Low Budget Movies That Made Millions Meghan: When My Big Fat Greek Wedding was released my mom and I were at the small I think in Minnesota but I'm not a hundred percent sure. We moved a lot when I was a kid so I'm not sure what state we were living in. But I'm pretty sure it was Minnesota and they were giving away free tickets to this very unheard of movie and it was My Big Fat Greek Wedding and it was the open first opening weekend and we raved about it to everybody we knew we were like this is such a good movie I can't believe it's not being you know shopped around or anyting. In fact the theater that was playing it was in a traditional movie theater it was like one of those ones that do old movies typically so they weren't even getting like you know a Cineplex or anything like that. Okay I don't know if Cineplex in the real place but you know what I mean they weren't getting like a an actual Cinema movie. I was so glad we got to see it for free and we went back like four or five times to buy tickets. Because we wanted to support the small film.

blair witch and paranormal activity is the worst movie in this list. shaky cams and found footage is just the worst type of movie ever. i don't understand why so many people love it. imagine driving a car flawlessly. now imagine it crashing. get the point?
i still remember when my friends were over hyped about it that they told me it's a real life video (probably due to the usage of ordinary cams) so i thought this is interesting. halfway through i realized this is utter BS. it's not a real life video because if what happened there happened in real life then why am i not seeing any news about it? it could be a breakthrough to a paranormal study. AND THAT FREAKING SHAKY CAM DROVE ME CRAZY! i think the only reason it went through is due to marketing.

The movies to list should have been as easy as using BoxOfficeMojo to populate a cost per earnings per rating graph. _Easy Peezy! _
Yes, _El Mariachi_ is a cynosure, but it is not a fraction of the production quality as _My Dinner With Andre. _
I can still visualize the wide grin of the owner of the Berkeley, CA 60-seat micro-theater, as patrons would line up around the block to see it. including me. I tried to purchase from him his tattered copy of the original B&W movie poster of _Harold & Maude_ on the lobby wall. He wouldn't sell it.
Oh yes, yet another omission: _Harold & Maude. _

I'd like to put in a plug for the quirky, but fascinating sci-fi thriller Primer.
Budget 7000
Gross 842, 000
I mean, how do you even make a movie with a running time of 77 minutes for seven grand. And if you are a sci-fi buff, it was a pretty damned good movie, 73% on RT with an audience score of 79%. Even better it won the Grand Jury Prize for dramatic film at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.

Meow, how in the hell did you forget Supertroopers?
1) Quit the shenanigans.
2) Stop chugging the maple syrup. 3) Quit hating on the highway hog. 4) Get out of the bedroom with light cuffing and spanking, and mustache rides.
5) And most of all, stop being a Farva and give credit where credit is due.

when i first watched blair witch i thought, Wow, that is so good. i really enjoyed it. but when i rewatched it for the first time since then, about a year ago, i thought, what the heck did i ever like about this? it was an absolutely misery to sit through. it felt like it was 5 hrs long.

I love My Big Fat Greek Wedding. At first I was very skeptical, but I ended up watching again and again over the years. LoL. That movie was made with heart by Nia Vardalos. I always have wet eyes when the dad presented her with the surprise wedding gift, reminds me to my own dad.

My mom and I went to the theaters and the only one we could find to watch was a movie just labeled Wedding on the ticket screen. So we just went ahead and went and boy were we happy we did! We loved it! At the time it really did feel like we hit a little movie gem.

My own (planned) movie with a budget under 1mil, will gross 250, 000, 000 Worldwide. I say that because every Indie film-maker thinks that's what's going to happen to his planned film. 'All I need is the money, ' we say and plod along re-re-rewriting the script.
