Gotham Knights: What WENT WRONG? groomers: Game isn't even as bad as yall make it out to be, it only has performance issues, and even that isn't as bad as people make it to be, combat is fine. The storyline is enjoyable, people talk about grind but it really isn't that grindy, I think the game shouldn't had been released until it was more stable, especially for console players (so much for being next gen lmao) and games shouldn't be released with the mentality of I'll patch it later, but the game is solid, people just wanna cry about everything. If you don't like it then don't buy it, and don't buy games without reviewing it first, that's your fault for still pre-ordering after the disaster cyberpunk was.

what went wrong with gotham knights:
. salty arkham fanboys comparing it and review bombing the game, like srsly we get it u guys like arkham, i 've even played all the arkham games on pc and i enjoyed them and yet i went in gotham knights with the expectation of it not being like arkham or have Arkham like combat, i ve played gotham knights with a friend for over 20+ hours and we are still enjoying it, its just trolls have to ruin everything and fanboys, at the end of the day idc what any one says about the game. These days reviewers and game journalists like ign or others are a joke, they gave this game a 5/10 and they only had 2 hours in to the game, open your eyes guys form your own opinions and do not listen negative clout chasers or reviewers, try the game for yourself and see if you like it. You should never go by another person's opinion.
P. S also with the fps thing, i do realize this game has optimization and fps issues, but the they are working on it with the latest patch

About as fun as banging rocks together in the freezing rain. Some insane people may find that fun, but doesn't change the fact you're just fruitlessly banging rocks together. I. E. The game is a boring, tired, terribly optimized chore to play because of it's uninspired city, button mashy combat, over padded story, slow ass traverse system, terrible exp progression, and a complete waste of the court of owls.
If you're one of those people that bought Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers title. Then this is for you and your terrible, terrible taste for video games.

This game literally feels like the inFAMOUS: Second Son of this generation where it falls into the similar trappings compared to the rest of its respective franchise. Don't get me wrong, I love inFAMOUS: Second Son, but I'm just saying this feels like a game that I'm sure people would have appreciated more in 2014 than now, especially before Arkham Knight blew the scope of what an Arkham game can aspire to be out of the water, but yea, once I saw it as inFAMOUS: Second Son rather than an Arkham game, I started enjoying it more.

This game should ve been a slam dunk
You already had the combat system and necessary animations for all 4 characters from Arkham Knight. You already had Batman dead at the end as well. If needed you could kill of Jim Gordon in the first mission and then continue the Arkham story from there.
Just make a game that uses the existing framework and makes improvements on it (similar to Arkham Origins. I love the idea of a co-op Arkham title but everything else has been a substantial downgrade.

WB Montreal: This isn t related to the Batman Arkham games at all. It s a new universe and a whole new game.
Everyone: Batman: Arkham (which ever) is so much better. How d they regress?
I feel like the game must be doing well because critics will not stop talking about how bad this game is. Yet player count on steam isn t wavering. It s a fine game overall. Yeah, there s some real optimization issues that need to be fixed, but damn is it a fun game overall.

All it comes down to is it feels like a game released 7-10 years ago and even then quite a few games released 7-10 years ago just felt more put together and thought out than this. Doesn t matter this isn t an Arkham game, when it s the same franchise using the same IP after a masterpiece trilogy using said IP they had HUGE shoes to fill. Can t say I d do better but I can say I wouldn t have tried to knowing the size of the looming shadow that is the Arkham games.

I feel like this game suffers the same way cod mw2 is kinda going through older players compare the new games to the old and the nostalgia of the old games ruins the possibility of the new being fun cause it doesn't feel like the old game or plays the same way you can't always compare and expect the new games to be the way the old ones were you just gotta accept that the old game was good and go to the new game with an open mind and something new

I m level 40 (max level) have beaten new games plus (took me two days) it s honestly boring asf. Once you beat the game there s nothing to do. You spend the game doing crimes In the same building. There s no countering. There s not a boost on the bike cycle and (it sucks) I m max level and I ve almost unlocked all abilities there s no more AP after you reach max level. I wouldn t play this game if I were you. Waste of time.

If there's one thing I hate, it's when companies needlessly shoe in spongy enemies with health bars, give leveled equipment, and other things. It's not a live service game so it shouldn't have that shit. They should've not done the co op and honestly stuck with the standard Arkham style gadgets and free flow system. Why change something that works? They should've kept what works and improved upon what didn't.

People are missing the point of this question of What went wrong? , they're asking what went wrong because A GAME THAT CAME OUT 7 YEARS AGO SHOULD NOT LOOK, PLAY, AND HAVE A BETTER STORY THAN SOMETHING THAT COMES OUT IN 2022.
If you enjoy it, great, amazing, happy for you, but don't take it personally. This game was a supreme disappointment, and after 2 years of waiting, they let us down HARD. It sucks.

I kept seeing early gameplay and there were few videos/comments about this game not looking very good for a 2022 release. Even if you don t compare it, the story is laughable and fluffed to make it seem like it s worth the money. I m glad it s getting some of the hate. They need it otherwise all Arkham games could be like this. We need to let the devs know - don t make this mistake again!

I haven't played this but I can't help but feel that the art direction is what doomed this game to fail. It looks good, but it also looks like the Arkham games. They either should've changed the style of animation (maybe cell shading or something) OR changed the look of Gotham completely to maybe like a more Tim Burton looking city or something. It all just looks way too much like Arkham

With not having played any of the arkam series in judging Gotham knights I just sit here amused because I love this game with nothing to compare it to thus just enjoying what it is its glitches on me of course and it has just flat out turned off but I look for reasons to enjoy my purchases I'm just sorry that people with knowledge of games prior don't enjoy this one as much

The Arkham story isnt finished because of the true, 100% ending of Knight, and the game basically tells you that. Also, Gotham Knights was changed to not be considered a sequel/spin-off. Technically, lore-wise it is the sequel because Arkham 4 (not including Origins, obv) would have to deal with the Court of Owls, which were only hinted at being a bigger part of Gotham in Knight
