Played KCD since early but ended up racking up loads of hours during lockdown, RDR2 is the 'best' game I ever played but KCD is my favourite of all time. I had really high expectations for KCD2 and was very aware that it may not deliver at all on those, I was 100% prepared to just play it for the story at least but it delivered on every level. Missing features from the first game were added, dangerous wildlife, crossbows, carts, proper polearms etc. The story literally picked up where it left off, end of KCD Hans and Henry crest the hill and ride off into the sunset, start of KCD2 Hans and Henry are the other side of that hill. The explanation and reason for reset was fun and satisfying to rebuild, the music, the cutscenes, the interactions with NPC's, the different areas and regions to explore. Made stealth a little easier but made the enemies a little harder, made bows and combat a lot easier and more accessible to the crybabies but didn't make it unrewarding or unfun to actually learn and improve still. Everything they did, they either kept good because it was already or improved/balanced a little better. It was easy to pick straight back up where I left off and only learn the new stuff but also not impossible for newcomers and rewarding for both old and new players. On every level, delivered an A grade with flying colours.

I agree that most souls type game are very pretty, but I just never get that feeling of being very badass. No matter how leveled up your character gets you still feel like you are just chipping away at the bosses. Your attacks don't carry the weight of a character like the Doomslayer or Kratos for example. I prefer games that let me get outside of myself and actually feel powerful. Other's experience will likely vary, but that is opinion. I watch players that are obviously really good playing Elden Ring, and they seem to spend half the fight getting up from the ground. They do far better than me. I know people will say get good noob, but I have limited time to play games. I lose interest when I try to escape having life kick my ass by having a game do it too. I guess that's why I have 2000 hours in RDR2.

As someone thats put alot of time into KCD2 and ghost of tsushima both, personally I gotta say KCD2 def impressed me alot more. (and honestly should have top spot in this vid. Ghost is a great game, def recommend it, but combat def isnt the best. Target lock is very janky, too often do u get forced camera angles in the standoff mechanic that fully conceal enemies behind the player model (making it so you have to guess the timing sometimes. Majority of combat outside of standoff is just dodge then attack. KCD2 was also just more immersive and allowed interaction w/ the world in a larger range of ways, has a much more compelling/driving story, and by far has much more memorable characters out of the two. I have over 300 hours in KCD2, needless to say its worth every cent.

One that also could have been included is Hogwarts Legacy. While not perfect and some potential was left on the table, for everyone the Harry Potter series has some value this was an incredible attempt at recreating the universe and atmosphere from the wizarding world, with so many small details and so much stuff and suprises that were introduced. I took a week off work for that game and me and my partner played non stop for a week and I remember being wowed so many times: getting the first flying lessons, being introduced to the room of requirement, the expansion of it, the first time flying a hippogriff. and so many more. Unfortunately there's not much else to do to keep playing after finishing the main story, but the journey was incredible.

I wish people would stop using capture from Half-life Alyx really far into the game! I have the game, but never managed to fully complete it, I always get stuck somewhere halfway (or rather I get distracted by something else or life is too busy and I'm too tired for vr. It feels pretty spoilery. Jumped forward like 40 seconds before I stopped setting things I didn't know about.
I know it's a pretty old game by now, but especially for vr and it being THE primary game to experience in vr, there are still going to be a lot of people that have not experienced the game yet but might at some point if they finally get a vr headset. Especially with the Valve Frame coming soon there might be a new influx of players.

13: 15 I really wish they'd bring back Expansion naming back. It is frustrating these days when full expansions are treated and grouped with any other minor DLC from horse armor to cheat items.
Proper Expansions should be allowed to stand out properly for easier identification and price justification!
For example BG Tales of the Sword Coast expansion, BG2 Throne of Bhaal expansion, SC Brood wars and Diablo II Lord of Destruction were almost as big by content as the original games themselves!
And more recently DLCs like this Shadow of the Erdtree should def. be classified as an Expansion and not just DLC. DLC only describes the medium of acquisition, not the content it self.

