8 Recent Gaming Trends That Absolutely SUCK
video description
As for aim assist etc, the problem here is that console controllers are just rubbish for first person shooters etc. Console developers just need to get over themselves and either make their consoles compatible with mouse and keyboard, or create a mouse and keyboard type controller. Console controllers are great for many game types, but they absolutely suck for first/third person shooters and similar games. Not only that, but they've ruined a lot of the 'classic' online FPS such as Battlefield and CoD because all those games are now made with controllers in mind which means everything has a scope or is a bullet hose. Battlefield 1 would have been great if they'd cut out the SMG's and scopes; having the majority of players using bolt action rifles with iron sights would have made for a much better game, just like the early BF and CoD games.

On the Bethesda point, I would have defended them years ago as I loved the studio.
But over the years its become painfully clear just how rotten they are on the upper echelons.
Starfield being a great example of how they refuse to innovate and improve, instead trying to earn as much as possible with as little as possible effort.
And while I'm done defending them, saying they should switch to another engine like Unreal is completely INANE.
The only reason they are capable of allowing fans to create such extensive and large mods is due to the Creation Engine.
Unreal will never give the same freedom and ease of modding as the creation engine has.
And we all know Bethesda games are not being played all these years later due to their incredible "infinite side quests".
The only thing they should do (and should have done literally 10 years ago) is team up with the big unofficial patch teams to find and mark all flaws found in the engine and how they fixed it.
Then apply those fixes while upgrading the engine to today's standards instead of the petty patchwork they gave it for Starfield.
But despite rolling in money, the top does not want to invest money in such things.
So the current version of the Creation Engine is up to the standards of 2015.

After hearing about #7 I had to tell people who weren't aware on why these licensed games were bad back when I was a kid. Especially when it comes to those computer games that promise one thing but you get something else and by that I mean something worse. When I heard that there was going to be a new Indiana Jones game, I said "Lets hope that this one doesn't suck like the other ones" and I meant it. Also yes SOMEONE acknowledges how bad PC ports AND Switch ports on the same video. It just makes a good machine look bad, especially when the PC is suppose to be the most powerful one out of any of the gaming consoles. So why do the ports there look like trash I'm also tired of talking trash about the Switch as well and act like games on the PS5 and Xbox Series X don't run on 30 fps when they do and it's becoming more common as games come out.

for PC ports i've said it before and i'll say it again, game developers these days need to learn how to make games for PC primarily, as developers of the past used to, then port them to consoles. you don't build a roof and then put down foundations. that kinda house will always fall apart. PC games are the foundations upon which all other console games can thrive on if only games were once again built for PC first and foremost.
i LIVE on mods. seriously. every game i own i first play as intended but any consecutive playthroughs i mod them, some heavily some just changing skins - from adding new things to changing existing one, from making the game easier to making it that much harder. mods add so much replayability i don't think developers are aware of just how much, making each playthrough almost an entirely new experience.

Personally I hate most bad switch port now Im not going to say they have much to work with considering hardware of that machine but just to name few bad and good ports:
Pretty good is AC rebel collection
But how could AC 3 remastered look even worse then original on ps3 and xbox 360.
Also awesome is NFS Hot Pursuit
But how can game run and look so hideous as WRC series
Many many good and unbelievable ports came on switch (Witcher 3, Hogwarts legacy, even subnautica is ok, alien isolation, outlast series, layers of fear, metro and crysis series, those I named b4, personas, skyrim and many more) so why both companies as nintendo and devs gotta be so greedy. I thought good ports= more purchases and no need for huge discounts since everyone would want to play them but I guess this thinking is beyond them.

With regard to messed up "ports" (PC, Switch or otherwise, I'm starting to believe that this is being done on purpose by the Developers in the hopes that someone REALLY loves the games, tries the PC or Switch port, has a bad experience due to the games bot being optimized and instead perhaps will run out to buy a Console (and the game again) so they can play it NOW without having to wait for slow updates to the ports.
In short, I think they do it on purpose as a "cash grab" of sorts so you will go and buy consoles, etc.
I mean let's be honest, even modest gaming pc's have specs that completely destroy even today's consoles so is there REALLY another reason that these ported games should be so bad, especially considering that todays consoles are actually almost lower / midrange gaming pc's themselves

Mods can be seen as damaging company profits whether that’s cosmetic sales, features or even game expansions. It could impact a game even been made in the first place if a developer plans for x amount of after sales. Plus your putting developer out of the job but making the mods for free. Maybe for a really old forgotten game this isn’t a problem.
For poor PC ports, what do you expect with a huge hardware variation it’s always been the PC blessing/curse. The switch ports come on, the graphics are limited by the console. You pay for the game play and content not the graphics, a little PC master race showing here.
Studio job loss sucks but it comes with the modern trend of online service games, people are playing fornite 5 years later instead of playing something new: / for example.

