I loved the retro-futurist Metropolis aesthetic. Unfortunately, the story doesn't make sense. Why would the regime hire a scientist to design a soldier droid if they already have worker droids that could be simply modified for war And why would the scientist burn the droid along with the lab He could have taken her head at least so that he could build her a new body later.

Each visual image was thoughtfully used and composed. Sound effects like fingertips brushing across the beard stubble of a face were noticed. Story interesting. Acting good. Wonderful editing. Visually stunning. The light ellipses during the creation of the wife robot a nod to the 1927 Metropolis. This took a lot of work and it shows!

I like how at 11: 12 you can see (what I think is) top displaying on the monitor, on the right side of the frame. :)
In all seriousness, this was highly enjoyable to watch, and as some others have commented, yes, reminiscent of Metropolis / Fritz Lang work.

Wonderful film noir! Such a glorious combination of Terry Gilliam, Fritz Lang and Dr. Strangelove! What a great cast, the music is first rate and the effects are a real treat for the eye. Thank you for this fun little romp into the past of the future!

This was magnificent! I've got to say, the way the actor playing the General delivered the line Oh, and doctor, remember. even a desert flower. die is about 7 seconds of perfection in acting. It was disturbingly creepy.

Broken, slow AF, un-enlightening -- sorry you wasted so much effort on what haas been done 1000 times already - BORING, angles are off, lighting all off, boy I could go on but I won't waist time. LAME

They got the whole cold, steely fascist, totalitarian vibe on point. From the stark, imposing architecture, down to the squeaky leather gloved hand; to the art director and set design!

A lot of atmosphere, and obvious homages. The it's alive part was poorly executed. I'm not suggesting the the scientist actually had to say those words, but I think you know what I mean.

It's sad to realize that people will probably make films about Nazi-like regimes for at least another 30 years before catching up to the current reality of global left-wing oppression.

Es interesante. Intentan mezclar los males de las dictaduras fascistas y comunistas para simplemente mostrar el estilo estadounidense actual para tratar a los trabajadores.
reply

Don't like the scientists decision, lack of awareness and cowardly vulnerability. But not too lazy with the animation except when contact between subjects.

The Artificial intelligence that directed this deserves praise. Maybe some awards. Not anyone else, just the A. I. It did all the work.

Exceptional short sci-fi! Fusion of steampunk, Nazi WWII, 1984, with a little Star Wars and a love story tossed in. Remarkable sets!

Love this! Her face so gorgeous and her topaz eyes contemplating! Dang maybe she suffer a resurrection beyond her decision.

Superb acting first, highly intense atmosphere, just an outstanding piece of a short, even for Dust!

SFX was awesome. Love the Metropolis nods. Great idea, but he loses his wife twice- unsatisfactory ending.

If Dr. Klein built her, couldn't he just re-build her after the General gave her lead poisoning

Very cool! Kind of a mix of Metropolis and Young Frankenstein. in theory. Well done and entertaining!

I wonder why they decided to make everything look like the cutscenes from a 90s CD-ROM game
reply

Well made. I love the fact that they have invented robots and AI but are still watching b/w films.

9: 56 that was wickedly good, or a well played piece of villainy. I’d probably snap.
reply

Wow, wonderfully filmed. A touch of Metropolis in there and lots of very cool grahpics.
reply

Like the two soldiers wouldn't come running when shots are fired. Maybe a scene was cut away.

Always have loved the old films of the future. This definitely pays homage to them

It has all the great elements of old good cinema. How much enjoyment can one take

Great homage to Metropolis. You kept the dignity and masterpiece of Metropolis.

I wish the credits were added to the description, even in a truncated form.

Sad! He worked so hard for her only to give her up in the end. :(
