I am a from software veteran. Just for reference, I found ds3 to be super easy. My favorite is Sekiro.
But this game is VERY HARD.
So far I've played 7 hours, and the following things are the most annoying and unlikely to go away soon:
1) inventory cramped with dish recipe ingredients because you need like 4 different ingredients for ONE dish, and so logically inventory fills up FAST and going back to the Rookery to put stuff in your chest is WAY TOO TEDIOUS before you can invest in the building repairs.
2) at least in Sacramental they could give you a more in depth combat tutorial. I still don't get which enemies i can backstab and which ones i cannot. Sneaking seems dumb right now since many enemies CAN'T be backstabbed (the bigger ones) (this topic is addressed in your video)
3) a fixed minimap in HUD would be nice. instead of having to open the map in the menu
4) enemies recover WAY too fast from a heavy combo slam axe in the ground and get stuck animation. As soon as you hit them with the first swing of your rusted sword, they instantly recover and swing their humongous axe at you with tremendous speed and accuracy. very annoying. I am often torn if combat is more sekiro or darksouls. looks like shield and spear will be OP. and that is a shame.
5) i miss my parries because the enemy misses his first swing. very annoying lol. Then you're stuck in the animation and their second stronger swing hits you in the sack.
6) it takes a lot of time to gain orientation in the map. It's a complicated map and I feel it could have been simpler. But i will get used to it.
Overall i am curious and like it a lot.
The finished products could very well become one of the best games of the year in which it releases.
I think it's a tie between getting it now at a discount but with lots of frustration.

One of the biggest problems I've seen with people who try to create their own soulslike is that they focus more on trying to make things difficult rather than try to make things fair
Darksouls games and bloodborne are difficult but the catch is that the build you make is meant to help compensate stats with skill
If you're a big tanking beast you can sit there and eat a hit or two then trade blows and if you're a light build you can get in and out while attacking and evading
After that the boss may have giant swings or continous attacks but you have a brain and infinite retries to help you identify the pattern and match your style to their rhythm
But thats where the problem occurs as many recent games have focused on trying to make you suffer needlessly
A game I played called soldiers had this issue where it gave you limited dodges that had a 1 second cooldown but bosses that would have continous attack patterns, it gave a block but gave the boss a form of repeating super attacks and the craziest thing was it gave a mage and archer attacks with limited range on their attacks meaning they had to get into near melee range to attack which defeats the point of the class system
All I'm getting at is that gamers like a challenge we like increased difficulty but the difficulty shouldn't come due to a restriction on your character that the boss is meant to exploit
It should come at the method by which the player aims to challenge the problem. Make the difficulty come as a true test of skill not as some boulder that needs to be pushed up a mountain only to be brought down again

unpopular opinion surely but im getting annoyed with all the soulslike games (not this one in particular but the style in general) as someone who doesn't enjoy the genre. what i don't get is why can't some of these games just have different difficulty options plenty of games (like dmc or gow for example)can be enjoyed pretty casually but also have absolutely brutal difficulties if you wish to have that souls like experience. back in the day i used to like doing that after playing on normal id almost always go and replay games on harder and even the hardest difficulties if i really liked the game and complete challenges but nowadays i just want to chill with a beautiful and interesting game but when theres no option for the difficulty its kinda sad. id absolutely love to play elden ring too if it had an easier difficulty but its just one of those games ill never play i guess. i just don't get it because it alienates a huge part of the community and makes it so the majority of people would never actually play such games an just makes the player pool so much smaller than it could be. and don't tell me bs like get good cuz its not about that. i could i just dont want to nor do i enjoy the playstyle of dying over and over again in order to achieve that. i jsut want to have an adventure, experience a new story and world. i don't need to prove how skilled i am.

It's unfortunate that people will complain about many mechanics that have built in answers to them, but they just haven't found them yet. You can repair for free without having to go back to town, you can heal yourself. For free, without having to eat food, you can build your characters in way where you'll nearly never run out of stamina if that is what you want. Those things simply need to be learned and earned. Journalist and game reviewers needing to rush reviews out to stay relevant will hurt this game a lot, and I get it, I didn't know these things at first too, but that's the beauty of this game, as you progress, you learn, you get better and you overcome, becoming the absolute coolest hero that can slaughter half a dozen enemy with a single attack.
For the free repair, the Eleanor, the Enchanter sells a skill called repair, all you need is 150 focus, meaning you need to put 3 points into Faith to use it, 3 points is 1 level, 1 level up and you an infinitely repair from anywhere at anytime.

look guys a tip repair items, wont cost a dime when you use a repair rune in one of your weapons, i safed tons of money that way by buying one from the vender and progress goes faster and i'm getting more power full.
One thing i do miss is the buyback option, made mistake by selling something i was wearing could not get it back.
Other one is the number of gems you can use, for some reason only one is able to get socketed, can't use the other 3m, or i'm missing something here.
Also removing/replacing runes and gems, there is only one option, and that destroys your item, you cannot destroy the rune/gem and safe the item
And a lot more that needs fixing, like dual blade and bow, while blade uses same mechanics as a bow you cannot use the bow at all, hope that gets fixed soon.
The game it self totally wicked! LOL

Repair mechanics are pretty lame. I say abolish them outright. It’s not bad if you have plenty of resources. I just finished Dying Light 2, and had a lot of side stuff left. So I crafted a few of the top tier weapons I found blueprints for (because I was pretty stringent with it in the main game) and after crafting and upgrading 2 weapons I was completely tapped on blades. So I can’t repair anything, make anything that requires blades, or upgrade certain weapon mods. Played for a few hrs thinking I’d pick some up naturally. Not one. Killed the game for me. I just want to clean up side quests and have fun. But they screwed it all up. So yeah only if resources are plentiful should there be a repair mechanic. And even then it’s just time consuming for the sake of being.

even if the game were perfect with only key-mapping missing, that'd still be a no from me - but performance, balance, UI. and even story not finished When did early access become synonym with unfinished 40 dollars sounds like the full price for the game, so. we're paying full price to play a demo, no, an unfinished, curtailed, buggy demo paying to be a QA-tester Please.
I wanted this game from the first previews I saw of it months ago, but this marketing model is beyond ridiculous. I'll check back in a year's time I guess. around the time Cities Skylines 2 should or could be finished as well. getting used to it, no rush. plenty of indie gems in my library cheaper than 20 bucks that are actually impeccable, finished games.

