My Two-Cents Worth
To me and in my opinion, this is one of the best videos Dust has ever released! Anna attracts the viewer in a sweet, special way. The Protagonist is not just in love, he is in mourning. While no time frame is given there clearly has been some serious issues that occurred. This dystopian future he could have handled, if he was able to save her. He could not. He barely saved himself! This is Survivors Guilt drawn out to the maximum!
There are so many questions that are left unanswered. Yet, this is watchable. Time and time again!
To the creators, my heartiest congratulations on a very well made film.

Poor Yonatan, always done in by water. I can relate so well to this film. Stuck rewinding my memories of a past relationship while my world crumbles around me. We can't neglect the present in favor of the past no matter how attractive the past and how bleak the present may seem. Water symbolizes the unconscious mind. We can try to reject it, but if we do, it eventually finds a way to get us. Brilliant film, one of the best on Dust.

He seemed so devastated with loss, that he would rather die than go on in that impossible survival-only life. I think he was angry that he couldn't die in the midst of his memory, and that he kept returning to nothing. Even the last scene showed him clinging to a hope of reviving the technology for one more glimpse at all that gave him hope rather than go down and join the other survivors. So sad.

Summary: Guy can't let go of prematurely departed loved one: now with Technology!
The only real sci-fi element here was the recollection machine. But you know what Humans already have a built-in faculty that performs the same function; it's called memory.
Would have been nice to have fleshed out the apocalypse. Or is it just some generic dystopian world to reflect the wasteland of his life

I like it, but don't understand the time line. Apparently they are in some post apocalyptic time where storms are ravaging the earth. She is there for what seems to be the start, but dies later Were they trying to escape the aftermath when she died Didn't seem like there was a lot of people in a hurry, just one person blowing through a check point.

Watching DUST to escape the present and experience a possible future. We can make anything happen in movies with Vfx, if we don't have them already im sure some computers could predict the end of our time by running many different simulations at once of all possible outcomes. Just fun to think about when Dust shows us some possibilities.

This totally killed me. How I wish to god I had something like that to be able to hook up to even though it wouldn't be real. On second thought to keep reliving the same memories over and over again of someone you lost would probably be worse. I guess that's why people need to let go. Still was a good film.

Woo. that's sure put me in a different frame of mind. Food for thought aplenty; too much even. The lack of closure/conclusion for him has left me feeling a bit hollow. I don't really know what to make of it. Will ponder and watch again - but not for a while eh.

(boring, repetitive, using always men can't keep it together stereotype [except that when it really matters, the perfect women keep it home where it's warm and safe]) => crap
good that it didn't go into a new exodus with parting waters kind of allegory

reply

What is Real
What is Virtual
As you all watch this, unknowingly you are already hooked up to a machine,
Reality is, what is programed
And you don't know anything else
Look for the Glitch!
Only then can you escape.

Its a great picture, I love it, but
I hate depressing end-time-scenarios as well.
s. o. may tell me, why I am watching this
or better:
s. o. knows an optimistic movie
I would appreciate it!

reply

redundant, too excessive, they could make the idea of obsession with fewer repetitions of the same thing, they stretched the thing a little too much and at a certain point it was boring! But interesting plot

That damn motherboard with no CU, no ram and no cords connected to it at ALL just keeps bugging the crap out of me. PCI slots, looks like maybe a Pentium 3 era board Other than that, great film
reply

He was quite good. especially the manic look ok his face after stealing the power source
The long goodbye.
How many of us hang on like this. to nothing.

reply

No different than being an opiate junkie. It's the same feelings. being loved, accepted. Neither are real. That guy is the definition of needy and clingy.
reply

What language are they speaking I don't recognize it but if I had to guess I would say it's from the Eastern Mediterranean region or there abouts.
reply

not sure if it was just my system or what, but ads every sixty seconds is TOO MUCH! Can't get into the story because of the constant stopping.
reply

Memory is a place where the dead still rule, and all of their wars are. unfinished.
(One of my little proverbs, under: fair warning)

reply

Just a side note, at the moment people think technology will take over and produce a star trek future, nothing could be further from the Truth
reply

More post apocalyptic BS. So overdone and worn out. It was used up when Mad Max came out for christs sake.
Try some imagination for once.

reply

A person is never totally gone when they exist in our memory. When the memory box finally failed, the memory (figuratively) of her ended.
reply

What was in the old man’s box. I was hoping main character would open it at the end of the film and find something he could use.
reply

In reality, once you see sparks shooting out of your electronics, it's all over for them (never even mind about all the water.
reply

I wasted 27 minutes of my life on this piece of trash. Terrible film. Should have come with a warning.
reply

Here I am addicted to DUST short films when it is nice and sunny outside. Am I the same as this guy
reply

The best of these short films that I have seen so far. A moving portrait of descent into obsession and madness.
reply

Interesting I suppose I would be an addict but I push away all feelings but eventually I will give in.
reply

Addiction of any kind can lead to the last of you. but its never too late for recovery as long as you live.
reply

Another great story, Dust is slowly becoming my distraction for the week.
Everyone has had an Anna.

reply

The score was fantastic, and contributed so much to the beauty of this wonderful film.
reply

I hate Yonatan pants! They're expensive, they don't fit well, and the colors fade!
reply

A woosie in a Hebrew speaking society.
Hmmm.
Reckon Anna would be more productive.

reply

In this future, there were no virtual reality lenses with memory sticks, but big junk machines
reply

Maybe he should have invested more into learning how to repair leaky roofs. Just sayin.
reply

Love open ended stories, we can only imagine what is in the old man's box.
