Horror Movie Remakes That Are Better Than The Original Allie: Unpopular Opinion:
The Friday the 13th reboot wasn't that bad. I mean, think about it: Its got Jason (who actually super terrifying because he's freaking mountain man, its got some solid gore, its main relationship is a sweet brother and sister relationship (that isn't incest-y in any way, hooray, and it has two hilarious and honorable comic relief characters. The only problems I had with it was the extreme sleaziness and the other characters weren't that memorable. (And I know that what originally made Jason scary was how nonchalant he was about everything, i. e. literally walking around instead of chasing his victims, but seeing Jason full on sprint towards a victim scared the crap out of me)

Nice. A top ten of unnecessary horror remakes which allegedly beat the original as a method of hurting movie audiences, especially kids who sneak into these movies hoping to have fun with horror. Then come those nightmares, hospital stays, therapy sessions and uneasiness in the real world for which Hollywood remains unresponsive and uncaring. To them, traumatised kids means big box office dollars. This I still find sad. And yes, I have tried these films myself, and now I'm going backwards in development and have to resort to living in Green Acres for a long time to come. Anyone feel my pain, say so.

There's no comparison with the original Evil Dead and the remake, sorry Charlie
I'm a horror movie buff, your pic is obviously flawed
As you're not a horror movie buff like me
Bruce Campbell should have won the Oscar for Evil Dead and on top of that, no one in the remake comes close to the originals madness and exorcist type EVIL, female possessions in the original, how dare you even compared the two
One is a horror movie classic
The other is a Hollywood remake, you should be ashamed of your self!

Personally, I didn't care for the origonal Evil Dead movies. Many people like to flip me shit when I say that the 2013 remake is probably my favorite horror movie of all time. Veering away from the slapstick comedy aspects of it's predecessors and kicking the full on horror aspect into gear gave me chills. The dark comedy in the originals just didn't do it for me. My only exception was Army of Darkness. The idea of a sequel to the 2013 movie I believe is still up in the air, but I'd LOVE to see them do it!

The Fly, 1986 (original from 1958. I was so sure it's on the video.
I now see this list mainly compares originals from 1970s and on, to remakes from 1990s/mostly 2000s and on. Still, The Fly is fantastic also when compared to the best horror movies (original or remakes) of the 2000s. I connect much more with the emotion and vibe of 1980s horror, and 1986 The Fly is the film which stands out the most for me in the whole horror genre; let alone better than the decades-older original.

I think the original crazies is great in as much as the fact that it focuses more on terror rather than horror. The fear of the unknown, government interference, and skepticism of each other (all of which are things that were running rampant in real life at the time of release) do more for me then the horror of some scary acting and looking people. Terror and horror are two very different concepts and terror will always reign supreme.

The Evil Dead remake sucked. We went to watch it in the theater when it came out and I sat through the whole thing bored out of my mind cause nothing about it was scary. Maybe cause I had high hopes from the Youtube ads? They would scare me when they would come on. I was so let down. I hadn't even watched the original Evil Dead when the remake came out. I ended up watching it a couple days later I think and really enjoyed it.

Evil dead remake great? / Hills have eyes remake great? / crazies remake great? - BAHAHAH! Sorry but the 'ORIGINALS are GREATER' as they were. original. all these remakes just recover the same material in an updated way that only appears better today with current technology - that doesnt alter the fact that the originals - even being as low budget as they were - are VASTLY better!

I like Army of Darkness the most out of the old 3 for how fun it was. But yeah, the effects in the E. D. reboot were so gory I had to look away for at least one of them. I've not seen the old Crazies, but can kind of tell the new one played more on psychotic fear. As for like Silent house or Hills have eyes. Not seen the old ones of both, BUT did not care for the new ones.

Totally disagree with The Crazies. The original version is a brilliant, psychologically driven horror film on the same level of Cronenberg's Shivers in terms of sheer terror, atmosphere, and gritty realism. The remake is just trading on Romero's name and becomes a predictably watered down zombie story with little humanity and narrative purpose.
