The wars and explorations started over trading in and selling spices?
The modern Netherlands has an international cut flower trade, that evolved from the tulip trade. There is also a still life art form using cut flowers, that evolved in the Netherlands and was mainly paintings, but wooden sculpture was done as well. Grinding Gibbons is a fine example of the wooden sculpture art form. So Tulip Mania did leave legacies.
There are true stories of people accidentally poisoned by flower bulbs, that got eaten by mistake, depending on the flower involved some have been fatal.

In the early 2000s, during the height of the Martha Stewart madness, she loved her some hydrangeas. They seemed to feature in all her pics, they can be dried and still look pretty, come in blues, pinks, purples, etc. We had a huge plant in our backyard, so beautiful. We came back from a short trip and SOMEONE had come into our BACK yard and clipped EVERY SINGLE BLOOM. Who does that? I was so pissed. Im still not over it.

The first response was something along the way 'welp thats the free market for ya not going to intervere''

1: 30 So 150 florins then was worth $25, 000 today. And 150 florins then was 10 times a skilled craftsmans annual salary. So today a skilled tradesman earns $2500, right? Wrong. Something doesnt add up there.

Impressed by the old Greek 2 drachma coin (4'57'' - 5' 00'', i think from the 80s/90s! The man with the impresive moustache is Georgios Karaiskakis, a hero of the Greek Revolution (began in 1821)

There must've been scams. People passing off funny-looking garlic bulbs as tulips in dark rooms. Obviously a professional knew what a real tulip bulb looked like but amateur investors wouldn't

You have to get in VERY early to make money on the latest thing. Generally speaking, once you start hearing people brag about how much money they made, it's already too late.

Yes Yes, that's why we have large monumental buildings on the Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht, etc in Amsterdam. Also many country houses of enormous grandeur.

While the idea of tulip trading may seem absurd to us today
No no, spending a house on a flower is actually far less absurd than spending a house on a link tied to a png

My city has a tulip festival every mothers day to honor our dutch heritage. When the city was founded they brought bulbs from the netherlands to plant/trade here.
