You said something I need to follow up with you on Falcon!
My VERY small team and I have been in very early strategy talks about developing an offline console to play physical media aimed at those one player experiences you were talking about.
The situation here is one of many data points that has us basically ready to abandon the entire idea.
Raising the capital won’t be a problem because of other irons we have in the fire that are completely not game related.
But, we don’t want to throw money in the trash.
I’d love to hear how engagement with your podcast is going and goes over the next 2yrs. And what the sentiment around physical media is.

I don't care what happens since we seen this before, i got a lifetime of games i still haven't played. Also any new batman games they make would be shit anyways. Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights proves that the era of good batman games is long gone.
Live service slop is the future in the minds of a company like WB/Netflix, especially if a company like Netflix is the ones in charge. u think WB Games was going too strong in that live service direction, just watch until Netflix tries it. every game they have will be some type of monthly payment live service thing. They don't sell you something once they want your money on a monthly basis.

This is basically a lose-lose. If Netflix gets it, they essentially become a monopoly and that is terrible for consumers since that cost is probably going to reflect on prices. If Paramount gets it, if you knew who was pushing that deal then you would know why this part is bad, they will get CNN and most of the US news media will be dominated by right wing talking points. I hate getting political, but politics are going to play a huge part in this whether people like it or not and as a centrist who believes in listening to both sides to draw an opinion, I don't like the idea of one side of the isle getting their platform snubbed.

Mk vs DC would be a perfect send off for WB games. Story mode starring Batman or Damien and maybe a female character from mk, let’s say Sonya or some other girl like Jade (it doesn’t really matter) they should try to plead with the last remaining whoever is in charge of what’s left to set up one last tournament which can somehow restore all realms. It would slap even harder if all the more powerful people (Raiden and the like) are dead and can only be unlocked much later into the game. Classic Mk mechanics (no tags) grounded roster (15mk, 15dc) limited modes at launch (story, arcade, team, test, ladder)

I know we all care a lot about games, but the fate of WB will have a much bigger impact on film and television. A game changer for those industries and consumers, and almost certainly not a good one. As far as games go, there are at least some possible avenues for a Netflix merger not to suck. Instead of trying to mismanage in house development, they could just offer their biggest licenses (i. e. Batman) to competent third party developers to make actually good games. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Doesnt matter how much money they spend on beating a dead horse. instead of copy-pasting and trying to reinvent the wheel what's needed is FUN and interesting games that don't get tossed in the pile or cashgrabs / microtransactions now that everyone with a functioning brain is on alert.
If big devs like bethesda for example wants their players back they better show us tes6 or remakes / new games that we are asking for instead of slop and more horse armors

I find it really odd that a company like Sony isn’t pushing all they’ve got to acquire Warner. Looking at it objectively, Sony has experience with film and television and is a juggernaut in its own right in the gaming industry. It’s hard to believe that they wouldn’t look at this acquisition as a cash cow considering they could use the IP in every division without having to break new ground anywhere.

Consternating the live service al slop WB has last released I can see why netflix wound see it that way
Having say that I don't see them (Netflix) doing any better
WB doesn't seem to know what they have/had, as for Paramount, EA has killed enough IP's
Maybe the best move is to sell the IP to someone (AA companies) that give a shirt about making good games and not how much $$$$ then can make

the nemesis system alone has gotta be worth tens of millions a least. i dont like it being an owned property, for all the same reasons that trademarking isn't the traditional way for game mechanics, but if it can earn them money and they didn't calculate it as costing them any, maybe some of the corporate caution drops away. that caution isnt something that netflix is really known for either.

The nemesis system is nothing without the creatives that breathed life to it, who left Monolith years ago after WB forced them to abandon the next game they had started making, the one they WANTED to make, and forced them work on Wonder Woman instead, which they eventually also killed. WB destroyed the most interesting company in gaming, strangled their own golden goose with their bare hands.

i’ve noticed most ppl are just running with random talking points without looking into the actual business transactions. this was a waste of a video. Netflix wants to buy wb (mainline film and tv) wb discovery includes games and more ip’s. long story short netflix is going to be acquiring a separate public company that houses the gaming division and more. however they want to sell it off.

We are ever-so-gradually, increasingly living in a nightmare and no one is coming to save us. This kind of thing doesn't happen in a vacuum it's the kind of thing that is set up through politics while everyone sleeps and doesn't pay attention. Former FTC Chair Lina Khan's absence will continue to be felt as these companies continue to monopolize and make the consumer suffer.

imagine if they decided that you needed to have w netflix subscription in order to access the games.
I mean they did that with Rockstar's IP(rdr and gta) on mobile and you literally need a netflix subscription in order to play it. But i guess on mobile they can get away with it because this space is literally a cashgrab first as people would glady pay before anything else

I see Netflix doing 1 of 2 thing:
1. They shut down WB Games and just let the highest bidders sign the biggest contracts for their video game IPs (most likely)
2. They partner their gaming division with a bigtime publisher (Tencent, TT, etc) and let them them have full nearly full autonomy and co-collect the earnings with said company.

I tell you sth. If the entertainment industry goes for these monopolies and tries to squeeze the customers too hard, I go back to reading books only. Honestly, the good thing is, nothing they provide is thaaat necessary. But it is still a lpng way to go for them to push me onto that path

Just one more step toward end-stage capitalist corporate domination with yet another massive, unprecedented conglomerate acquisition. We're like 3 degrees away from dreaded big three of monopolies becoming real: the multimedia monopoly, the pharmaceutical monopoly and the tech monopoly

FYI the Appendix is a part of the lymphatic system and provides a portion of your immune support system, it also houses a complete backup of your gut flora in the event of damage or loss to the system. you can live without it, but its better to have one.

These corpos want that sweet gaming money, but also look down on gaming and gamers so insanely hard that it's wild. Netflix has been failing to break into gaming for years and now that they have a potential layup they decided to throw the ball into the crowd.

See the crazy thing that baffles me with how Netflix might treat them, is that gaming earns significantly more revenue than movies actually does now. So you would think that they would treat it a little bit better I general.
