If anyone wants to know how to get around ps3 and ps4 capture rules, you can actually get HDMI splitters that decode and resend the signal, so you can use this or any HDMI device (capcard) i am using a VHD-1xd1mn3d by View HD (get it on amazon) to strip this encoding to get 1080p and higher capture on older or locked tech!
hope thats helpful
Also if your here and looking for a product that can play your games through the computer, i stream through a Razer ripsawn and all my consoles are in a different room, so i can have better audio, the ripsaw uses usb type B (3. 0 Samsung varient) to Usb 3. 0 (480mbs of data transfer) and has like little latency and can be used to play in other rooms very well through a pc. (poor explaination sorry)

Worst avermedia for me - stream restarts every time i change window and if windows is in difrent resolution than previous stream will reset, aven more avermedia can shut down stream without your help you do stream avermedia shutdown stream without reason, if avermedia crash if you want to close the recentral sustem restarts, 2k bitrate is too low and you will get may pixels. many people will have have lags when you are streaming with avermedia, sound resenc more ery time you go out to desktop eh. this sucks i must use it for streams when my OBS cant capture old games but it sicks me.

well, I hope it doesn't have crazy audio out-of-sync issues like the live gamer hd in 1080p. it took them about half a year to come up with software and drivers that enabled me to record from the 360 and ps3 with audio that stays in sync. and if you intend to edit that video, i need to take an extra step and convert it to an intermediate file in virtualdub which manages to fix whatever crap their software dumps into the mp4 or ts container. their forums are full of people with similar problems.

I just got mine and I'm having a problem in PC free mode. When I start recording, it records for about 5 seconds and then it loses connection with the TV for about 5 seconds. Then when it comes back on it has stopped recording without me telling it to by pressing the button again. I presume that that one button starts and stops the recording. When I take the SD card out, my laptop reads it fine but it's only recorded 5 seconds of footage. Anyone having the same problem and know how to fix it?

I'm confused.
1. If I connect this to a 360, power it through the 360 and use the hdmi connection and record on the SD card there is no lag. If I do the same but have it record on the PC hdd, then there is lag while I am playing, or the lag exists only on the preview window?
2. The non component connection for the PS3, is it some way to use HDMI on the PS3 and still record or is it still component just that. I don't know, I am confused.
3. on a PC, is there lag while playing?

LGR actually mentioned that the software he uses to capture Windows with is slow as heck; he said -It's coming through just fine on the pass-through, it's just that the software I use to capture Windows with is really slow-. So perhaps that might have been why the capture quality doesn't impress you. AND then there's YT's compression, which adds quite some lag to the equation- Do not try and judge video quality based on YT at ANY time; you'll regret it badly!

Hah I thinnnk I see Sims 2 Open For Business on your desktop. hopefully that means a fabulous LGR Let's Plays for it will be coming in the near future? :P
Really love your reviews as always: ) Not only have I watched like all of your videos, I also re-watched them a bunch of times to the point that I think I have a slightly unhealthy fan girl obsession with you and your ever-so addictive personality lol, but anyways, looking forward to more of your vids! xD

Well the USB 2. 0 can transfer HD video at 1080p. its just a marketing ploy to get people to buy in to new hardware. Personally I use the Avermedia Game Capture HD. Quite happy after firmware updates that i can get 1080p/i recording at 30fps and 720p and lower at 60fps all through component. Then i pass-through a Roxio game capture for streaming. Im thinking about upgrading at some point to a HDMI passthrough for streaming though

Hey Clint, I've been using Dazzle DVC100 for the longest time for my console recording/streaming, and FRAPS has somehow the uncanny knack to corrupt a lot of my PC recordings while eating CPU up like Pacman. I'm wondering, do you need a powerful rig to make this device work well, or can it work just fine at lesser settings without sacrificing much or making things look fuzzy as hell?

Unless connected to a Wii U. The scale requires a little more power and the Wii U usb ports cant provide it. causes the encoder to crash on the device. Fix is to plug the USB port into one of those phone chargers and then into the wall. instant fix. Soon the device will be able to capture 1080p to SD: )
The Wii U Power draw may still be an issue though.
