10 WEIRD Gaming Stories of September 2022 Michael: I'm a hard-core PC guy. That being said I absolutely don't hate on console players. Having a limited budget to spend on entertainment I decided long ago to invest heavily in a single platform so that I can have the best possible experience that platform has to offer; as opposed to spreading my money across several platforms only to have somewhere between a mediocre to good experience. The main disadvantage or disappointments I've encountered as a PC Gamer are:
1) Exclusive content. I missed out on some experiences like RDR 1 and other awesome-looking games that were never released on PC.
2) Lan parties are WAY more complicated / difficult with PCs as they are unwieldy and bulky to move around; whereas consoles are pretty much designed to be compact and easily transported.
3) Many games today are designed for console first then ported over to PC, often making the UI and controls awkward and klunky. Also by designing for console first, the graphic experience is sometimes not nearly as good as it could be on PC. Kudos to companies like RockStar though for taking extra time when porting to PC - RDR2 and GTAV are prime examples of porting done right.

the way games journalists cover star citizen pisses me off, they always cover it in negativly, showing REALLY old footage and clips and mostly talking about money spent to make it.
Star citizen is really fun to play right now, in its current form its more immersive and feature rich than any other space game i have played, a big learning curve but a wonderful community of people who enjoy playing it Right Now, Its so easy to see that none of these people have done any research on the current state of the game.
-Single player is very close to completion
-They have recently opened a MASSIVE office in Manchester UK
-the persistent universe is coming online before the end of the year
-Server meshing turning the game into MMO sized servers by the 1st quater of next year.
Star citizens community has seen huge technologies being developed and consistently Huge updates that bring gamechanging new features.

The peregrine falcon, also known as the peregrine, and historically as the duck hawk (LOL c'mon America) in North America, is a cosmopolitan bird of prey in the family Falconidae. A large, crow-sized falcon, it has a blue-grey back, barred white underparts, and a black head.
Speed: 390 km/h (Maximum, Diving)
Wingspan: 74 120 cm (Adult)
Clutch size: 3 4
Conservation status: Least Concern (Population stable)
Mass: 0. 7 1. 5 kg (Female, Adult, 0. 33 1 kg (Male, Adult)
Scientific name: Falco peregrinus
Length: 34 58 cm (Adult)
The peregrine falcon is a symbol of aspiration, ambition, power, speed, and freedom. They offer protection to you as a spirit animal, especially during transitional periods. Those who have peregrine falcons as their spirit animal are attentive, perceptive, and have a strong sense of purpose.
Now you know why

I see where you are coming from in #1. A pc has a lot of uses that a console just doesn t have. But if you you just want an amazing gaming experience a console is the way to go in terms of cost. PC s for me were something that was the ultimate gaming experience if you shell out the cash, you have fast load times and great graphics which ultimately you can get from this current gen of consoles.
The ultimate perk that pc s have now is modding games, the new nvidia 40 series, letting crazy raytracing with the added frames. But if dev figure out how to at the very least crank games frame rate to a constant 60fps with 4K and Ray tracing, then consoles would be a better grab if you just want to play games and only games because of that 500 dollar price tag.

I'm an early adopter of Star Citizen.
I have DONATED more than I'm happy to admit.
That said, it's made leaps and bounds in recent years and the tech being developed leads to easier creation of future content. In other words, they're not just making a full life-sized fully explorable planet, but the tools necessary to quickly and easily make hundreds of full life-sized fully explorable planets.
When I started we were excited to have a space station and ships to fly around in space - now there are a dozen fully rendered planets and moons with cities and orbiting stations along with missions and unbelievable features never before seen in MMOs.
Soooo. it's got that going for it.

I am a PC gamer from the mid to late 80s all the way to right now. PC building is always going to be more expensive, that's the price we pay for expandability, new hardware, new software and so on. Consoles may do a mid life upgrade like the Pro or what have you, but PCs evolve constantly, the tech, the software, to me that justifies the cost we pay. This isn't some rich guys saying this that can build when and wherever he wants, I make less money than the US standard for poverty, but as a life long gamer, I understand, accept and save, to keep the on going evolution of PCs, instead of a 7 year console gen, then upgrading hardware and software.

On the Tekken dev topic and the people commenting silly things about it under his tweet. I don't think you can really compare console and PC as the 2 are generally vastly different price points, The XBSX and PS5 are REALLY good consoles for the money. but they have some limits that are already starting to show in the frame rate and resolution department and when you start spending serious money on top spec PC hardware you're going to have a gaming machine that is quite literally 3-4 times more powerful than either the XBSX or PS5. but again that amount of computational horse power comes at a steep price.

I know exactly what he means, it is unfair how strong consoles are for the price. To get a pc with the same specs, I m spending 200 dollars more minimum. I don t have that kind of money, so I had to go with a console because I just couldn t afford a pc. Even building it yourself doesn t bring it down, because consoles are sold at a loss, so I d still be paying more and have to spend time putting it all together. So I m just gonna have to save up for a few years, till I can afford to buy all the parts, and just hope I m not missing out on too much

About a decade out of the pc builder loop I've recently gotten back into the info n researching loop regarding today's pc parts and the piles of stuff to know about it and ye, Nvidia really seems to be, quite frankly, taking the piss this month. Between rebranded 4070, EVGA shitshow and taking advantage of the last 2 year GPU shortage to further up the new MSRPs on 4000 series.
Great cards, great engineers, absolute dog shit business practices. Nvidia in a nutshell.

The console complaint is better boiled down to A land line phone costs less to make a phone call than a cell phone if all you want to do is make phone calls.
A PC can do stuff that a console could never even dream of doing. Hell even a Raspberry pi can be configured into a brain for a robot! Its actually shocking that we put SO MUCH POWER and money into a retail appliance that basically replicates 1 small aspect of a computer, gaming.

So much passive aggressive snark for Star Citizen. Use old clips, harp on the only thing you know about without actually checking the game out, how much the company has made and then keep comparing it to RDR2? Are you kidding? They are completely different games being made in completely different ways. The only thing they have in common is pretty graphics. Why not compare it to the original NES Mario if you are going to be idiotic about it?
reply

I think the people that made the graphical claims are some of a few people that fit in one or more of four groups.
trolls that want to stir a pot, little kids just don't know better, don't play games, modern style dumb.
Ever since I was a kid and before I looked into programing and development process a little, it just made since to me that mechanics and functionality came first.

You can play SC now. I started playing a few years ago during the 3. 5 days and the growth has been exponential. The scale and detail of that project go way beyond RDR2. It's only 45 bucks to purchase the game - but they also do free flights all the time where they give you ships to take out. It's not perfect, and I wouldn't consider it a game yet. But it's a very unique experience.

When I was younger I was all into PC gaming. While I still think it s superior my main computer is a Mac and I game on my Series X and PS5 mostly out of ease and yes price point. I have a demanding job so the less time having to fuss for gaming satisfaction the better. I ramble to my wife (in old man voice) of the slight annoyance of having to install and update games off the disk.
