I helped replace fences and hay for farm animals. I don't know exactly how many acres or dollars worth of damage it caused, but it was the most devastating natural disaster I had personally witnessed.

Using back to the future as an example, movies back then often portray the future as a technologically advance and enviable time period. After 2020, it made me feel that the past is more enviable than the future where I had miss the days of breathing clean air without the paranoid fear of getting sick from viruses. If anything, we learned about 2020, it is that we can NEVER trust the World Health Organization or Communist China.
