What if America was a Third World Country? Part 1 luciferangelica: ok, i tried to wait, and i should so forgive me if you get to this first point, but if you're gonna say the occupation and departure of spain caused the present poverty of latin america, then you must be aware that only covers it up until the us found a need for bananas, sugar and cocaine, as well as many other resources. next, the british didn't totally not oppress its american colonies. it stifled manufacturing in order to have a monopoly on manufactured goods, while extracting raw materials. and finally, for now, while slave owners may have treated poor whites better than their slaves, which is an extremely low bar, the existence of slavery lowers the price of labor, therefore lowering the living standard of the entire working class

The US would have been third world but quite rich nevertheless: it would have led an uncomfortable life, much more like cowboys, but a side-effect would have been more left-wing combativeness on the workers' part, anti-communism which is now reestablishing serfdom would not have prevailed, workers would have never voted so much against their interests. The US would have had a more accurate perception of the reason of their relative prosperity: their superior ability to produce food, especially meat, and they would have concentrated in that line.

now you wanna talk about pc shit; i think you really missed the point here if you think saying third world countries is a problem, but just blindly stumble into referring to the european nations as parents to the nations they colonized, but in all fairness, when i first saw that list, upon unpausing from my last comment, i actually thought you were saying something much worse; that that was how the citizens of those nations raised their children. next to that what you were actually saying didn't seem so bad

This video isn't aging well. The US is becoming more 3rd World than many 3rd World nations. Particularly in terms of how countries around the world are supporting its tax paying citizens during a global pandemic/global recession.
The US igovt is ruling its citizens like Spain ruled its colonies 300 years ago; proping up monopolies, centralizing wealth and power, and the citizens having virtually no say in the political affairs
Interesanting topic though

To answer your obviously rhetorical question, if you care about historicity, then I suppose, No. To avoid political correctness would be to pursue being wrong. No shame in not knowing anything. Only shame in being proud of not knowing. Not saying you do that, but you did complain in your video instead of just using the correct terms. Annoying? Maybe, if you're not used to it. But just knowing the terms isn't that hard.

just because they would be a 3rd world country in this scenario, does not mean it will be weak in matters of military, I mean the Mongols lacked in Industry and agriculture, and they invaded more than any other nation, even destroying the Abbasid empire, which makes me wonder what would happen if the Abbasid dynasty survived.

Any way, America would be a regional power due to the Missisippi basin and other rivers (basically allowing for easy transport through the entire country, it owning the most fertile lands in the world and having the most settle-able land in the world and also its good isolated position from the rest of the world.

If America was a third world country, I wouldn't exist. I doubt my dad would have immigrated here with his European parents. Also one would have to change so much about America to put it on par with ex-Spanish colonies that it wouldn't have any semblance to the American in the real world.

but if british puritains didn't found massachusetts then they would've become a greater presence in holland than they'd already been, and maybe changed the fundamental make-up of new amsterdam, or maybe even a separate dutch colony

It was interesting that he pointed out that so many men had the right to vote before the American Revolution even happened, and that they had practice with democratic government in the colonial US. You do it by doing it, as they say.
