The rebellion of 1745 also had a lot to do with Roman Catholics in Scotland and the Protestant dynasty on the throne, not to mention, many clans in the highlands were afraid that they would lose authority, and a catholic king on the Scottish throne would still be very good for France. Bonnie prince Charlie sailed to Scotland with 7 men, so he probably wouldve still tried at least (he was meant to come with wayyyyy more men, but hey, if he came with 7 men in our timeline, hed probably still give it a shot)

Nova Scotia was a complete mix of all Europeans pretty much, they weren't any larger number of Scots. Apparently were nice and racist to the local Indians who saved a great deal from starvation the first years of settling. Get your Neil Oliver on if you want to see it. I love the story of the K. K. K. even more. Apparently all of the original founders were of Scottish descent. Again its another Neil Oliver one, Scotland and the KKK.

Here's a video! What if the Union Jack existed under the Scottish parllement?
This is complicated from the get go, cos England was able to unify so much becouse of the romans, and the romans didn't want to colonize Scotland becouse further north had not so good soil, so this would take a unifying force, somthing I think that can grab Scotland and then find it's infastracurre, perhaps the Nords?

People don't realise that the country of Latvia briefly had colonies in Africa and in the West Indies but Latvia wasn't called that at the time but the duchy of Courland which was technically part of the Polish-Lithuanian empire but de facto independent under its German dukes. The island of Tobago near Trinidad was colonised by Courlanders as were some ports on west coast of Africa used in the slave trade.

A Scottish Empire never could have worked IMHO. Scots lack the colonial mindset of the English and are much happier impoverished but in Scotland than wealthy but abroad. They were certainly great soldiers and traders--indispensable to the British empire--but have always lacked the organisational capacity and unity of command that the English had mastered as early as the age of Alfred the Great.

It was a colonial empire. Theres no what if. It was part of the British empire. For every one Englishman in the colonies, there were ten Scotsman. You only need to look around the world and you see it in place names, and surnames of descendants of slaves, as slaves often took on their slave masters surnames.

Actually, Scotland got its fair share of land in the British Empire. All of Eastern Canada was said to be a Scottish colony. Nova Scotia literally translates to New Scotland. English colonies in Antartica are controlled by Scotland, so yeah, Scotland was colonial.
