Arthas & Burning Crusade in general, imo, were the best stories the writers ever came up with. Warcraft 1-3, Frozen Throne and of course my favorite expansion WoTLK (BC can be argued for that #1 spot as well. WoW hasn't been the same since. I agree with many in here, Blizzard should create a Lich King movie but more of a Netflix series than an actual movie. Movies, nowadays, just tend to either have under-performing actors or just plain suck (like Marvel has since Endgame. I don't know what it is but there hasn't been anything remotely good to pay $20 at the theaters for and be entertained. The direction producers and directors are going seems to be stream based series. I'd rather have that so writers can focus on the events of BC more in depth as well as other stories of WoW's main characters and maybe just end it when Tirion Fordring killed Arthas. Unless they can somehow rewrite the debacle that led to Cataclysm (insert vomit face) that'd be great. That's how Warcraft should have been made. should have been a streaming series instead of a movie. I remember having to explain to my brother who the characters were and what was going on during the movie and even on our drive home. They just skipped and left so much out. was a shell of what it could have been. If Blizzard wants a successful WoW movie, they need to take a page out of Marvel's book and write movies on all main characters THEN build up to Warcraft. Imagine seeing the Avengers without knowing the background of any of the main characters. it'd still be a cool movie but not as climatic.

That first milisecond of Totems of Grizzlemaw (The Grizley-Hills Nyckelharpa music, english word for that being -Keyed Fiddle-, which is a pretty literal description of the instrument) right at the end made me absolutely give in to my tears.
That instrument really means a lot to me, since my dad plays it. (He's doing well, no need to worry about me spreading my -Sad and tragic story of my dad that passed-) The instrument coming from Sweden just fits the Theme of the Area it plays in so well, aside from the pure nostalgic joy it brings me, to hear those songs from years back.
This has nothing to do with any of Arthas' themes, but uhm. I just wanted to write, cos I'm bored

Arthas did nothing wrong, and I'm not saying that as part of a meme, he really did everything right within the confines of the knowledge he had, those who criticize him have some nerve, they would have been corrupted just the same by Frostmourne and been taken over by the Litch King's soul after wearing that crown. Arthas was helpless. as he saw himself bringing terror upon the world he swore to protect. If anyone deserved a chance at revenge and reedeming himself in front of everyone who is ignorant to the circumstances, it was him, not Sylvanna's other half that committed so many atrocities willingly.

After Arthas horrible demise in Shadowlands i stopped playing for me the end has come. They did him to dirty in the end, a person who didn't had a choice but to act in his master's shadow, Arthas just wanted to protect his ppl, its not his fault that powers so much above him decided his faith, and even then he resistet enough to not unleash the whole scourge on the lands, and all he got was a spitefull speech from sylvanas and utter silence by his mentor and beloved jaina. truely an end not befitting of his person. IMO

Poor guy. For people who fast forward to Arthas betraying the mercenaries, that-s his fault, he chose that action, before that action though he was forced to do some heavy stuff that gave him mad ptsd to end Mal Ganis. Arthas was then controlled through the blade to do what he did to his father and mentor and home. The man only wanted to save Lordaeron. I just wish they wrote it to where people knew he was controlled to kill and destroy when he came back, like they never knew the truth, all the way to shadowlands.

Imagine. IF ONLY. They would make a WoW series with the full lore. like 10 seasons or so. with content from Warcraft III and WoW Vanilla, TBC and WOTLK. and the main protagonist and antagonist, as an actor would be Henry Cavil (Geralt - Witcher actor) as Arthas Menethil. and the producers would actually RESPECT the LORE of the GAME, i bet my life that it would be better than any of Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and other epic movies, storywise. I can only dream. IF ONLY this could be a reality.

Tom--
I know the whole story of Arthas Menethil and for me he is one of the best characters in the world of Warcraft. I even have a picture of him at home. It's just a shame that this exceptional hero who caught the attention of many. I personally was drawn to Arthas to finish Warcraft III and the expansion of the story, also to read the Book and to play World of Warcraft. I want to say that his ending disappointed me a lot, it was sloppy and unworthy of such an iconic character. -

if you add those moments in those pictures to a movie/tv show with the lord of the ring style or something, its badass and you can be identified with the charcters, they could done the same with the orcs and the story such as doomhammer escape his chains and from capital city and all the alliance trying to capture him and then he give thrall his suit, the orc capture the red dragons, events can be good for episods and plots in the war

Mass nostalgia trips related to Arthas' story remind me some kind of an individual's cult. It simply a story of a boy who had lost his path and trusted wrong authorities what had lead him to death and betrayal. C'mon, it's a teenagers' story plot for naive children. But despite of being primitive that story has charmed dozens of people who miss those happy-golden-days. How does it all work? What is it all based on? -

The tragedy of Athas was not his fall to darkness, It was his lack of redemption. the fall was against him and without a choice, to save his people he did what had to be done. to banish a soul for a crime done from duress, to blame him, is the tragedy that hurts deepest.
he did not deserve his fate.
and we might not see justice for it.
so the light has been forever stripped from the world of warcraft.

Lot of people being real whiny in these comments. Kind of hard to look at tbh - I love the character, I think Warcraft III through WotLK is some of the best video game writing ever, but I can-t stand all the -fans- who take every opportunity to throw themselves a pity party instead of taking the chance to come together for a few minutes of nostalgic bliss celebrating what was great

What can we say about Prince Arthas Menethil. The hero that lifted Blizz to the sky and yet, in the end Blizz frucked him like no other!
You cannot kill what is already IMMORTAL in the hearts of players!
My Prince. no. my KING, may your soul find rest and the justice that was denied, in other realms, far away, and may your memory haunt Blizz, for their failure, FOR EVER!

Feel like the new writers were pissed the could never capture anything even remotely close to Arthas's story. So they butchered him in shadowlands and said in the cinematic nope that was all of him gone now, don't ever ask or theorize about anything he is done now pay attention to our shitty peace story now.

may the people at Blizzard responsible for his ultimate end in Shadowlands meet cruel and painful ends themselves. you destroyed someone who was greater than you will ever be. and who will be still loved by millions long after your own descendants forget about you.

Amazing video! I will never forgive Blizzard for what they did to Arthas in Shadowlands. It pains my heart whenever i think about it, how they took this iconic character, arguably their best written one and most famous, and just spit on his entire legacy.

Invincible song is perfect for alternate end to Arthas as King Arthas Menethil II King of Lordaeron and all human nation. Leading a Alliance in many conflict to victory. Pride and hope for his people. I will always remember Arthas in this way.

Arthas stands as the King of Kings when it comes to the feelings of raw emotion (tragedy most of all) evoked by WoW lore. Your combination of artwork together with the different steps of the music score was perfect Athelarius - thank you.

Listening to this makes me realise what i gave up when i stopped playing World of Warcraft so long ago. Yes, it is but a game, but it is also one of the best written universes of all time.
If only i had the strength.
