Life over here in Euroland is clearly different from the midwest US. When the doorbell sounds we have at most a. 22 long rifle readily at hand. It is mostly relatives or Jehova's witnesses, neither of which are prone to budge easily and get scared away. It is just not as easy to purchase any amount of firearms sufficient for your actual needs.

If you are really prepared then there is no need for all out panic with no reason or logic, just straight up manic. This is how most of the preppers are. No solar powered cameras with their own network, so he does not need to actually look outside. Also he is destroying his shelter without waiting to see what his opponent is going to do.