You should do a video on creative solutions devs use to make games. For example the guy who created crash bandicoot using a technique to bypass some ps1 requirements so they could have more polygons to use in game.
Another example is prince of Persia creator using rotoscoping of his brother jumping, kicking and more in order to make the game very fluid motion for giving hardware.
There are tons of these stories across MS dos, early home consoles and even to more modern’ examples like getting half-life 2 to run on original Xbox.
I’m sure a top 10 would work quite well

KCD2 i think underpreformed gamewise, it was just so so so so easy. ewnemies dont get harder and harder, but stay as they are. while you get stronger and stronger, making fights not really feel so fun after some hours.
if you are just in it for the story, then yeah great game. but otherwise the first one was better bc it was more challangeing.
they failed hard on how it felt getting new and better equipment, i did a quest early one to find hidde narmor, and that armor i had the whole game, which really really took away from getting any feeligns of getting good loot.

Since you guys made such a positive video, I gotta be the yin.
As a Dark Souls fan, when Elden Ring got announced I was beyond hyped, and when the game finally arrived, I got pretty disappointed, it felt like DS got diluted in water, to the point I never finished the game.
Since I of course never finished the game, I didn't played the DLC so I can't say anything about it, but one day I'll try to complete the game, but for now, I just can't understand everyone else's love for it.

Elden Ring didn't deliver for me personally - hyped up to be this big open-world we can go anywhere at any level, only to be softlocked via bloated health bars/damage on enemies or elevator/keys only obtained after killing certain bosses.
From's good at making linear level games and it shows. I remember most of my playthrough was riding Torrent across plains of nothingness just to get to the next legacy dungeon so I can get gameplay again.

I think GTA 6 might not live up to the hype, if it actually gets released.
4: 50 ROOOOOAR! Let me take out my map as you attack me.
I think Dread only took so long because of technical limitations. It's better than Metroid Prime 4.
I actually thought Silksong was never coming out.
Ghost of Tsushima should have been game of the year.
I still haven't finished Persona 5 Royal.

LOZ: TOTK wasnt as great as BOTW but it just refined the same and took out some tedium but kept bad menus in late game play
it wore off very quickly but i would of preferred a more desperate and dire timeline instead of doing everything else besides the main quest
they needed to weave in the main plot a bit better but at least gave continuity to all the zelda games

reply

The thing I'll say about Dread is that they managed to add brand new power ups that were so good they felt like they all should be added to the pantheon of Metroid powerups.
The complaints about stealth I never got. You can literally run and be chased by the EMMI rather than stealth past. In fact I generally found it better to be chased than to do stealth.

Now do games from small studios that wer better then they had any right to be. Like AI limit, when it very first came out it wasn't the best but now its a great souls like and reminds me alot of ds1 the interconnected levels are unparalleled. I mean its insane the way areas lead back into each other. Some of the boss fights are awesome. Ursala is insane.

I played KCD1 in 2022, I didn't really enjoy it. Heck, I didn't even finish it.
Then KCD2 came out, I didn't have high expectation in the sequel but I was bored so I bought it anyway. I played it for an hour or two. Boy, that game completely changed my view on the first game so I went back to KCD1 and finished it before finally moving on to KCD2.

I might be in the minority but I that PHANTOM LIBERTY. Was absolutely dog shit.
The main villain they showed in the trailers never really did anything and you barely see him and dog town is a pile of shit that you can’t do anything in and it’s not even nice to look at
The only positive I can say about that DLC is Mr hands and his side quests

reply

The great thing about Persona 5 Royal is that old ending had you part ways with a group that relies on you as their center of gravity, but with the new ending, you get the extra time to fortify their independence and become your equals.
As a bonus, you can still approximate the original story line by avoiding the new characters.

reply

This is ridiculous, if a game lived up to the hype then it was not overhyped, it was hyped appropriately. If something is overhyped that, by definition, means the item (game in this case) did NOT live up to the hype thus the OVER in the word.
Do better gameranx, don't be watchmojo over here making 0 sense with your videos

reply

So i's not overhyped games that delivered it's games you like even if they sold badly because you get paid to like this games. and the fact that you have DLC shows it. no one liked donky kong. no one talks about it. it's just one of 3 games for switch 2. Alen wake 2 was so bad and had so much negativity behind it.

ARC Raiders system of pairing people with the same goal is such an amazing feature. Specially since most people at low levels will be needing to get their upgrade materials and blueprints so they can stand any chance agains older players. 1 out of 30 matches I've met a jerk that shot me after a co-op interaction.
