I remember the 90's gaming era and it was crazy. Sega never had a chance. With the original PS out in 1995 and fun launch games like Ridge Racer and NBA Jam. That plus PC gaming held U. S. gamers over until the N64 came out in late 1996 with Super Mario 64 and then pretty much occupied everyone's time for another couple years lol.
The early 2000's got a little better with Microsoft entering the console market. For MOST gamers at the time it now came down to PlayStation versus Xbox. Yea, PC was still kickin' but these consoles were new and exciting and not a lot of people were in to PC modding at this time.
The Xbox came out and Halo changed everything for a lot of gamers. The Need for Speed games changed everything for people who love racing games.
By the time the PS3 and Xbox 360 were out and still competing with each other, the marketing and stuff got a little better.
Now today. we're doing full CGI marketing for video game ads, creating cool ads that show off crazy in-game footage combined with CGI scenes.

-6: 42 Four boobs
-You should not pull pranks with a gun even if it is fake. Someone actually got killed for pulling a prank like that. They ended up getting shot when they pretended to rob some place. 18: 02 Someone could have been shot. Exactly.
-I think my sister played Persona 3 at a younger age than she is supposed to. That game isn't that violent.
-Well having the name Dovakiin isn't too bad. It's definitely unique.
23: 09 Everyone's gonna buy it I wouldn't.

I remember when the Saturn came out and how I wanted one. I also remember how it never materialized anywhere around me except on store shelves. The only times I ever even used one were the occasional store demo ones. Nobody I knew had one. Barely anyone talked about them. Still nobody I know ever mentions them, even amongst people who have been gaming since the 80s. It is as if it exists as little more than a phantom in my memory.

Offering anything free to a people, especially free petrol to we Brits, this cannot have been dreamt up by a Brit else they'd have known it was a bad idea immediately! I give you the opening of the IKEA store in Edmonton as an example of how we Brits behave sometimes, we're not very polite and reserved at all when there's a chance of free shit!

5: 48 I was listening to this in the shower, and you went to number 17, and I'm sitting there like what the hell is wrong with him Why the f is he complaining about a white PSP I have a white Vita. I get out of the shower and I go back to number 17. Oh boy. White girl grabbing a black woman like that, what the f were they thinking

For number 2, driving the vehicles onto roofs honestly sounds like a lot of fun. When physics cease to exist in a game, I would just go crazy with seeing what can be done. I wouldn't even be mad because there's a lot of humor to be had. Of course, yes, the game should eventually be patched but I'd enjoy the jank while it was there

I am surprised the Mass Effect 3 marketing where they launched a few copies onto those balloons that would take it to the edge of space then parachute back down with GPS locators so you could play it early and have a copy that went into space. I think only a few of the copies they did this were properly retrieved.

Watchdogs bomb threat was funny to me, I worked in a nearby building and we would always get couriers doing drop and runs without notice. Call up their offices tell them not too. We are a secure building, if we don't know what it is, the bomb squad will blow it up
After that day, no more issues.

I remember my pops getting my cousin and I each a Sega Saturn and a PS1. I actually liked the Sega Saturn a lot more with Virtual Cop, Clockwork Knights, and Gex being my favorites. Then those Sony games started rolling in though and the Saturn quickly became a paperweight

20 is a perfect example of worst and best with sony's 1 phrase. unplanned marketing scheme that worked. You know that dude was about to hop up there and blurt spec but he knew the 1 thing gamers in 1995 where concerned with. I got mine in 96 for Christmas I was 15.

How can you forget the mannequin dressed up like a soldier with a gun pointing down at the street below where people could see it Some even called 911 on it. (I think it was even in New York or maybe Chicago, I can't remember though. It was to promote COD Ghost.

I'm looking for an old PC game. Mid 2000s you play as a young wizard. Graphics were N64 style. i think top down view
I remember you could get like three different wizard hats and three different wands
Kind of doofy looking protagonist. If it rings any bells

These marketing fails are just wild! It's crazy how companies think outside the box, but sometimes they just end up in the trash bin instead. Honestly, some of these ideas could've been memes! I'm here for the nostalgia and the cringe-worthy moments!

Funny how Sony’s competitors historically keep shooting themselves in the dick and giving Playstion an easy layup. Twice they’ve been in a position where they literally just announced the price of their new console and got thunderous applause.

I swear that people who make advertisements and campaigns must be some of the sickest people in this world. They come up with stuff no one else would ever dream of. Nothing is sacred to them.
That aside, it is another entertaining list.

I loved the sega saturn, some really amazing games. My uncle was the head of the testing dept for the us, and hearing about how much they messed up on the advertising side is still like watching someone relive the worst parts of their past: /

The Halo 5 marketing was so good and when I so disappointed when I beat the game and realized it had nothing to do with the game. Halo 5 was the game that dug the franchises grave and infinite is the one that finished the job

I remember my first time playing Battleborn and I had no clue what was going on, then in the lobby after the match this dork kept telling people to report me. Because I wasn't good enough. I'm glad that game is dead

call me crazy but I actually miss corporations having the balls to do crazy shit like this and having fun with marketing rather than a bunch of corpo suits following trends and pretending to please everyone
