10 Best Games of 2023 [FIRST HALF] Universal_Wisdom: Hogwarts Legacy was actually a really fun game. I ended up pausing my playthrough because the story just wasn t that intriguing to me and that s my only complaint. I liked the griffin story development though. Seeing a majestic beast and the hunters trying to capture it, forming the bond and eventually riding one. It was a really cool experience. I just wish the story was a bit more central to Hogwarts instead of whichever direction it s heading.

Playing through FFXVI right now. Experiencing a lot of high highs and low lows. While its an overall superb game, I can't say I'm enjoying everything. FFXVI demands that you understand its story. It has many systems to ensure you know about every character, faction, relationship, timeline history, and so on. This can be daunting for some players because it's a lot of cutscenes to get through, and this can be frustrating for impatient gamers who want more action and combat which is really good in FFXVI. If you don't like the story that FFXVI is selling, it won't be long before you fall off from this game, but if you're patient, FFXVI gets more satisfying the further you progress.

Yeah dunno about adding a game that ran like shit and crashed so much, i actually got into a crash loop at a certain point and couldn't get past after a patch. Maybe in a year. Also would not say outlast trials is taking steam by storm, it takes twitch and the internet by storm for a week but there's only 5k players on right now for a game that centers around multiplayer. For a better idea of things, l4d2 has 50k right now and Wu long which is like an ok not hyped at all SP game which has 3. 5kish. Just think this list could be better tbh but guess the year hasn't been that great.

So you guys choose Hogwarts Legacy over Dead Space remake, was because you didn't want 2 remakes on the list? Hogwarts Legacy imo is an average game at best, also if we are comparing as the best games we can't forget the buggy mess that the game was released, Dead Space remake yes it's just a remake from an already good game but they did it so much better, devs didn't cut corners and improove on what the game was already good, for me it's a way better game. Ofc it's just my 50 cents but i bet theres a lot of people who agrees with me.

Every time I watch a gameranx video (which are great ) I always notice the overuse and misuse of certain words, such as obviously. No, it isn't obvious that RE4 remake is one of the weirder games in the franchise, and I don't think the town in RE4 is literally crazy either.
Edit: Kudos for saying of course instead of obviously about Diablo 4 chars having depth, but it's still wrong, the accurate term is as always or unsurprisingly; It is not of course as a matter of fact. Sounds nitpicky but it's starting to bug me: S

Great Triple AAA list. Though I honestly don t like any of them. Maybe Final Fantasy piques my interest. Too much emphasis in open world or remakes. Nothing new really. I rather play COD or Destiny. This new generation of gaming blows. It s like everyone wants to remake Minecraft their own way. I can only hope the Robo Cop game and the eventual Wolverine game justify buying the PS5. For me it s been a disappointing year for video game titles.

I cannot believe that Dead Island 2 is not on this list. I have been addicted to that game since its release. It kept the good stuff like weapon crafting, and removed the bad stuff like base building. It made the zombies bigger and more disgusting than the first titles. And added lots of glorious gore. I laugh maniacally at the way I maim zombies.
With 5 million current sales, and mostly positive, it deserves a place on this list

Dead Island 2 was definitely underrated. I didn't have a game to play at the time so I picked it up not expecting much, but once I got a few hours into it I started really digging it. Fun first person melee combat, an accomplishment in itself, fun characters, great visuals, great feeling of progression and exploration. Definitely agreed with the list, even if a couple of games just aren't my cup of tea.

How the hell Hogwarts legacy is the best game of 2023? Game was boring as hell and felt uninspired despite I am a huge harry Potter fan myself, except Hogwarts design OST and ps5 exclusive quest, there was nothing good in this game, they are just selling this game in the name of harry potter and wayyyy tooooo much overrated, effing 9. 1 user score in meta, seriously guys are you kidding me?

Jedi Survivor had a great opportunity to compete for Game of the Year, but it s horrendous initial release on both the Consoles and PC really took the steam out of what ended up being a pretty good game. Hogwarts is a fantastic game, but man Tears of the Kingdom may have just rapped up Game of the Year, but I d like to see the upcoming Spider-Man game before I can say for sure.

I m still playing Hogwarts Legacy lol. Have 4 characters for all four houses. Man, that game is just absolutely amazing. Let s also not forget that is was Avalanches first AAA game. It was actually a full game at release, with little to no problems. I was and still am so impressed by that game. Probably because I had serious doubts about it before it came out.

I haven t beat Star Wars yet because of ToTK and I haven t touch some of these games yet but here s my list
Zelda
RE4
Star Wars(so far what I played and it s good)
Dead Space(first time playing it and it s was a good time)
Fire Emblem
I m looking forward to get Hogwarts(not a Harry Potter fan but I think this looks good) and FFXVI

I'm currently playing FF XVI. It's really good, so far. With that said, I still prefer turn-base jrpg waaaaaay more. I can't help it, I'm old school like that. Imo, it'd be cool if, somehow, Square Enix could've taken the same formula and turned FF XVI into a 2. 5D Castlevania style of game. I know most won't agree, but one can only dream.

I really hope Hi-Fi Rush isn t forgotten by the end of the year. It was so fresh and fun, I truly enjoyed every second of it. I was just on Metacritic yesterday and saw about 50 people review bombing it and calling it trash, 0/10. Sometimes I really hate the internet. Subtlety is dead. I haven t played a more polished, fun game in a long time.

The internet every year: gaming is ruined, all games suck
Great games every year: am I a joke to you?
You want great games? There are shit ton of great games every year, you just gotta be patient and look for them.
But noooo acording to the internet gamers and gaming journos the gaming industry is bad and dead
Smh.

nope on yakuza there is no english dub I bought the game with English characters and was expecting like the first Like a Dragon but nope I will read Japanese stuff but I will not play it, it takes away from being able to see the atmosphere when you are reading the stuff
(you should prob also warn people that there is no english dub)

Yeah idk about hogwarts legacy, the only thing about it that s innovative is the fact that it s a Harry Potter game. Without the Harry Potter aspect it would be worse than forspoken. Not trying to hate, I definitely enjoyed it for what it was but if they plan on making a sequel they really need to innovate on the combat and story.

Hi-Fi Rush, Hogwarts Legacy and Dead Space Remake were solid openers for me this year. Enjoyed the heck out of them, a lot of heart put in these games. Specially Hogwarts Legacy because after the good old PS1 game I had given up on ever seeing a good game based in HP universe, Hogwarts Legacy more than scratched that itch for me.

Final fantasy XVI is my GOTY. To me its special because it s the first ff game I experienced at launch, never have I felt such a great package in quite awhile since persona 5. Jedi survivor is a close second while Spider-Man 2 is on the horizon, RE4 Remake and Street Fighter 6 is something a wanna get into before the year ends

I've come to realise one of the things that bugs me in modern games is all the shaking cameras. It bugs me in films as well, but it's particularly annoying in games. They put so much effort into the visuals and then make if difficult to see any of the amazing artwork etc by making the camera shake like crazy all the time!
