10 Single Player Games That Were ALMOST A Masterpiece
video description
Besides that the only other problems I can think of are the map being too cluttered with chests, too many enemies shoot at you in combat, and the modern day is pointless and doesn't build off of the modern day from AC 3 or Black Flag.
Otherwise black box missions are great, lots of options for outfit customization and weapons, Paris is well detailed, lots of fun side content, Dead Kings is one of the best DLCs in the series, and the game still sticks to the Assassins Creed concept rather than sidelining or disregarding it.

Mass Effect 3 is incredible indeed. Amazing gameplay, probably the most memorable moments of the series, but A LOT of bugs (like getting stuck in a part of the Normandy, needing to load a save, and some story crap that was crazy, like Illusive Man becoming a generic bad man, the entire Catalyst schtick and, for me, not having a definitive canon ending, whcih will have to be resolved to exist a Mass Effect 4.
GTA V is the weakest main story, and I hated the 3 protagonist mechanic. An unpopular opinion, but I dislike Trevor, although Steven Ogg is perfect in the role. He is a great character, but not one that I would like to be using. Plus, having 3 protagonists takes away my customization of the characters. I put some clothes in my character, and everytime I get into a mission, they changed the clothes because it wouldn't fit the mission. In this regard, GTA SA is still the funniest game of the series, and, aside from the gameplay and graphics, which improved from IV to V, I would rather play with Niko than any of the V protagonists

I love how in Dark Souls 1 you can trivialize some of the worst aspects of some maps, tired of slow crawling through a poison swamp? Go to the Undead Asylum and pick the Rusted Iron Ring. Have trouble going though Blighttown? Pick the Master Key or the Thief Class and go through the shortcut by New Londo Ruins. The lava in Lost Izalith makes you wanna rip your eyeballs off? Pay 30 humanities to the Fair Lady and use the shortcut to skip all that underdeveloped shithole.
I miss something like this in later souls games, specially in Dark Souls 3, which i find is the most linear of the trillogy

The problem with Spider-Man 2018 IS NOT the open world stuff. That's what made me feel the most like your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. It was the necessity of playing as Mary Jane. Sadly their idea of fixing it in the sequel was to make her OP with the ability to take down kraven's goons immediately while her super powered boyfriend has trouble doing the same, which while being better than the if they spot you the mission is over is not what we buy a Spider-Man game for. I'd rather an ENTIRE game of Miles deaf girlfriend than another Mary Jane mission. At least those were creative.

the no2 is exactly why i dont play zelda games, i never tried it on switch despite i bought it, i never played it on pc even with better visuals and 60 fps, i get it, its encouraging player try out all the weapons instead of sticking to one op weapons, but the weapons just arent diversified enough to make a difference, plus i think it could have makes weapon durability 5 to 10 times higher, that it would breaks after 5 to 10 fight or after something like 2 to 3 hours, that way you still need to use different weapons and have to save good one for tough fight but not annoying

Arkham Knight could be on the next list or on another list of games that almost hit the mark. Great graphics, great design for Gotham City, new gadgets, tougher enemies to fight, and most fluid combat in the series. My second favorite game in the Arkham series. It just feels like it needs more of the villains in the story rather than being in the side content, less story plot holes such as joker's blood turning people into him for some strange reason, better boss fights, and less batmobile at times, though I don't mind the batmobile like other players do.

I really don t see why people praise unity so much. When I played it about a year or so ago, it felt incredibly monotonous to even just parkour around. For me if the free running feels janky, I m out. On top of that most of the characters were extremely forgettable, the melee combat felt extremely slow, and the only real thing that redeems the game in my eyes was the setting. The world was absolutely breathtaking, and easily one of their best ever made in that regard. Still though I will never go back to it, due to how janky and clunky free running felt.

I guess I'm in the minority for always having loved the water temple!
When I played OoT on the 3DS, I was trying to figure out why the water temple felt so easy to get through (it had been a while since I played that game, and then I learned they fixed the water temple. I remember people saying they liked it so much better, but I truly did love the original (though I did like not having to flip through menus to equip the iron boots.

Mass Effect 3 ripped my guts out. The ending. Well, you know. The Citadel DLC was a masterpiece, though, and I went back and played through the Citadel DLC three times after bawling my eyes out at the end of the main game. And then did the ending again. And got upset all over again. Even with all that, Mass Effect Legendary was my favorite gaming experience, and I have another run ready to go.

Pokemon games in general the fact that you need to trade some pokemons to evolve. It ages terribly to older games
Insomiacs Spiderman 2, they went quality over quantity. Its perfect But give me more quantity
Super mario wonder, those terrible camera controlls when you play multiplayer and the fact you cant interact anymore with other players (picking them up throwing etc)

I find it weird to mention Dark Souls as a near perfect game but not mentioning the actual problem most people have with the game, which is the entire second half of the game (Especially Lost Izalith/Demon Ruins, and the Tomb of the Giants. Blighttown's framerate issues haven't been a problem since the 360 era, but the second half will always be a stain on this game's legacy.

Totally agree with MGS5. From a gameplay standpoint, it s the best in the series by far, but it s still my least favorite game in the series because the story makes it not even FEEL like a MGS game. The quirky humor, fun characters, and complex but compelling story is practically absent and I was left really disappointed and have revisited every game but this one.

Dark Souls is an absolute masterpiece, Blight Town is very well designed and even though some areas in the game arent completely polished, Izalith for example, the whole experience, concepts, gameplay, story, etc it has make it a masterpiece, one of the few games I wanted to replay multiple times in years, also, Mass Effect Trilogy is a masterpiece for sure.

I'm surprised I have not seen Bioshock Infinite mentioned here or the comments. Unfortunately the game was overpromised, but if we look at it without all the marketing and hype, it's a darn good Bioshock game, with some repetitive elements but a great story and solid gameplay. And the DLCs are some of the best things ever done in a videogame.

I would like to add Borderlands 3 into the mix. Fun gameplay, expansion of the types of elements in guns and the vault hunter abilities were varied and unique. What held it back was the main antagonists, the twins. They felt one dimensional and boring. The mini bosses had more personality and they would've been better as the main antagonist.

Mad Max should have definitely made the list; in fact, it should have replaced GTA5! The car mechanics (ironically) are rage inducing and the side missions couldn't be more monotonous. There are few games that I've played where the side missions align so erroneously with story progress. particularly if you're aiming for 100% completion.

i disagree so much with GOW 3(is it on the list? it appeared just in the intro) and Gta 5( it had an incredible satirical main story, most people just didnt understand it) being on the list, , but i love the concept of the video, this is the boldest content you ve made! Keep it up, do more of your real takes, not just neutral stuff.

blighttown is truly my fav area in dark souls 1(descent from sewers). yes fps on the kids calculators were horrible but thats not my problem. i know alot of people hate on these kinda areas in souls and that is also why in elden ring there are barely any challenging areas. because you guys are all female reproduction organs

Blight town is a good pick, fighting dragon butts in the slapped together lava world of Lost Izalith, or the Bed of Chaos would have been good picks too.
Although there was a large enemy variety over all, the mini bosses in the small Elden ring Dungeons could also be a sticking point, but most of those are optional.
