You always hear that ai will replace humanity and thats horrible, but why is it horrible instead of creating children why not create a new form of live. we prob wont get there in my lifetime but people are always so full of themselves. It doesnt matter to me what happens after i die. I would feel good if i knew live carried on, and why not in artificial form it really doesnt make a single differnece

Wow, what a moving video. It makes you think about whether an AI can be alive. It also makes you think about what is really important in life, what do you want to spend your last moments doing If you have family members that are old, maybe they thinking the same thing Maybe an old friend or family member wants someone to call and just talk to them, play them a song, or send them a card

OK, so I'm1: 32 in and we have a super advanced sentient A. I. whose voice sounds like an '80's 'Speak and Spell' toy! Text to speech right now sounds more advanced, lol. Anyway, let me watch the rest.
EDIT: OK watched the rest. a robot that becomes sentient, then chooses religion and develops human emotions. Hmm. nah!

This reminds me of my father after mom died and he was in his seventies. he said I have lived long enough that every body I ever knew is dead. He had scads of young relatives (me) but I understood what he meant. I'll be 70 in 2025 and think of him often. Imagine being alone for 6000 years (shudders)

I believe this also would best illustrate how a robot would view time as opposed to us. It was reminiscing the 6000 year time span in a matter of around 8 minutes. Interesting enough this about how long it takes sunlight to reach earth from the sun. 8: 20 seconds to be exact.
reply

NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration not North American Space Administration.
I'm pretty certain that space station's orbit would decay after a couple of decades not thousands of years.
Pedantry aside, good short.

reply

Ok, NASA (1: 10 min) stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration not North American.
This is the problem with the internet generation (which I'm not of) true knowledge is getting lost in an endless sea of misinformation!

Nice film. But why would an AI (who knows exactly how it was made and came to existence and self-awarness) be compelled to become religious. (Not to mention that it chose a very narrow-minded religion)
reply

Sad ending. idk. couldn't he activate solar panels recharging or find spares to better himself or smthn. space is full of materials in comets asteroids etc. just a question that came in my head. hmm

reply

A human-made spacecraft that did not fall apart in 6000 years. While Robbie sure kept it going, it couldn't have had all the necessary components to maintain it for that long.
True fiction. :-)

reply

Man. this was good. You don't appreciate things until near the end as a human. Robbie seemed to appreciate things throughout his 6000 year life; including his friends.
reply

I doubt if the intellects at NASA would waste their time programming an advanced AI with religious nonsense. That was the part that spoiled it for me. Close but no cigar.
reply

this amongst other videos and movies really puts AI in a different light, this was touching and it drew me in feeling like i was apart of it. Bravo.
reply

Very good. One of the top Dust videos, It had a message and meaning that is very real in its irony. In ways more human than most humans.
reply

Weird, I just found two shorts that have robots with AI that are running out of battery power, and there are no humans to be found.
reply

I don't know if it's intentional. but at the end there is a number/code on the station. C0103. It can be interpreted as Colob.
reply

Looked like he’s in earth’s orbit but can’t communicate; how frustrating. I want to go up there and wake him.
reply

Wish I was stranded in space away from all the pathetic Woke lefty BS.
Wow amazing batteries lasted over 6000 years

reply

A fairly meaningful message wrapped in a rather infantile presentation.
Please, do this again, but do it well.

reply

He should have chosen to be Amish instead of Catholic and he never would have had to go to space. lol
reply

6, 000 years. Wow. Very touching, and very very well done. Thank you.
Bye Robbie - for now.

reply

A robot with a 6000-year battery life - I guess that pwr source would outlast solar panels: )
reply

That was so sad. I want to know what happened to earth in two thousand and forty something.
reply

If only he was able to pilot one of those two Soyuz docked. he would return home. ( 7: 50)
reply

I literally cried for Robbie!
Powerful!
Awesome concept!
Thank you!

reply

This is easily the best film on Dust I have ever seen. Simple. Powerful. Deeply moving.
reply

So touching! I’d love to know if he ever wake up! Sleep well my friend!
reply

The origins of the black night satellite just maybe hello from Australia
reply

Funny enough, the voice of the robot sounds very much like Echart Tolle. LOL
reply

I'm glad for DUST that many seemed to enjoy this, I myself did not.
reply

I never wanted to give a robot a hug as much as I want to hug Robbie.
reply

home. a place i've been searching for almost 20 years and found none
reply

You have managed to excite me. Beautiful and sad story at the same time. 10
reply

Actually brought me to tears. Robbie, we found your video. Sleep in peace!
reply
