Funny you talking about RGB nonsense. I'm the same way, but I wasn't always. Several of my early rigs -HAD- to have LED fans as a min.
I think I had 3 rigs going at once I'd built with UV-reactive IDE and SATA cables and blacklight CCFLs back in the 00s.
Main rig was a customized Slot1 Pentium 2-era Gateway tower w/ a c2d e6600 and Green LED fans and a 'Biohazard' etched acrylic window ordered from FrozenCPU.
Another was I think a Northwood P4 3. 0 with Blue LED fans.
The one in the corner was a 1. 2Ghz OC'd to 1. 3ish GHz Tualitin P3 Celery and 768MB PC133 with Red LED fans.
R, G, and B, just across 3 visually-themed builds.
Aspire/Apevia/Logisys do not make even remotely decent fans BTW. I have no idea why I kept buying them. Oh yeah, they were cheap and flashy.
At least my couple-few friends I had at the time thought it was cool AF (except the one that got the Celeron w/ less than a gig of RAM when the 2 that lived nearby were both over.
Around 2012-2013, my i5/i7 Ivy Bridge build was my first 'classy and dark' build. Haven't looked back since.
Wouldn't touch RGB as-offered today with a 10ft pole. Not only am I visually PWM/flicker sensitive, there have been a myriad of LED controller malwares. I also suspect some common to uncommon issues Gaemers are having being rooted in EMI/RFI from the PWM-switching noise transmitted through the LEDstrips strewn inside and outside of their windowed cases.

In late 2015 I built a PC z170 asus mobo with a 6700k i7! Thats how ya know you picked a solid processor. I overclock it to 4. 8 GHZ and am running it now!
I have the 970 Evo m. 2 as well. But man I only got a GTX 1060 6gb not the 1080. I'm having trouble deciding between a 1080 ti 11gb & the 3080 10GB. I dont really care about 8000 cores or 19 GB/s efferctive memory I think I'll grab a used 1080 ti 11gb. I just dont want an 8gb 3070. I am moving to 8th gen i7 6 core 8086k 5ghz on a 300 series chipset mobo.

Recently did a Threadripper 3970x build; couldn't get hold of the MSI TRX40 Creator so went with the MSI TRX40 PRO 10G -- which ended up working out even better for me since the pro is ATX (vs E-ATX) and fits in the scantly Fractal Meshify I wanted to use instead. Not as compact as I wanted but quite a bit smaller than the XL R2. Love the build! Gave me the inspiration / justification to take a similar route! Awesome video editing rig! Insane at compiling projects! And also plays games perfectly fine!

-My career is build around revisiting and relishing archaic computers and gadgets of eons past. So let me flex on all you scrubs with this epic build to film them for you! -
Mad respect, though. That's a slick build. Just put a Dark Rock Pro 4 AM4 in my new rig. It is a glorious beast of a cooler!

That motherboard is badass. It's really cool what you can do with all these PCIE lanes. Kinda makes you wonder what engineers will come up with next having access to so much bandwidth. Seems like you could come up with some new standard that takes advantage of it all. Seven SSD's though. Man!

The only lighting I like is a single LED strip, and even then, it's off most of the time. When I do use it, it's a static single color that matches the colors on everything else, at a very dim setting. I guess I am old too, but rainbow RGB cycling colors looks like a tacky christmas tree.

I've was having bad luck with plugging in usb 3. 0 headers. I ruined 3 usb 3. 0 ports on 2 motherboards. Then I realized the cable on my define s was defected to where one of the wholes didn't go all the way through blocked by plastic and would bend pin 10 every damn time.

I'm gonna be honest, something about watching this feels so. relaxing.
I don't understand a damn thing in terms of the specs, but it's fun to watch a PC being built. Reminds me that I need to get my computer upgraded at some point.

I put on enough cpu paste that it oozes out the sides so I know there is enough, then I take a damp towel and jam it in there to wipe off the excess. Then I let the board dry from the damp towel and it works fine every time.

I have a just purchased an Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD - exactly the one -LGR uses in this rig - so that I can capture VGA on my Windows 10 PC.
Any suggestions on what software or drivers are best to capture these recordings?
