What if the Byzantine Empire Survived? Aaron: If the Byzantine Empire survived into the 20th century and maybe the early 21st century. makes you wonder of what WW1 and WW2 would of bin like with them possibly in the fray against Germany or they might of bin allies with the German Kaiser of WW1 or Mussolini's Italy of WW2. It's hard to say how that alternate history would of went. And would they be a nuclear armed military power after 1950? The Byzantine Empire would alter the Middle East as Syria, Lebanon and that would be very different all the way to now. Or perhaps the Byzantine Empire would of eventually evolved to a modern democracy sometime in the 1800's like the USA, Britain and France with a democratic president elected by the Byzantine people in the capital of Constantinople. And they become allies with Britain, France and the United States in WW1 and maybe again in WW2 against the Germans and their axis allies and they are a Cold War ally with the west against the communists of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact alliance.

It's the crusader's faults. Perhaps, if Byzantium and the German Rome united by tolerating each other just to support each other in order to defeat the Muslims and Turks, then they would of crushed them all. It's also the Pope's sillyh evil fault for wanting to conquer Jerusalem. Why? Why on Earth would someone want to go right into the heart of the Muslim in Jerusalem? That's why the Muslims defeated poor Byzantium! If Byzantium would of been supported by the other Europeans, at least for the sake of a Christian Europe, Byzantium would of been alive to neutralize the Mongols! I know there were disagreements with the Slavs and the German Roman Empire and Byzantium. However, it was not a big deal. They could of united to crush the bloody invaders! I still pray for Byzantium! I still PRAY!

he descendant of the ancient Egyptian language survives till this day and is truly thriving in Egypt. Coptic Egyptian was essentially a Greekified version of late Egyptian, which was the direct descendant of the language of the ancient Egyptians. It simply adopted an early Egyptian version of the Greek Alphabet to replace hieroglyphs, and over time acquired loanwords from Greek. The Coptic Egyptian language does still exist in Egypt today in OTL, but unlike in this timeline it isn't widely spoken. So in a way, in this scenario ancient Egyptian civilization lives on till this day. Making it the longest continuous civilization. can you make a video about what if ancient Egypt discovered America

We should not be wondering why Rome fell, but rather why it lasted so long. So here are all the times Rome should have fallen:
When Hannibal invades and this would see Carthage replace Rome
When The Civil War happens and the Dark ages would began earlier
when Nero's rule ends and brings chaos, the Pax Rommana should have ended here and dark ages
when Huns invade
when barbarians invade
when arabs, norse, and latins invade which is the most surprising. In 1204 this should have been the end.

Gunpowder Byzantine Empire will probably conquer more than you expect. Remember the Byzantines are one of the early pioneers of gunpowder, much more than Western Europe. There's a big chance, had they kept their Empire intact, that they will be the first to formulate musket fire tactics and conquer much of the former Roman provinces of the Eastern med. coast. Especially Jerusalem and Egypt.

I think the Crusades probably would have still occurred but they'd probably focus on Spain, and modern day Tunisia. The reason I believe this is due to the fact that the crusades basically being one of the ways the pope tried to assert political dominance over western Europe and make him more powerful than the European Monarchs the Holy Roman Empire is a pretty good example of this.

5: 33 Yes, the Komnenos dynasty was awesome (at least for its first 3 rulers. But eventually, they were overthrown by the Angelids. The Angelids were a HORRIBLE dynasty. Perhaps with a more stable situation while holding all of Anatolia, the Angelids can't take over.

A better way to have the eastern Romans survive is to have Basil the second reform the empire into a democratic republican nation state with an empire to remove the endless civil wars during his long and stable reign. Please make this timeline.

Good video but you didnt say anythting about the effect to the west of the existence of Byzantium well after 1400. What about renaisance? It happened because the Greeks travelled to Italy aftet the fall of Constantinopole

Combine this timeline with the Ethiopian super power timeline, Harold Hardrada conquering England, Vikings colonizing North America, and Aztecs beating the Spanish. That's the world I want to live in.
