Maybe hand relates to the power to create, or that God creates through our own hands. Most people have hard experiences, some have traumas over it that is hard to overcome, to start living again. Our choices makes our future.

Great visuals, but no point. Good stories don't always need answers, but they should have some sort of defined point. Otherwise your message gets lost on the viewer, as so many have already noted. It makes the entire thing more distracting to watch than anything else. Was there a point to this I'm sure somewhere - judging by how good the post was and how the scenes were set up. I lost the point very quickly though and couldn't stay focused. The droning computerized voice also made the narration (if that's what it was) intelligible. This probably sounds harsh, but it defines the difference of using media as a one-liner expressionism device and an effectual way of story telling.

Watching some Dust videos while I am Clicking the buttons at work, Why does this resonate with me so much! What is It! I feel the answer is right in front of me and I hope I get a second chance. I want to get it, but I do not understand how it lies. I have Dust on random Now and it came on a third watch (watched twice the first time one passively then actively) I found myself typing it up even both verses of his song in the camcorder. I feel this is going to wake me up at 3 am to go over again. it is so deep and it has many layers this could apply to. Thank you DUST you got my cranial juices flowing yet again!

I thought the meaning of this was rather simple. Man prefers self destruction over self transcendence at a universal scale because that would imply our comprehension at a near meaningless existence. What is right in front of him, his test, is to create meaning for oneself, to move forward and work towards self actualization. This man could not.
The fishbowl was clearly an analogy I’ll leave to you all to figure out.

There are a lot of people straight out hating, but it is an Art project and therefore it is suppose to be hard to understand - most of the times meaning is not even meant to be understood. Just artist doing what they feel.
So take it as that _
That being said - also confused, but not a reason for me to literally dislike. it is gonna mean something to someone and that is the beauty of art in general.

God knocking on door - death calling him on phone - carrying his soul around trying to figure out what it wants from him - unable to understand the various things it seems to say - the transitory nature of love - man made or ego induced - then the purity of reality lost and wandering - like a deer caught in the headlights of curiosity - everything around you pushing in - while you try to find your song to save you.

The American Stephen Hawking narrator is incomprehensible most of the time. Why didn't they think about the rest of the world. I'm English so English is my first language and I still couldn't understand it. Considering it's a narration lead film I can only say UTTER FAIL. Garbage audio ruined a mysterious short film, making it an unwatchable bore fest. Think about humans of planet Earth next time, Yankees.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for watching. I just graduated college in June and am so thankful that Dust is keeping independent filmmaking alive during such a difficult time for young filmmakers. I never expected anyone to see this since it’s a low budget student film and my first time directing. I hope that This is a Test will help make you feel a little more okay with being lost right now. I usually like, or at least respect the DUST selections, but this one, well. .. sorry, I tried to get into it, just wasn't working for me, especially when the singing started. I know, there is supposed to be a profound parallel universe metaphor being presented here, but it just isn't working this time around, but keep trying.

Beautiful film. This is true of each one of us. We're all searching desperately for life meaning and understanding, yet, not listening, or not being able to tap in, our higher self advising us through it all. Grief is the heaviest anchor to lift. It's what keeps us lost, in an eternal limbo of stagnation.

When I first started watching Dust, all the videos were really good. As time has gone on I find their are a lot more Dust videos available but the quality is lacking, like this video.
