She had to have been mentally messed up with parents like that. She started life with shitty parents and became a symbol of survival in a male driven world where women of her means did not have access to many options. Was she a gold digger. Probably, but with a messy upbringing and little to 0 future prospects, she didn't roll over and play dead. She played the game with powerful men and won. It's a shame that history doesn't have physical evidence of her mental state through all this. I'd be curious to know how much of her story is really truth or is she the victim of journalism/media painting her as the evil seductress and gold digger.

Honestly from my perspective, There were no innocents or victims here except for Marguerite. Did she have to do all that she did? No, perhaps she went over the top, but girls in her situation were used by the rich and powerful. I think she reminds us just how unfair life has often been for women in the past and still can be. Its obvious she never really found love so she paid a heavy price for comfort. She became jaded as they say. I hope she found peace in some way at the end. Religion has been more critical then God himself ever intended. Ohhh, I also wonder what happened to her daughter.

Can't believe it's the 1st time I am hearing about Maggie. What an interesting woman! I think due to her upbringing she was a hurt human. Mere survival wasn't even in her thoughts. Maybe she was gonna treat life as brutally as it had treated her? Men were a means to an end to live the life she wanted. I see it, but it makes me sad to imagine that. Hope she was happy. I admire her spirit, at least she didn't self destruct!

I've met spiders like this, the trick is not to struggle after finding oneself ensnared. It's best to become boring and indolent. Let her see you as inept, bumbling, and uncouth. She will tire of being stewarded around by a boob and set you free. It will be ''her idea'' for a divorce and she wont be tempted to tack on any emotional abuse.
