What Happened Right After Lincoln Was Assassinated?

Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in April of 1865. The after effects of Lincoln's assassination were immediate. People in the North mourned the loss of their leader, while some in the South rejoiced - and paid a hefty price for doing so. A ripple effect spread through the country over the next few years. Some triumphed in the wake of Lincoln's assassination, while others were left to pick up the pieces of the presidency and mourn. Here's a look into the ramifications of that momentous event. Aaron: If you thought this was cool, you should look for a podcast called 1865. It tells what happened immediately after like an old school audio drama. There is power struggle, a breakdown in government, martial law, and the US almost didn't know how to exist. 1865 podcast. Look it up

How about Abe's birthplace cabin? It's in Kentucky now, in the Abe Lincoln Birthplace NHS. It supposedly also took a tour through the US before being bought by a coalition called the Lincoln Farm Association (who included guys like Samuel Gompers and Mark Twain) to put it where it is now, in this opulent marble building.
You also might want to cover the guys who tried to steal Lincoln's body.
In Illinois when I was a kid, we got both Washington's and Lincoln's birthday off of school.
(And not to be that guy, but by US law, we have a cent, not a penny )

I think my favorite part of the aftermath was that Booth instantly regretted the assassination and while on the run when a Confederate kid who helped him flee asked him what was it like killing the president, he solemnly responded Ain't nothing to brag about.
Also he wrote a angry letter when he read the papers and saw that rather than being hailed as a hero as he hoped, he was insulted and mock as a coward and people wanted him dead, ruining any victory that he hoped to accomplished and giving him a good view of his tarnished future legacy.

It is better to invest now. You will never be younger than you are today and there will never be a perfect time to invest. Due to compounding, which Einstein called the 8th wonder of the world, you can get rich slowly from investing if you do it from a young enough age.

the rabbit-hole for the lincoln assassination is as deep (and likely far less investigated) as the JFK assassination. once you start reading about the timeline and inconsistencies and the players involved, the official narrative just doesn't make sense!

The fatal line was actually: Don't know the manners of good society, eh? Well, I guess I know enough to turn you inside out, old gal you sockdologizing old man-trap! I'm sure it was funny in context.

Well being a resident of Ohio that President Day not being observed is a shock to me. Then again I lived in Mt. Healthy that was a district of its own did honor it and did not go with the norm.

we take it for granted that the country got through it, but it had to be pandemonium, especially since the country had just been to Appomatox after five years of civil war - crazy

I've always wondered what Lincoln would look like in the modern day - he's got such a distinct old-timey look to him.
Imagine him in a hoodie walking around New York

I'm surprised the narrator didn't mention the ensuing witch-hunt following the assassination where dozens of people even remotely connected to the assassination were hung.

Perhaps the video editors can notice their mistake where in the first 5 seconds, the narrator speaks the date in 1865 but the graphic in the corner shows the date 1965.

. a vampire turned an almost dead Lincoln into a vampire and both got recruited to hunt other vampires. this should have been in the video because it all was true
