A coming of age love story with a surreal streak. Starring Cesar Winner Rod Paradot & Lula Cotton-Frapier. Campers by Laurent Barthelemy More About Campers: A forest in Southern France. One of the camping retreats where middle-class families take their summer vacation. Lit by a cold neon light, Mateo looks at himself in the mirror of the communal bathroom. Beneath the thin fabric of his shirt is a strange dark shape. Something is growing from his youthful skin. As he watches, it begins to grow, uncoiling and mutating. Colors swirl dimly in its surface. A young girl in a summer dress, Chloe, steps out of one of the bathroom stalls. Chloe’s eyeliner is smeared around her eyes. Her lip-gloss shines in the uorescent lights. They both are silent and still -- caught by surprise GENERIQUE Un film produit par HEXAGONE Productrice Sandrine SCHUMACHER Écrit & réalisé par Laurent BARTHÉLÉMY Directrice de production Léa MOREL Coordinateur de production Clément GUILLOTON & Mava TENNERONI Directrice de casting Emma SKOWRONEK 1er assistant à la réalisation Mark ZARKA 2nd assistant à la réalisation Reuben BOCOBZA Régisseuse Générale Amandine LAURENT Repéreur Gauthier RAVILY Assistant régisseur Emmanuel ESTEVES Directeur de la Photographie Bénot SOLER 1er assistant OPV Prune SAUNIER-DARDANT 2nd assistant OPV Sophie QUAGLINO 3eme assistant OPV Kevin ROSÉ Chef Electricien Thomas GARREAU Chef machiniste Thomas SPIRAL Ingénieur du son Julien SENA Styliste Maud DUPUY Accessoire et maquillage SFX Camille BOUVET Chef Maquilleuse-Coiffeuse Emma FRANCO Etalonnage Fred SAVOIR pour Amazing Digital Studios Montage Maxime POZZI GARCIA pour FIRM Effets Spéciaux 8VFX Musique TURZI Sound Design & Mix: Yves ZARKA AVEC Rod PARADOT Dans le rle de Mateo Lula COTTON FRAPIER Dans le rle de Chloé Jérme LENOTRE Dans le rle du père de Mateo Auréa FERRIER Dans le rle de la petite sur de Mateo Léa PERRIER Dans le rle d’amie de Chloé Marie-Jade DEBARD Dans le rle d’amie de Chloé Margaux LEBRUN Dans le rle d’amie de Chloé Candice MESSAOUDI Dans le rle d’amie de Chloé Un grand merci à la participation de: Solène, Cassandre, Lucas, Julien, Jérme, Adriel, Kévin REMERCIEMENTS: À CAP JUNIOR: David MOUSSET, Nathanael GAYRAL, Etienne GRAPPERON Pour le prt des tentes, d’accessoires divers et le don de nourriture. I don’t know how everyone commenting here is completely missing the action at the veeery beginning. The first images are of insects! You see what appears to be something with an eye and antennae like a bee, immediately followed by what is absolutely a caterpillar of some kind. There ain’t no fungi anywhere! When he begins to show the lesions, they’re very insect-like. When they begin to grow and multiply uncontrollably, he considers suicide by drowning himself. That’s why he jumps off cliff into the water. But, he chickens out. He attempts to hide the sores by wearing a lot of clothing at the club. It can’t be a bar because they’re both too young to be served alcohol- even though she’s getting drunk with her girlfriends. Maybe in France, they serve minors. While they’re dancing, his lesions start to ooze onto her hand and he leaves in a panic- hiding as far as he can. You see he’s been cutting all the lesions because he’s covered with bandages. She sees the pus glowing on her hand, is intrigued, and goes after him. She encourages him to relax, as if she’s reassuring him not to be embarrassed. Now comes the puzzling part. Why does she continue holding him as they tongue-tussle is up for grabs. Then they’re both engulfed by the mysterious infection. At the end, she walks away clear-skinned and happy. His situation is questionable. She doesn’t seem to mind being the new host. She obviously has low standards!

I'm starting to think DUST brand is some kind of psy-op to dumb down and demoralize the public, Hollywood 3. 0 kinda thing. All the themes are pretty negative or at best humans beating otherwise overwhelming tech, especially AI and or transhumanist. Is that all anyone's got to say That's not even brave or creative, more like documentary.
How about a plot around what's gonna happen when the suppressed technology gets disclosed How about, learning to live with free energy How about, joining archeological teams to excavate ET ruins in Antarctica THAT would be cool.
This is just, ho hum, more shock and weirdness just to throw on the pile.
I think I'll look at a tree instead.

Ah come on, the film didn't payoff the question of what were the scars on his body what it did in the end was it escalated the question by way of showing that it was contagious. great, that's a great escalation, really great. but it doesn't answer the question that drives the film. thus the reason why so many dislikes, there's no payoff. Are the scars life threatening no idea, what will it do to the human body not answered. so unsatisfying!

This short film is by definition pretentious. And I see comments that say the story leaves it up to the interpretation, I say bollocks! The overuse of metaphors is the way to cover up for a bad plot and inconsistent writing. So many of these stories lack context, they may be visually stunning but that’s all they have to offer. Whereas a fantastic story will leave you satisfied.

Why are people hating this one I think the disease came from her. They already had a secret relationship all along. She probably seduced young males and then infected them with the disease to consume them later on. The victims may not realize where or when the disease came from until it's too late. Could be a metaphor for a toxic relationship

A Darker perspective is. the boy has cancer and she still wishes for normality. The cutting is representing medical intervention or surgery. perhaps someone is dealing with a loved one being taken by cancer. Sadly too many folks lost to cancer. Sorry.

Was it about spreading STD's, or some cosmic spiritual journey Well, whatever it was the result was boring, tedious and artsy masturbation. When a movie thinks it's being clever conceptionally and visually and isn't, well that is just plain annoying.

Wait, I get it! He got some sort of thing he didn't like. But she saw it and thought, Oh that's kinda cool. Then she followed him into the woods and they made out, then turned into a thing, and then she walked out like nothing had happened.

Weird and gross! IMHO, I suggest missing the video and reading the comments. Much more relatable, understandable, as well as interesting and satisfying. Your welcome!

It was the old seduction story. Chloe was the siren who seduced him. She had him breaking out in it before they even met. Classic story and a super hot actress to play it

Well, there's 11 minutes of my life I'll never get back. At least it took this whatever-it-is only 11 minutes to go nowhere. Evocative is nice but it isn't enough.

That Cough Worse than the CoronaVirus uggh X-Files kinda strange - Daphne from SKAM France series ( Lula ) with a twist, singing in English.

This reminds me of an old SI-FI story where a sentient fungus deliberately takes over humans and uses them to spread across the world.

That situation where they make a film to showcase the special effect they've been working on, rather than the other way around.
reply

Decidedly surreal. Almost hopeful in a way. The filmmaker and cast certainly made an interesting little scenario.

Cool and artistic. Many interpretations possible. But really Just too much to be guessed. No ending. No nothing.

I see shallow teens clubbing and posing with some mystery blood and growths thrown in. I don't get it.

Lot of alcohol use and smoking promotion. Wonder if sponsored by the alcohol/ tobacco industry.
