Yes, the switch is now very underpowered, and in need of an upgrade or a next gen version, but can we please stop blaming the Switch for crappy game optimization for companies like Gamefreak? Blaming the recent Pokemon on the Switch when multiple open world Switch exclusive games exist, is giving Gamefreak and the Pokemon company too easy of an out. Breathe of the Wild 2 is about to come out, and we'll see how it is on the Switch. If it's optimized like it was in Breathe of the Wild 1, then Gamefreak needs some help. Because all of their games on the Switch have been questionable in quality in recent years.
I'd be a bit understanding Pokemon was a cross platform title, but it's not. It's the biggest media franchise in the world, and is partly owned by Nintendo. Gamefreak and Pokemon Company need to reach out to Nintendo and get some help on how to develop on Nintendo's platforms. If this keeps happening on the next gen (like it seemed to happen on most of the Gamefreak Pokemon games on the Switch) the Pokemon company should consider new developers for the next Pokemon game.

#7 - I really dont know where i stand on game delays. I try to give studios the benefit of the doubt when a game gets delayed because it just happens. Devs set what they believe to be a realistic launch date, but it just doesnt work out. When that happens we get one or the other: the game is an unfinished and buggy mess that takes a half dozen patches just to be playable, or crunch. I dont mind when a game gets delayed. But when months turn into years, thats when we need to figure things out.
#5 - I get that we needed to shift from next gen to current gen and Im not too critical about it. Devs spend a lot of time and money making games and want people to buy them and play them. Only way to do that when the next gen consoles are in short supply: cros generation release. At the time of this video, most releases for '23 is cross gen and my local Gamestop has PS5's in stack (allegedly. Heres hoping this'll be the last years of cros gen.

Dragonball Z Kakarot looks better and run better than Pokemon
Trials of Mana looks better and run better than Pokemon
NieR Automata looks better and run better than Pokemon.

#7 is actually something that NEEDS to stay. Studios SHOULD be delaying games if it's not 100% done. Full stop. I'm glad Elden ring was delayed (but would've been happier if it had another month of polish, I'm glad engage had another year to receive more polish, Idc about GOW, but it definitely benefited from its delay. There is no scenario where it is better for a game to come out sooner, if there's anything that needs even a day of work. I know that we want our games when we expect them, and we live in a society where immediate gratification is king, but anyone that would rather have a rushed product over a finished, polished one, is a fool; and such people are the reason games are consistently released in unfinished states.

I really would love video game news outlets would stop pushing the lie of console excusive. Looking at the steam page for Last of Us part 1 right now. 90% of the games they call exclusive are not truly exclusive to PS and XBOX. Spiderman is not a PS exclusive its available on PC. Halo and Forza are not Xbox exclusives there available on PC. only one console has exclusives and thats the the Switch. Also would love live service to die of. battlefield is a failure because of it and COD while doing a better job at it is still half of what we used to get with a 15 dlc.

I think game developers need to stop announcing games that are years upon years away like i was so hyped elder scrolls 6 reveal trailer and they were first saying or insinuating it was supposed to be released that year then later saying they haven't even started devolvement. And all that hype has died and I'm not even sure if I'm gonna have interest in playing it when it releases due to just most interest lost when it was revealed way to early. I don't think there should announce a game before it's at maximum of 1 year away.

Honestly devs need to start standing firm and not letting marketing push for early game release date announcements: there shouldn't be any public dates given unless they know they can deliver 100% of the intended product by that time. As for NFTs, the majority are thankfully dead in the water, but I'm nervous about Square Enix. Matsuda seems hellbent on pushing the concept into their IPs, and I fear we may see it integrated into mainline games like FF going forward.

I mean, there's a light side of the moon with #1. The idea of having a version of DLC or an item that's totally unique? That's actually pretty neat. The blockchain and everything tied to that, not neat. Think Sea Of Thieves. When you start, you're plunged into the IPG (or infinite pirate generator) and can generate a roster of totally unique never-seen-before pirates made with a set of features and sliders like missing eyes, age, and weight. That's cool.

Is poor performance on the Switch all that surprising really? It is significantly less powerful than many modern mobile telephones or even single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi. It is also six years old. Nintendo has focussed on 'gameplay' not graphics since the SNES bowed out. However there are limits. I still very much enjoy playing 'Legacy of Kain' on my original XBox, but I do not complain that it hasn't got Witcher3 visuals or gameplay!

7: 55 I would say that's probably also the reason for all the delays. If some of those games you listed were next gen exclusive, or were mandated to be next gen exclusives, then pushing them back makes sense.
Because I would be absolutely amazed to find out NFS unbound sold as poorly as it did, purely due to it's game quality, and not because so few people had access to the next gen console. kind of pointless to buy a game if you can't play it.

Still don't understand why developers remove the graphics options from games or simplify them to just one toggle on consoles and not keep them like they are on pc that would make development for cross platform and even cross generation easier or am I wrong
And for the switch Nintendo should make an console keep the switch as it is and make it so that games are account bound so you can just download the games that where bought for the switch

Everyone always jumps on me when I say delays are a bad sign. Sure, one or two kind of early in the announcement cycle (It's coming out in December but we delayed it back in March) are pretty standard fare, and it's clear that the 2022 Delayining is a response to customer backlash, but if a game is constantly getting delayed over and over and over, yes it's going to be better than if it hadn't been delayed, but it doesn't mean it'll be good.

aloy's constant talking in horizon is so annoying. every time i get to a puzzle, before i even begin to try figure it out she blurts out some shit like maybe there is a wall i can climb going to have to find a way around maybe i can use that crate. just stfu and give me a chance to play the game. if i dont figure it out in a minute or two, then you can blurt out a hint. i didnt really notice it too much in gow or xenoblade.

Last year was so bad for in-game dialogues. It was either High On Life never ending banter, God Of War handholding on puzzle solving, OR it was Elden Ring completely neglecting you.
It's like developers forgot how to balance it out. Not even Sekiro was as negligent to the player as Elden Ring was, and not even the original god of war games were so full of never-ending cutscenes like the new ones were.
