Movies That Ruined People's Lives ShadowNinja: I know quite a few movies missing on this list, but I'll list one here: Ishtar. Came around in 1987 & was written and directed by Elaine May; Whom she had directed 'The Heartbreak Kid' & had also co-written for films like 'Tootsie' and even Jim Henson's 'Labyrinth'. Ishtar starred Warren Beatty & Dustin Hoffman (whom played the starring role in 'Tootsie', who played two wannabe singer/songwriters in the vein of Simon & Garfunkel known as Lyle Rogers and Chuck Clarke respectively. The plot involved them travelling to a booking in Morocco & stumbling into a war between the CIA and some rebels wanting to overthrow the Emir of Ishtar and bring social reforms for the country of Ishtar. Needless to say, this action-comedy film was an expensive flop. The film's budget costed around 51 Million and had only made 14. 4 Million in the box office. I've seen the film &, although it is. tolerable, I can say that it's not really a good film. The jokes weren't particularly funny and I felt some scenes just dragged on too long. That & some of the acting could be better, but that's just me. This film was so bad that Elaine May didn't even direct another film after doing this travesty, and Hoffman himself even regrets doing this film. North Americans only got this film on VHS & Blu-Ray, as far as I'm aware of. I watched the film on both formats &. Jeez. Not the worst film I've ever seen, it is watchable to an extent, I suppose, but still. I think maybe IHE should take a look at this film & see where it belongs on The Search For The Worst list. Found out there's a documentary regarding this film, too, apparently. What a film.

I can't stand people like her she bought that house knowing its history and then she gets mad when people start showing up to look at it did she really think that wouldn't happen I bet that when she bought that house she thought she was going to get something out of it other than just the house and when she didn't get what she expected she started getting mad she's a child with a toy that no one else has and you can't play with it unless you be her friend and let her tell you what to do and how to do it

I'm surprised the infamous Manos isn't on here. Apparently the actor who played Torgo - John Reynolds - had his legs put in braces so they'd look like goat's ones. (Torgo was supposed to be half goat but the writers just let you wonder why he had big thighs, walked bent at the knees and spoke in a bleating voice) The result was Reynolds being left in agony, addicted to the prescribed painkillers and shooting himself partly because of this aged just 25.

Mommie Dearest ruined Faye Dunnaway's career.
9 1/2 Weeks left Kim Bassinger feeling like a rape victim. Later, she gave her word she would act in Boxing Helena; when she found out how perverse the movie was, she backed out.
Even though she hadn't signed any contract, she was sued big time. The movie wound up tanking, anyway.

She buys the famous house, then complains that people come to look at it? She sounds like one of those cunts that buys a house next to music venue, then complains so much about the noise they're forced to shut down!

Well you see, your first mistake was buying a house that was in a movie. Your second one was closing it off to the public because you know super fans are going to break in to the area and take pictures anyway.

Safe to say the people who love the Goonies really really love it. and so is true for people like myself that can't stand that movie. I really really hate it. I think it's super overrated and is annoying.

So basically Walt Disney ruined that woman's career. May need to google this, but if that's really true then that's honestly just plain cruel, he essentially sabotaged her means of earning a living.