I don’t like Souls-Likes at all. But this games combat system is so engaging and it really makes you think about what your next move is gonna be. I love it!
I’m here for the flaws, the good and bad times. The first boss flung himself off a cliff the first time and I couldn’t grab his loot so I had to reload the game and try the boss fight again. But it was still a lot of fun.
I love the art direction and how much detail they put into hand crafting each area. This game is HUGE in terms of verticality. Lots of little treasures and things to explore.
I can’t wait till they release 4 player co-op with friends down the road!

I have played a bit on a friend's pc. great great game tough but still great
From the starter I have seen online I think they should introduce the main city from which the army comes in the full release. It should be like hig map atleast twice the size of current you. Then they could introduce something like a tower climb (like in many mangas) which has endless loots and replay ability.
And a armour\weapon creator or customization. The game has huge potential.
This the game that original wolcen could have been. Hope they keep going the road they are.
Best of luck to everyone who's involved in the game creation.

I really disliked this game, refunded after 15 minutes. Maybe after final release it will change but right now it's quite bad, really awful optimization, controls are all over the place, the NPC's are fast af while you are slow even in rags and just having a sword. The game feels more like an alpha right now then a regular early access.
I don't really have high hopes for this game and I'm not into the art style either, unique is not the equivalent of good. Anyway, I would advise waiting for a few more updates before buying it if you want to try it, right now is a complete mess.

I disagree with a lot of this, honestly. The difficulty isn't too bad once you learn the game. Dodge I-frames are very forgiving, and enemy patterns are petty easy to learn. Also, you said you can only repair at the blacksmith, which is just straight up wrong. You can get repair powder and even a repair rune. There still definitely are a lot of balancing and performance issues that need to be ironed out, but overall, this game is great so far! Also side note they just patched the game to make repair durability way less annoying and repair powder a more frequent drop!

No doubt, I was hyped for this one and it definitely came through. The foundation of the game is straight fire. Yeah, there are bugs, but that was expected, especially this early on. For half the price of a regular AAA game, I'm all in with this purchase. I got both Ori versions on my PC, Switch, and PS5, and I keep coming back to play. They really get what gaming's about. By the end of Ori, you’re running around like a boss. My character in No Rest is just at level 6 and the future looks promising. The potential for this game is pretty high.

I would like to let everyone know that the developers have been pumping out a remarkable amount of hotfixes, literally one a day at this point, and they have ironed out a lot of bugs. Durability has been a point they have been working on, essentially making tools and such have a lot more durability, and they have also been working on the stuttering and lagging problems as well. It's not perfectly fixed yet, but they are being proactive with making the game as good as can be and are actively listening to the community for the fixes.

I am sorry but i disagree 90% BUT if they dont mess up game to oblivion, i am fine with some fine tuning. In my opinion skills are better telegraphed than most of the similiar games, Parry is really forgiving, mobs stun but if you feel you get stunned alot, use mesh armor and poise and voila - no more stuns, durability is fine if you dont die but sure i am fine without dura aswell so what ever. I would like it to be harder but it is just me.
Good review tho, all players are not the same.

It feels like the dev pour the vast majority of their energy and resources into the art and visuals but didn't put as much effort into the game design and mechanics. Lots of games have issues in early access, but lots of games play well in early access despite bugs. There's a reason why this game is sitting at mixed reviews on steam right now while many other early access games have fair better with far less visual qualities. The devs here forget that gameplay is king.

You know the more you guys keep on buying these games before they are officially finished the more you’re taking jobs away from game testers because now you guys are literally paying to test the game and that is why we keep on getting shitty broken games that aren’t fixed properly before we receive them, this is the exact reason right here you’re literally playing it and then giving them feedback what’s wrong and what the fix yada yada yada

Side scrollers aren't my jam, but given how well regarded their previous games are I'm tentatively pretty excited for this. Eventually. I don't really like the gorilla proportions, which are mildly off putting to me for some reason. It just looks weird. Maybe is the combo of that with the isometric perspective I don't know. I'll be keeping and eye on for sure, as otherwise I love the art direction and a good isometric ARPG.

This is my dream ARPG. Souls-like combat, Diablo-esque RNG loot, constantly shifting prior environments Metroidvania style, player housing. There's just too much here to love. They already patched the game TWICE (ON A WEEKEND, NO LESS, addressing complaints about durability and performance. Moon Studios cares so much about this game and it shows. I'm thrilled to test the early access and give them feedback!

Game too difficult
Protip: If the game is too difficult you can create a new Realm and farm items in the first location (with your already made character. You can sell for money to buy stuff or craft more healing items.
Protip 2: If you have low health and are near a Cerim Whisper, touch it then remove your gear and die to fall damage and you will return with full health. Full heal without using food.

Feels really good to play with a controller, tight combats with punchy sound design, dynamic atmosphere, smooth animations, and very responsive controls with tactile feedback, the harmony this game creates is super addicting and hits the spot! The game is Good. only it needs more time, this kind of performance should be done with 2060 SUPER and Ryzen 3600, the game looks good but it's nothing exceptional.
