During a sleepover, four 9-year-old girls obsessed with space embark on a secret mission in their cardboard rocket. When Dad returns home, what will become of their mission We're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing with the exclusive premiere of Space Girls on DUST. Space Girls by Carys Watford More About Space Girls: 'Space Girls' is a celebration of the power of imagination, the importance of STEM education and girl power! I wanted to make a fun adventure film about the wonders of space & the importance of space travel. The innocent wonder of childhood where playtime feels real, alive & magical felt like an ideal setting in which to explore these ideas. I was conscious about wanting the protagonists of the film to be a band of girls. The girls are smart, confident & determined they are obsessed with science & space & want to study hard to achieve their dreams. Geena Davis’ research has compellingly shown that female characters in kids’ media are often underdeveloped, sidelined or solely there as a plot device. It is important that we promote female agency & science positive goals for the next generation. Inspired by the adage If she can see it, she can be it I want Space Girls’ to promote & inspire young girls to dream big & work hard so that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. Even becoming an astronaut & travelling to outer space! Lovely. Muy hermoso.
I just want to say one thing: the mother is right. It is more important to solve the problems of Earth and Humanity, instead of betting on a titanic adventure.
Solo una cosa quiero decir: la madre tiene razon. Es mas importante resolver los problemas de la Tierra y la Humanidad, en vez de apostar a una aventura titanica.

So very adorable these kids are! It saddening to know, that children such as this, although they were acting, may never get the chance to see and be a part of the real space program, the hidden space program where we've journeyed to other stars, solar systems decades ago. Dr. Steven Greer tried and failed regardless of his IMMENSE and gallant effort.

This was so wonderful to see. I've just reached my 6th decade here, as a spiritual being on a physical plane. The longer my spirit lives here the more apparent it is that imagination is the joy that carries us forward. Don't ever let the Man Made Matrix program this out of you.

A charming film. I would be curious to see the story of these girls fast forwarded 10-15 years into the future, as they pass through evaluations, and the challenges of actual spaceflight. Well done is in order to the writers of this short.

Could have swore that I saw the ghost of Sputnik in the background. It might have been the Starship Enterprise, Event Horizon or Planet Express ship. Dr. Zoidberg likes to keep me in the dark on many things I believe.

I got a real black mirror vibe throughout this film, I was constantly on edge trying to figure out how this will all turn out to be some infinite purgatory or some other horror, but it was wholesome! Lovely

I'm surprised to find that this brought tears to my eyes as I contemplated the lost unlimited wonder of childhood, and how in had all but forgotten it.
I guess I'm getting old, but I was blessed by this.

This was so good although it made me cry because it brought back memories of my sisters and I pretending we were astronauts just like this film. I recently lost one of my sisters so it hit close to my heart

50' anniversario dell'allunaggio Prima di questo documentario avevo dubbi, ora ho certezza che tutti gli altri documentari e i libri che osano mettere la mala pianta del DUBBIO sono meri complotti di Goldstein.

That's what children should be doing, not locked in cages with adult issues! Those kids were so adorable reminds me of my 5 daughters (decades ago) doing fashion shows for me & wife. GREAT MEMORY!
reply

This should be an intro into a full length movie where we see the kids as adults embarking on a real space mission. Drawing on their creativity, they resolve a complex issue that saves humanity.

Talk about a bunch of cute girls. EACH in their own right. and all talented too! I bet they have a BIG future in film (hope it’s NOT hollyWEIRD though. don’t want to see them ruined.

Did anyone notice the storms seemed to form a line that followed the curvature of the earth at 6: 35
I think I understand how it was made and why it was forming that way.

this is an extraordinary short film. I love the cause of STEM and girl power. Fantastic young actors. Everyone with an eye towards the future should watch this.

This is so very cool on so many levels. took me back to my childhood and pretending it was I on the moon in 1969.
REALLY well done, congrats to all!

I was expecting, and hoping for, a different ending--showing adult women in a spaceship looking out; their imaginations having become their futures.
reply

That was so adorable! Imagination intermingled with authentic footage done masterfully. A feel good story all around. Well done and thank you.

When I was that age all the girls wanted to do was to play with Barbie Dolls and Kenner Easy Bake Ovens. I am so glad that era is put to rest.
reply

Lovely! Sweetest of all presentations I have seen so far. Brought me right back to my own fantasies at that age and I'm pushing 70.
reply

It's not a Sci-Fi movie, it's a parenting tutorial; -) Shame we created school system that is hell-bent on destroying imagination: (

That was really sweet and adorable, great acting and the little bow was just perfect. I bet they had a lot of fun filming this.

My second time finding and watching. Absolutely one of my favorite shorts. The writing, the acting, everything; superb.

This is the cutest, cleverest and the most beautiful film I've ever seen. Hats off to the team who made this.

This was adorable and amazing! Very well done! Also, we've found Elon Musk's first crew for Mars. :D
reply

Ten years on, the Space Girls go on their Space World tour, selling out stadiums around the globe.
reply

It's unfortunate that as we get older, we cross that line between imagination and reality.
reply

7 year-olds and Elon Musk can still dream, the rest of us have burned out - God's speed to them!
reply

This was adorable! All of them were fantastic. Wish I'd had wholesome space-dad: ')
reply

I do not understand why over 1000 thumbs are down! Were these people never children
reply

Loved it! The only problem was the sound - barely hearable even at full volume.
reply

It's nice to see the lighter and hopeful side of DUST. Such a sweet short: -)