It’s really 2 things for me: game optimization and game fun. Many developers focus on making the game look triple A that they forget to make the gameplay experience enjoyable. Yeah I can see the detail on the guys nose but what are the things the character can do that would make my time playing the game worth it And secondly I’m not a graphics snob. I’ll play a game that looks like a potato if it’s fun. That being said, if it looks like a potato, my potato pc SHOULD RUN IT. Developers seem to want to force you to have to get the newest hardware just to run their half-baked game, I almost think it’s on purpose

Actually No. 1 should be 2 seprate points, 1) is the layoff which sucks ofcourse. But another point is that bigger studios buy Recognizable IPs which had a lot of potential then add those to the collection and don't do anything with them. I can think of Sleeping Dogs, how Activision bought the IP and didn't made the squeal which could've been a GTA Killer if you ask me.
Another one is LA Noire, which I don't blame Rockstar since it's Team Bondi's fault but damn will they ever make a squeal of such a unique game. Like as much as I want another RDR or GTA, Games like La noire are unqiue that should continue.

I don’t really get the complaint that there are a lot of bad UIs. The only ones I’ve run into that were actually a problem for me were fire emblem engage and destiny (both 1 and 2. It’s true that alot of UIs are basic, but that’s only a problem if you’re shifting through menus for like half the game a UI can give a game more personality, but as long as the game is fun I don’t really care if it’s basic as long as it works fine and I can actually see the things I need to, like what my current hp is or what the next objective is and a map so that I don’t get lost.

There is a SUPER easy solution to number 4.
Separate controller players from pc players and forbid controllers on pc. Done.
But they do not want that, they want to have ONE professional competitive scene, not 2.
Or the second option would be to only have competative for one, effectively killing off the other branch.
As usual, has to do with corporate greed because look at apex legends f ex, they could EASILY afford 2 leagues, one for controllers and one fore pc mouse and keyb, but nope.
Instead they let this stuff happen promoting cheaters to join.

I worked for Tuxedo Labs on Teardown, and it was an absolutely AWESOME experience - great game, great team, great work. After my contract expired, the studio was sold to Embracer Group (through Saber Interactive. and quality has apparently. been an issue since then. We got few complaints from users on our discord before the sale, but after the sale, hoo, boy. talk about an unhappy group of people. I've even seen some discussions amongst people, saying I'm lucky I'm no longer with the team since I don't have to deal with the current state of affairs.

1: 13 This is a feature, not a bug. The screenshot of 'Suicide Squad', resembles that of 'Vampire Survivors'. Why is this interesting Because it suggests that this on-screen chaos is deliberate.
See, 'Vampire Survivors' is noteworthy for being an addictive game. This number overload is a key aspect of its game design. Now, to its great credit, it does not have any micro-transactions, despite the dev hailing from a gambling company background. But, guess which game is Free-to-Play, & has micro-transactions Yup, 'Suicide Squad'!

Speaking to the massive layoffs, I think that this, and the history of publishers purchasing studios for the last 20 years combined with the success of indie games, we are going to see a rise of more indies. The need to have a publisher is a bit archaic in the current landscape. Yeah, it's tempting to have that surge of cash to help you develop your game, but your fate is not controlled by yourself. I imagine a lot of the devs that have gotten laid off, if they choose to come back to the game development, will choose to stay indie.

I agree with you to an extent on number six but I think the difference there is the amount of negative hatred that Starfield receives and unjustly so at that. Half of the crap that they spew is just untrue and they repeat it. It’s like an echo chamber, or robots, or something, repeating the same crap over and over on the Internet. it’s annoying AF as a fan of Starfield and I don’t blame Bethesda for trying to shut some of them up. I wish they’d go a little harder to be honest.

Bethesda "doesn't help modders" Are you high They're one of the better devs when it comes to mods and mod support. And taking to complaining about a company responding to reviews on steam Like dude. I love you and all that. But, really You're upset about something that you literally have to go and find on your own, with nobody else forcing your hand. Not an awesome list this time around. Not exactly the same content I've gotten used to from a gentlebird like yourself, Falcon.

I've lost many jobs over the course of my life and instead of saying "Woe is me, my life is ruined", I used it as an impetus to find that good job I wanted when I took the crappy one I just got let go from. And maybe devs, along with folks like Disney and Marvel, should consider making products that people actually want to play instead of buggy messes filled with political narrative instead of story and character development. Just my opinion, don't go spreading it around.

Oh man, the Bethesda Creations update has brought me closer to breaking a controller than I have felt since I was an angry teenager calling people slurs on Xbox Live!
It shuts off half your mods if you turn one off! Clicking "enable all" will disable most of them! It randomly shut off half my mods while I was playing! Half my fuxking saves are mysteriously corrupted!
I am this close to going back to piracy just so I can get the god damned unofficial patch working.

Steam, the trashcan of the Games industry. Skyrim and Fallout UIs suck the most on PC. 1080p, and the UIs use maybe 5% of the bloody screen, not because it is simple, but because they jam everything into only 5% of the screen space. Infuriating as hell. Not to mention CoD UIs, sensory overload is a thing, seems like they didn't get that memo.
And then MSI goes and makes a Screen with built in A. I. that can scan your entire screen and point out something to you.

The attack on physical media sucks. The game companies have their dollar bills sights set on overdrive, so while they’re having layoffs they are also recording record profits while trying to have even more control over what we play by forcing us into subscription services or forcing us to buy digital. I grew up with gaming, and this generation will probably be my last if I can’t collect games and be able to play them in the future without a subscription.
