Many years ago tech giants lost control of AI robotic technology. By kidnapping and monitoring newborns, the Ai robots are now trying to master the one thing they have yet to understand - Creativity. The Shift by Johan Samuelsson Connect with the Filmmaker: The Shift

A statement from the incredible filmmaker, Johan Samuelsson:
The Shift is about creativity, and the things that separate humans from robots. The idea for The Shift grew from the development of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) focused technology that simplify, and replace humans tasks and jobs. As a motion designer I experience this constantly in updated softwares, and countless of plug-ins that simplify daily tasks. For example some crafts that took several hours to complete by hand a couple of years ago, can now be done in a few minutes or have been entirely replaced AI technology. Eventually, together with the development of technology the techniques and mechanics of animation will be simplified to the extent that anyone will be able to produce a pretty moving image. However, I believe that the ability to create concepts and develop ideas cannot be replaced by technology.

Congratulation to Johan Samuelsson and his out of this creation team. Plot, sci-fi, sound, music, draws and simplicity are incredible. Not only in the near future, we the humanity will face those dangers but they will also only consist of an implementation of the directives in artificial intelligence that both governments and their agencies apply today either so that we focus our attention on a single thing or to live in a reality, if not parallel, distorted. With such luck, a rebellion of the machines will not be necessary, but human resistance will be. Question: Part two of this unique piece called The Shift will be realished. Your creativity means so much to us.

Mr. Samuelson! This Universe and Story Line MUST BE EXPANDED UPON! the 6 Minutes and 16 Seconds of WOW has to to delved into deeper. PLEASE FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE TIRED OF THE SAME OLE THING THAT HOLLYWOOD GIVES US AS SCI FI! SOMETHING TO SHOCK THE CEREBRUM AJAR LIKE FORBIDDEN PLANET WHEN IT WAS RELEASED INN 1956! STAR WARS IN 1977, THE MATRIX IN 1999. THAT IS WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN I WATCHED THIS! ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A. I. CONTACTS DISSOLVED AND THE YOUNG MAN WAS ABLE TO SEE TRULY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Nothing can ever compare to the creativity of the human mind. Our emotions play a huge part in the things we create, so does our experiences and learned techniques. Sure you can program a bot to perform tasks, but it’s never going to be fluid and whimsical. If we left it up to codes and tasks performed by machines, this world presented in this film is exactly what it would look like.

_There is a war, up there, where suns are bloated red and time itself creaks with age. Their ultimate intelligence. Our ultimate intelligence. The lone being. The triune being. Two singularities in brutal conflict, conscripting their pawns of carbon and silicon across eons of time. _ adapted from The Hyperion Cantos.
Much love to the filmmaker from a fellow sci-fi storyteller

Nice story, but I think the premise of this video is wrong. Creativity is just an biological process. There's nothing spiritual or external to humans about it, and an AI (a true AI) will be able to figure it out easily when it comes online. We are just biological machines.
reply

Great video. But it's a bit silly to think the AI's would have to kidnap the newborns, when so many affluent humans are eager to hand their babies off to daycare, public schools, or underpaid housekeepers ASAP and race back to their offices with tires screeching.

Is about creativity. we can see a lightsaber hilt and a LAAT gunship from star wars. Copying them is anything but creative. Not to mention the character is hideous, his mouth starts at his nose, not below that, making his face dumb and confusing.
reply

Another annoying misunderstand of what I in AI means. Hint, it is not human Intelligence. Self aware AIs will have as much human Intelligence as octopus do. They will be hyper Intelligent in a totally non-human way.
reply

I liked the short film, but in what it means I think it has many holes, because if the character was deceived for 15 years without seeing reality, what did he eat, where did he bathe, or where did he really live
reply

It's like a reverse Matrix, you are in there, but you don't see it. And also the rescuers aren't inside the planet but outside the planet. Besides that, pretty good story, and an amazing way of telling it.
reply

Raising kids in VR environments to learn creativity seems like a pretty creative idea already. Reminds me of Commander Data getting all emotional about not having emotions.
reply

I liked it.
It did remind me of Star Wars though.
With the AI building looking like an Imperial base & the lightsaber looking device. Along with a Clone troop carrier ship.

Were a bunch of these Dust videos compiled and tossed into a Netflix series Love Death n Robots as many of the videos there seem so familiar like seen them here before.
reply

Black Mirror Episode has a similar concept with a green laser jamming and brain chip to alter what person saw and felt, even dream were controlled.
reply

Allot doesnt make sense, is it VR or AR, because that device he found was real, robots were real at the start but at the end they wernt
reply

Im only too aware that we're not allowed to say anything negative about these things for fear of facing the ire of the internet.
reply

The story is really keeps you watching. But this animation though. Especially THAT ONE face expression with the mouth crushed in the nose
reply

Well, I'm a little slow, sometimes, I'll admit I did not get it. But I liked it, can someone please explain to me what happened
reply

Cool video, but certain AI can already create, mainly imitate and mash together, most human creativity in a static media.
reply

Great story, creators were definitely Star Wars fans. Guy finds a light saber and clone troop attack ships!
reply

Why humen's counting is lower in matter of geniuses ness. we need to learn more from nature we didn't know what is next.
reply

That's a fair amount of story telling in just 6 minutes. Ive seen 2 hour movies with less substantial content.
reply

Ah this short wasn't that award winning after all. Nice model at 5: 35. Is that a troop transport from Star Wars
reply

I spent 3 minutes under the impression it's about to get good but got tired of waiting so I left. This is boring.
reply

Great story. maybe used the concerned over-the-should look too many times IMO. Budgets I suppose. Nice job.
reply

Incredible video! Watched it twice, just to make sure I didn't miss anything! Whoever (s) made it are artists!
reply

That was fantastic; thoughtful, relevant, and nice delivery too! Thoroughly enjoyed and warning heeded.
Thanks

reply

I don't think Creativity will be the issue.
Curiosity and empathy will be the problem for AI.
Get story.

If one types Sci fi into the search bar there, this here is the top result. Fair play, but also; huh

(After 2: 11):
I wanna know how his hover-board caught-up with him after he jumped out the window

reply

Reminded me of the Animatrix. Didn’t understand what the lightsaber-looking things was though.
reply

Yes
I really enjoyed that.
Very thought provoking as to what is to come in the future

reply

Now your out of the garden. Run to the briar patch. your future is dust; )
reply

The Golden Gate Bridge in disrepair is a sure sign of an apocalyptic future.
