In this sci-fi retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, a pair of astronauts work on a small space station orbiting a distant planet. As the mysterious narrator attempts to convince himself of his sanity while describing his brutal act of murder, he becomes haunted by a thunderous heartbeat that could only come from the far reaches of space. Orbit by Nicholas Camp and Don Thiel III Story based on The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe More About Orbit: An old astronaut and his young trainee are studying a mysterious planet in deep space. The trainee is distressed over the old man’s deformed eye, and it turns into a deadly obsession. The trainee murders the old man, and believes he is free of the eye’s ghastly power. While presenting a spotless crime scene to the investigators, the trainee descends to an abyss of fear and paranoia. He hears the sound of a heartbeat coming from beneath the floor, and it begins to grow louder. Filmmaker's Statement: Nicholas had always wanted to make a movie taking place on a space station orbiting a mysterious planet, and Don wanted to follow up his award-winning short, The Raven, with another Edgar Allan Poe story. As they discussed their next projects, it did not take long to realize that setting The Tell-Tale Heart on a small space station could add to the isolated, eerie tone of the story, and help motivate the lead character’s descent into madness. Narrative Making Of: We were determined to create a tangible, realistic feel that is inspired by the movies we watched growing up. All of the interior and exterior sets are real, hand-crafted models, and the planet and space elements were made with mixtures of thick, colorful liquids. Tragically, this is the final project released featuring actor Jacob Witkin as he passed away shortly after production wrapped. Jacob had an incredible presence on set, and people from our cast and crew often pulled us aside to mention how enjoyable it was to work with him. Jacob had a great sense of humor, and he was an incredible actor. His scope of work illustrates his interest in all kinds of stories and characters, and we are so lucky to have him in Orbit

This was awesomely done! I am a big Poe fan, and really like his original story. But, this film adaptation is even better. Interesting take on such a well-known story. I was caught off guard by the twist ending, and I think that twist was necessary for a fresh view of such a well-known story. I have a few questions: 1) With such amazing technology available to those in the story, why didn't the Old Man have a naturally working synthetic eye or even a cloned replacement 2) The Madman is very isolated, and other Investigators will likely catch up with him. How long can he keep up the charade 3) When will you adapt more Poe stories, or even Lovecraft stories, in a similar fashion Keep up the good work!

Edgar Allan Poe 's tale ruined a telling by lesser men. Weird and black behind the dreamscape
You rotate evil vampires beside the vapors
Alass, Alack! The sin keeps going
So peaceful beneath the earth
I find sensuous snakes against the fire
Be luminous. The lust is going
Evil and arid beneath the flowers
We meet yellow fangs on the flowers
Alass, Alack! The thought gets weird
scared seeking
lost in broad daylight
a broken promise
In whose heart
the lost man
look for love
in a different light

I loved this one! what better way to tell a tale of space with the narrative of a legendary artist as of none other than poe Brilliant work oh yes in dead I might add, then again what better of ones inticed wayward premeditated for ones departure of that in space so no I might add again in space no one can hear you scream.

Amazingly well done. .. a truly unique approach to a classic story. On a tiny budget, but with more than enough imagination, this came together. I'm particularly fond of obscure, indie sci-fi films and shorts which reside way outside the usual box. This definitely deserves to be on that list.

Ustedes son los mejores creando escenas e historias de ciencia ficcion, me fascinan sus videos.
Me gustaria darles ideas y seria grandioso que sus seguidores puedan ser parte de algun futuro cortometraje.

Saw this coming from the mention of the 'dead eye' though where the murderer got the tool to dismember the investigators is unclear. Give credit before the remake please. If Poe is worthy of copying he's worthy of proper acknowledgement not as an afterthought.

Why, when having so much talent, devote it to such mediocre scenario which is neither uplifting, neither healthy entertaining, nether sharing an inspiring message! Probably as a catarsis session of your own perversion
So I can only hope it helped you.

. The millennial's beard vexed me to the very core. He had the facial hair of a wild boar. An utterly wretched and loathsome ginger mat. Whenever my gaze fell upon it, my stomach churned a frothy, stinging bile. Do you fancy me mad

TBH, I was disappointed it turned into Poe. I saw the inkling of it in the first few minutes Sadly this goes the way of today’s movies: no new ideas so rehash old ones and hope the young people don’t catch on

a very nice remix of edgar allen poe boi-in space with madness. it took me a minute to figure out this was some old school EAP type ish. sounded like it. old school back in the day day scary story type poem shizzle.

A bit on the horrific side rather than science fiction, just because it takes place in space doesnt make it science fiction in the normal sense of the genre, but even though violent, it was watchable.

this isn't sci fi this is shit. i'm tired of lame horror films being presented as sci-fi. And it's a rip off of Poe. No originality no creativity, just shit. And absolutely not Sci-fi

When, 20 seconds into this video, I realized he was reading the telltale heart and therefore the title must not really refer to movement through space at all. i was completely floored.

Recognized this from the Simpsons when Lisa had bad cnciense after ruining a clasmates diorama of the beating of the hideous hart to win herself. But Ralph won at the end anyway. :)

. and the Tudors were set to dominate and conquer a celestial land so vast so eternal, a hitherto divine realm touched only by the Gods, to be _their_ domain, for evermore.

At first, I thought this was going to be bad. However, the retelling of such a classic in such a fashion was damn good! The special effects worked perfectly with the story.
reply

As I watched, I knew it was a take on Poe before seeing the description. Only because it was in my save list and was binge watching on full screen.
Good job. I like it.

reply

At this point you fancy me mad.
Eh, NO! I do think you are a flaming steamer though. There is no doubting that the one eyed trouser snake is what floats your boat!

reply

Seriously Tell-tale Heart. in space
This. Poe is rolling in his grave.
Also, personal opinion, dislike the narrator's voice. Feels like he's trying too hard.

reply

I knew at the start that he'd end up with the eye. just a poorly delivered overly-theatrical attempt at a story that's been done one too many times.
reply

This is a great sci-fi retelling of the Edgar Allan Poe story, The Tell-Tale Heart, what other classic stories would work well in a sci-fi setting
reply

Yeah, I am a fan of Poe but once I realized what this was based on it kinda took the air out of my sails. It was well done though.

What a sacrilege to use The Requiem's Lacrimosa for the music of a poor scifi rehash of Eadgar Allen Poe's Telltale Heart.
reply

wonderful interpretation of poes work
the mix of professionalism and exaggeration was just perfect for something like this.

reply

Could you guys write in the name of the movie - horror, comedy, action etc. You disrespect the time of so many viewers!
reply

I am an avid fan of Poe and I can't think of a way of better re-telling the story. kudos Mr. Camp and Mr. Thiel III!
reply

Absolutely this is Edgar Allan Poe just based in the future. pretty cool though. keep the classics alive.
reply

Only watched a minute of this so far and I already love it. A sci-fi adaptation of Poe is a brilliant idea.
reply

You fool! You bloody damn fool!
She was begging for your invitation, not you confession!

reply

So if you put an Edgar Allen Poe story into a space background, it becomes sci-fi! Weak

I really had a hard time keeping an eye on this film. I really didn't see much.
reply

Ok! Original and not sooo bad on realism. And knowing a classic. Cool!
reply

I was glad to watch first before seeing any comments. Poe vibes confirmed.
