I always find it super funny how in every movie all monsters, despite being made of flesh inside some hard exoskeleton shell material, can punch multi-inch steel-grade vault doors as if they were made of thin aluminium.
There is such thing as action-reaction. No matter how hard the biological shell and monster strenth, they can't go higher than physical biological limits. And that is nowhere near steel-strength.
If you slam an oak log really hard into a thick steel door, hard enough for the dooor to becomeall bumped, then the EXACT SAME force also applies form the door to the wooden log, which, for the same amount of impact force, would just splinter in many shards.
Same thing for any biological monster vs a thick steel door: if the amount of force involved is enough to bump the door like that, then that amount of force is also enough to reduced the monster's shell to a pulp too.
Otherwise it's not a real steel vault door, it's a thin aluminium sheet prop just there to give the illusion that your vault is protected.
and/or
Otherwise it's not really a biological monster, it's some kind of ultra-high-tech machine or artificially evolved creature or something. Even if the sci-fi shows says the monster's exo-shell is somehow laced with strong metals. not in trace amounts like in some real-life creatures, but in a nbon-negligible percentage enouygh to make a real difference vs full metallic obstacles. That would be some insane kind of weird biology right then and there! And it would be a very energy-wasteful form of life, too. Can you imagine the levels of energy needed for the creature to be able grow such a hard metal shell In a world where most of the floor is covered in ash, I just don't see any creature evolving like that. Supposedly the dinos got wiped out by a long ashy winter from a big meter strike, leaving room for less energy-dependent creatures, the small mammals, to take over. Not the other way around. EVEN with assuming it has strong metals in its exoshell, that is still going to pale in comparison with an obstacle that is not partially meetal, but solid full metal instead. Biology is simply not in the same league compared to solid metals! Otherwise we'd make our bridges and skyscrapers infrastructures out of hard chitin I-beams, not out of steel I-beams!
Many many many gaping plot holes in the video but I liked it a lot anyway.

The entire Disney Star Wars Trilogy's budget was over 800 million dollars. That bought a lot of explosions and a watered down, rehashed version of the original movies, with absolutely zero thrills and originality. This cost 800 dollars, and had me on the edge of my seat with tense anticipation. The only complaint I have is that it ended so quickly and left me wanting more. Unfortunately, Hollywood hates originality. And they also prefer the ability to sell toys based on their bland remakes and reboots. Oh well, that's why I love the short film community. Hopefully more filmmakers will gain opportunities from these amazing films.

On seeing the guy who returns from the time portal has wounds, I wondered if a creature would be there too, as the creature ate him and had the dna inside of it. You have to take it with a little grain of salt, that the machine separated them.
The game boy and other trinkets blew the 'things from the past', that was the time travel machine out the window tho. It's too bad, everything else was near perfect! And the banker standing by with the shotgun was a great touch too!

I liked this a lot even though, in my mind, I'm yelling at the main character for being so dumb, like in so many horror movies. This is the guy that hides from a killer inside a shead of a thousand murdering tools when he had an option of functioning get away car.
I mean. all the signs are there.

Watching this in 2022 and is a shame there's no expansion on this story. For $800 budget, this has legs to be filled out into a more filled out story, so shows the talent behind this, quite amazed with the budget mentioned previously, so well done for making such a great short!

Wow. Everything in this film is amazing. I love the cinematography, the plot, the dialogues. This is another one that we need a full length film of. I'd be happy to join a group of indies who will create an alternative studio to Hollywood. I am soooo SICK of Hollywood.

(1) Interesting that at 6: 05 the tape recorder is running at normal speed, but in reverse. Wow, did that jolt me out of my Suspension of Disbelief. (2) Time machine gadget looks like a Pipboy (from Fallout series of games. (3) Cute ending, though.

Brilliant. Had me engaged from start to finish. Everything about this screamed quality - acting, direction. lighting, audio - this was great. 650, 000 people have seen it - that means about 7 billion haven't! Their loss!

Spoiler-alarm.

Hey banker: For something strong enough to damage the door like this. The gun caliber is the wrong size. If you cannot change to minigun, 88mm Flak or something with rockets. RUN!

Great. Needs a prequel and sequels maybe where the animal lays eggs in the bodies to emerge when they are taken out of the vault and bank, then causes havoc and more generations of creatures.

Good short! The protagonist was a total chump. The clues were in the tape recording that basically said don't go there. Sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie.

Seems I am not the only one that loves Outer Limits and Twilight Zone. Rod Serling would be impressed. This deserves a mini series that harkens to the liking of Sliders.

Interesting Making Of notes from the filmmaker: We shot this in an old bank vault over a two day period. We had a crew of three people and a budget of about $800

There is so much more to this story. This was done with just $800! Will someone please give the makers of this $50, 000 to finish the first chapter.

Most of the DUST stuff is seriously flawed; good beginning but lousy endings; they just dont know how to end stuff; have to give it a C.

Okay, this was way too short. This could be a teaser trailer for a longer film! Good production.
