you're late but i'm happy you made a video about it.
Talking about the: Fositan FL 1x2' ($169)
About 1. 5 years ago i was looking at flexible LED solutions. And this BAD BOY came to life.
I have been using these lights EXTENSIVELY on 100s of shoots.
Let me tell you. They are worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY.
There will be 2 adjustement to do:
1) Buy a new power cable. The one that comes with it are good for 2 months and start to die. I have 5 of these lights (4 2feets and 1 1foot) and each one of the power cable became faulty. It will cost about 12$ for each power cable.
2) Buy a 100$ power generator battery. I bought mine a year ago and i get 4h power with 2 lights 2feet plugged on it, and 8h with only one. This is the best. The generator being as small as a Vmount battery, It's like having portable LED lights now. I gafftaped my lights to the ceiling of a car (inside) and put the generator on the other side. Perfect.
3) Trash the bag. You will loose parts, it's terrible. I ended up just putting a rubber band around the lights. and keep the remote in my light bad with outlets / extention cords etc.
Little tip: You can use them as color lights if you buy gels large enough.
You can fit 4 of the 2feet in a simple eastpack backpack.
If you travel with a carry on, i put 2 of these in it.
In conclusion; DO NOT HESITATE to buy these lights. I have been using them for years, with both my a7s2 and my Red Dragon. Trust me, these are money maker!

The hidden from view behind the scenes in these videos is the maker of the panel is known, but the maker of the LED's is not known. The maker of the LED's is responsible for the CRI and color temperature of the final product. Intensity and heat management varies by manufacture of the panel. The brighter panels may have higher brightness LED's or are simply driven harder for shorter service life. Any old fossels on here who remember the number BBA photoflood bulb. Service life 3 hours.
A true test of the LED panels is to measure the color spectrum. By charting the Color Rendition Metrics the chart of intensity vs wavelength is graphed and compared to other light sources such as short arc discharge, metal halide, mercury vapor, tungsten, sunlight, or halogen. When ordering office lighting panels, the manufacture will often provide CRI and spectral charts for the more upper end panels used in retail and grocery spaces to make the produce stand out. If you need the roll up panel you can pay the premium. If you have a studio, studio and stage lighting are often produced to very high standards. Panels built for energy management often have excellent CRI and full DMX dimming.

Neewer's 1x2' daylight balanced flex mat panel is only $110, has a CRI 97+, and I'm pretty sure is as bright as the Westcott (3800lux at 1m, from 512 LEDs. It's not quite as flexible as the Westcott (as far as I can tell from your video at least, and isn't as portable, but at that price, it's a no-brainer for most consumers.
And Westcott isn't even a high end lighting brand. Imagine what Broncolor or Profoto would charge for a similar panel?
I'm not sure how many of these mainstream/pro lighting brands are going to survive the Chinese disruption, and I'm honestly not very sympathetic. Yeah, Neewer and Ulanzi et al. may be knocking off their products, but when Westcott's asking $300 for an AC adaptor + V mount, they're digging their own grave.
As an aside, does D-Fuse make a 1x2' universal softbox that will work with these panels? Although the included diffusion fabrics are functional, the 6+ extra space you'd get from an actual softbox would be a huge improvement.

This was exactly what I was looking for. I'm diving into video (scary when you're used to photo and studio strobes) and my cheap tiny little panel lights aren't strong enough for most jobs, but I'm not ready to drop that much on wescott yet when I'm still learning. The Falcon Eyes sounds like the perfect in between learning step. THANK YOU!

I own a softbox and a Westcott umbrella, good products. However the flex light price is quite simply daylight (pardon the pun) robbery. The price is disgusting and the mark up they'll be making on each unit is extortionate.

Just in the nick of time! I'm planning to pick up a Godox FL60 for $200 and that is Bi colour too. Any reason you'd recommend an LED panel over this if flexibility isn't a deal breaker? I don't prefer CoB lights

You are also Paying for the color feature, so Its not exactly a comparison that should be drawn. Unless all the lights at that price do that? I dont know could never afford that tier

Goes to show how much profit these companies are making. I sure westcot got there right from the same manufacturer, just hired a better software guy to make things better controllable

The mainstream light makers are so primitive. Huge adapters, boxes to lug around, way over prices. The end is coming for these guys if they don't get their act together.

Such timeless test! Next smart thing to do: buy some cut Westcott baggies, cut them and velcro the Wescott name on the back of ur Fositans. Make ur crew happy again.

What about using 2 or 3 cheap ones at the same time? You could get the same amount of light and probably better dispersion, still for less money.

You shouldn't look directly into the leds. Trust me, my eyes are different from low wattage horticulture led grow lights.

I bought 2 awesome lights for $30 that I use for outdoors. Westcott is another overpriced company for the Studios.

So the link in the descr for FOSITAN FL-1x2 is wrong. You might want to fix that since it was the main story of the video.

Is there an LED that is ALL 3200k?
I don't like 5600k, and when you get Bi-Color light- you lose potential power

Do you guys find these flexible panels soft enough to use for YT talking head stuff without additional diffusion?
