As good as souls games for some people, im really tired of every new action game just being another clone. I want devs to take risks in their combat systems again, something new or just something different.
Maybe taking a leaf out of devil may cry style combat. The god of war style combat is great and has elements of soulslikes but doesnt go fully in that direction and makes it theri own thing. Evil west then took notes from god of war and the combat there was pretty fun too. Sometimes its fun to be able to mow enemies down instead of stressing with every single enemy, especially for thise that dont have a lot of time to delve into these types of games all the time.
I keep seeing a new game that looks interesting then it shows gameplay and its just that 1v1 enemy fighting where youre stepping around, waiting and dodging, going in for a couple attack, rinse, repeat. Its not the most engaging combat when its being done in every other game.

So far id say im glad yhis is on game pass, for someone like me who isn't into hardcore soulslike games, souls lite are great for me. This didn't have to be world changing but its a game ass game.
The only issue i have, which may be a Xbox issue, is how damn dark it is, even changing all the settings in game and on tv, a lot darker than it looks in this video.
Id give it so far a 5-7/10 which is what we need more of at times

Whats this BS of having women as main characters I'm tired of it, you could give the option for girls but why try to force us to play as a women We all know in real life women's strength it's not even close to men's, it's not realistic, that's why I didn't play forbidden, stellar, or this one, give me the option of imagine it's me playing, if u force me to play as a girl u won't engage me in the game at all

Also they are soul-like, not very oringal at all.
sounds to me the story is non-extant, that's not worth a penny
thats why from software 's games are so good.
the story is so vague but entertaining
you are this undead like being in this very weird ass world.
games should be like a joke. GTA is a masterpiece because it made a complete world but everything is a joke

Uninstalled it as soon as it stuttered in one of the opening scenes. I'm fairly tolerant of that stuff normally with newer games as the 3080 is becoming dated but dropping to 20fps with DLSS is just unacceptable when the game looks muddy as shit to begin with. This is on the Gamepass version so I wouldn't be shocked if that was a contributing factor too.

I really like it so far. Feels like a refreshing take on the soulslike genre. I have no idea why people say it feels incoherent. All the parts of the game system fit together quit nicely and I can see the logic behind all of the design decisions. Pretty cool game, at least that's my early impression after 3 hours.

Fastest download, play, and delete I've ever had. Gamepass is not worth it now, either. Pay a premium for day one releases, you might as well spend a little more money on games you actually want.
Guttered as well, NZ developer, and I'm Kiwi, so I wanted it to be good. Why can't we just have a good fantasy RPG

gods are almost a symbol of colonialism and a black woman is out killing everything to 'beat the oppressors' is a no from me. If they spent less money on DEI and more on developing an interesting story I would definitely buy, even if just based on the exploration potential of this game. Oh well.

I play it in gamepass and I like it. I'm a totally Bad at souls like games and this game is not really hard as the others in the Genre.
What I don't like is some graphical errors, like mirrors not working, shadows dont really stay at your character sometimes.
But I still like it

Wow. After all the contribution SBI made to telling better stories and creating more interesting characters, and with what an outstanding writer Kim Belair is, the game is generic and forgettable from story and main character standpoint. Who would've thought

It feels strange when you strike basic ennemy in the face and theres no feedback. They don't flinch, theres basically no impact, you just see their health decrease. It's. Not that well made.
It almost look like they ahave permanent hyper armor

I really love any thing souls, although playing through this I agree, souls and God of war ish. Only souls like I really didn't bother with after a few hours was dolmin, other wise bring the souls likes on I love them. Don't like em don't play em

I was considering buying this. This video gave me a little pause, but also confirmed - for me - that it looks pretty fun. Are there another games also releasing soon that I will play first Sure. But I might load this onto the Steamdeck for casual play.

I’m a couple hours in now and it’s not a bad game. I would not pay full price for it and probably wouldn’t have played it at all if it wasn’t on gamepass. When you find it on sale for $30 or less ins. Couple months, go for it.

that's what you get when you have DEI, blunt games with no character development, cause it has to be inclusive. Also the physics seems very dull, a round bullet piercing through a steel helmet yeah, its a hard pass
reply

No idea why people are bashing this simply because who was involved even if it didn't affect the game in any way. We've Hyped up lesser soulslikes in the past and this, while it has problems, looks fun for $35.

Looks very similar to forspoken - big empty world with some good bits dotted about. I'll play it, might be the last game pass game I play before cancelling that subscription, overpriced twaddle now.

Are ye guys going to do a before you buy for nobody wants to die. I know ye can't cover every game. it just looks interesting from the footage. I'd like to hear someone's review who I trust for reviews

I keep waiting to see your review of Still Wakes the Deep. The fact it hasn't come out yet after Jake said he was looking forward to it makes me think his copy is as broken and unplayable as mine is.

After Lords of the Fallen and Shadow of the Erdtree, I think I've had my fill of these types of games. The only thing I'm interested in playing in the near future is the Silent Hill 2 remake.
