I mean. pubg is great. if it works.
Great video! This year I found myself wishing Nier and Persona had gotten even more love, those were probably my top two favorite/most captivating games this year with persona making it onto my top five games of all time, convincing me to buy a PS4 AND getting me to pick up a psvita so I could play the previous games. There were so many games though it almost makes it hard to remember them all! I didn-t even have time to finish everything I picked up this year. in no particular order some other ones I loved where night in the woods, hellblade, divinity original sin 2 (though I still haven-t had time to finish it, hollow knight (nearly forgot that one since I picked it up this month, prey, and ac origins (surprisingly. I enjoyed a lot of others too including stuff like nioh, raw data for the psvr (though that might have come out last year on Vive not sure so maybe it doesn-t count, horizon, Skyrim vr, and even elex (god help me for enjoying that flaming pile of eurojank but I did.
but honestly, I don-t get why Nintendo is getting so many goty-s. Admittedly I-m just not really a fan of a lot of their franchises and I get that this isn-t a popular opinion but I felt that breath of the wild wasn-t good overall. (though I love majoras mask and wind waker so take that as you will). I HATED the durability elements and found it dull and while Mario Odessey WAS good I just don-t feel excited about Mario games an more after so many years. (and I preferred galaxy but that-s just me and I totally get why people disagree with that.

I watched some anime when I was younger, and wasn't into japanese games AT ALL. But two games truly made my heart feel warmer.
One is Persona 5, because it really is an awesome game. I like the turn-based combat, because the game is relaxing and is not supposed to be stressful when you are fighting, the aesthetics are wonderful, the graphics are well made, and the soundtrack, damn. Especially the -Beneath the Mask- track, that one deserves a grammy.
And the other one is Danganronpa 53. I mean V3. When I was young, I also watched Detective Conan, never followed on that with some other detective series/books though. Until DR took me by surprise and reminded me of this genre. Similar to Persona 5 in the graphics department, it also had a good soundtrack, and made me watch the 2 DanganRonpa anime series. Truly an awesome experience.
And I cannot agree more with the presented list. Clint truly has a great taste in games.

Oh dear, they actually had all weapon names in Wolfenstein 2 in German? That's awesome and must be so awkward at first xD (reminds me of my first experiences with English-language-only games back on PS2 - Persona 3 and 4, actually)
Also, I really have to put Prey on my 'need to buy' list, right next to Nier Automata. Assassin's Creed Origins I'll skip for now - after the disastrous stability issues I had with Syndicate (crashed to dashboard at least once an hour on PS4, I'll probably avoid Ubisoft this console generation. I'd rather do a few more playthroughs of Horizon anyway - I loved the gameplay and world of that one.

It's so nice to see a year's end list of personally relevant games regardless of games flaws or whether they were popular or not; and it is especially nice to see a list without all the cliches of -game of the year-, -top 10-, or pretending to be the Oscar's version of videogames.
When I was younger I loved game of the year lists but now it just sickens me to every year listen to the same crap about last years farcry, call of battlefield, blizzards game with nerd-fetish characters, Sony's or Ubisoft's action-rpg game with cover-system gunfights in chest-high wall arenas, and the obligatory indie darling just to add some -artsy- edge.

No the reason we don't have desire to play is the lack of diversity in games. When I was ages 3-19 I had desire to play video games because usually the ones I played were the classics so everything was new. But as we've gotten older we've seen most designs of gameplay. We are bored. Gameplay mechanics repeat often in games and our brains get bored of the repetitiveness causing us to lose interest. Games just don't feel the same like they did when we were younger. The charm won't ever be the same. And until Virtual reality or something big and different comes to the table. I fear this trend will expand.

Lists like this are why I like the stuff you do, it's not a run of the mill top 10 list with the usual stuff, but even things like Divinity and Yakuza 0. And that's cool! I really enjoyed this list.
Cool to see you get into the Persona series too, it's not one I would have thought you'd play, but It's awesome that you are. It's one of my favourite JRPG franchises. Strongly recommend trying the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax if you're into fighting games, it's got an incredibly lengthy and canon story involving the P3/P4 cast.

In my old age (55) and gaming since 1979. I have grown tired of many genres including first person shooters and ARPG's (which use to be my favorite genre. Don't find them fun anymore no matter how good of a game they are for those who do like those genres. Only games I know I'll like are third person open world games. All other games I wait until they are on a very steep sale so if I don't like them (which is usually) I don't waste much money on them.

Clint, and I'm only saying this because I like you and your videos, but saying Breath of the Wild is the best is. I'm not coming down on your opinion, but you should really experience other Zelda games.
My all-time, absolute, number one pick of the Zelda games, and right up there with my five favorite games of all time, is Twilight Princess.
I recommend you play the Gamecube version, the controls make it much more fun to play.

I didn't like Thimbleweed Park, the writing was childish and the game felt just like a collection of 90s adventure game cliches. Granted that's what people wanted, but it really did expose the naivety of the originals and/or the uninspared passion that went to this one. Oh and -Scully-'s voice actor was just plain horrible and the final straw that made me to stop playing.

I was the same this year. You had all theses big new -amazing- releases and I didn't really bother to pick up any of the other than Zelda, I do want play some of the games, but I just don't feel drawn to them. People will argue it's age related as to why I felt this year was -meh- but I'm somewhat young. The last few years in gaming have been a bit of a let down imo.
