4 Best And 4 Worst Things About Us
video description
This also plays into an interesting look at how people in general can be manipulated, and make you ask; are you REALLY in control? Clone girl was able to either directly control her original, or at least influence her, because the original didn't seem to WANT to make her own choices, being content to let her parents--or others decide for her. Clone girl knew the simple truth, you either take control, or you will will end up being controlled. Which she did. When original girl gets stuck in the tunnels for most of her life, she would learn this lesson the hard way. She recounts the horrors when the families are sitting together in the living room. How the original woman was forced to get with a man she didn't love and have kids with him, which she describes as monsters because the clone woman was doing the actions above ground. What she's really saying here, is because of clone Mom--original Mom was raped and forced to give birth. Even describing how she had to perform her own c-section because that's what clone Mom went through with her second child. Maybe that was the final straw that made original Mom regain enough strength to take back control, and fight to free herself and all the tethered. That even though she herself wasn't a clone, she knew exactly what it was like to give over control to someone else, and knew you can't stay living that way. She finally figured out what clone girl knew from the beginning, you learn to take control of your own life, or someone else will.

That explanation given by Red for me was both too much and too little, because hey, clones just don't work like that, and there really is no good explanation why these clones do. Would have worked better for me if it had all been just left as a mystery, or there had been some vague hints to black magic, or the government working with some aliens with science and technology far beyond what we now have. Or just aliens.
Or a strong impression that Red basically after all had no damn idea what she was talking about and her explanation was a guess, based on very much NOT understood idea of science and clones she remembered from seeing it in some 80's television document, and what little she had maybe been taught in school, and add to that what little she had found in the tunnels (where the hell would she have gotten that knowledge anyway? The tethers could not speak and seemed to have not much of an idea of anything, did some scientist just come to check on the experiment and tell everything to the one girl/woman who did speak? Or did Red find some written documents somewhere, and the real explanation might be very different.
Okay, there was a lot of good in the movie too, and the actors were excellent. But that explanation mostly ruined it for me. Also, no explanation as to where the Tethers got their clothing. Or how the rabbits were fed, sure they might work as food to the Tethers but they need to eat too. Besides, I don't think you can subsist your whole life solely on rabbit meat, or grow up strong on it as there seems to be such a thing as protein poisoning, which used to be even called rabbit starvation - a rare form of acute malnutrition thought to be caused by a near complete absence of fat in the diet, is what its Wikipedia article says. Rare because in real life nobody has that restricted diet for months on end. But the Tethers supposedly had just it for their whole lives? The whole thing just makes no damn sense unless you assume some sort of magic, or that super advanced alien science which might as well be magic, but that movie seemed to try and explain it as some sort of science.

I am not an expert on any genre, just a lover of films. I believe the conflict you see with the tethered is more organic than you may think. Compulsion. Uh, like doing something harmful to oneself because it feels natural. Their Original purpose is to mimic their Other So, the fight is to be an individual. Maybe explains the robotic movement and actions motivated by rage(Or Belief System. It has to be powerful enough to reject the natural inclination to simply do like your Original design. If you notice only when they eradicate their Originals are they truly free to join their Brethren hand in hand. Simple action and a decision by their own thoughts, desire, and motivation. freely. The 1st freed Tethered (A Homeless Man, I might add) is Smiling, basking in the sun as more and more join him. What makes me wonder is Adelaide seems to be driving the motivation, but if you notice Red started her rebellion with that dance, dance was done and she invested in other things. Adelaide peaked at that time. Never dancing again. Red Controlled Adelaide in those instances, right? Love the video, even if I do not agree on some things.

I watched a video that showed theories we missed about US and they said that they wore red jumpsuits because the day the two young girls switched Adilede had a red candy apple and dropped it right before she walked into the house of mirrors and also it symbol of blood in meaning terrorising and killing many people my guess is when real Adilede had a candy apple in her hand that night she wanted to remind the one that dragged her into the hell SHE came from so she put a glove in the same hand on all of the tethered people. And I'm guessing they kill them with scissors because they want to show as a metaphor that they can never cut the chain across America I'm assuming that because in the end the tethered/real Adilede cut out a whole paper piece of art work on the chalk board with those scissors. I just picked up a few things.

I just watched this video and i am very disappointed and truly offended. First, there is a reason why there are all those metaphors. This movie is a puzzle to be solved. Its not like Get Out that you can understand everything no figure it out yourself. Second, the Tylers are just another one of those metaphors. They are metaphors for how shallow the society is. Lastly, the plot twist was foreshadowed since the start. The tethered cannot speak and the reason why Adelaide cannot speak. Also, Red mysteriously is the only one who can speak. And her voice was like that of a person who had destroyed vocal cords. Vocal cords that could have been destroyed by choking the person to near death. However i also agree with your list of good things that this movie had. Thats all

I think Jordans films have flaws. But what I do like is that he is at least he is experimenting. People say his films arent horror. Well, I think people dont really understand what horror is. Movies that came out post 1986 calling themselves horror are really slasher films. The truth is that Jordans films are actually closer to being like early horror films before silly/gory slasher films took over. Now days people assume it isnt horror unless they are jumping out of their seat scared. Not true. Thats why movies like Psycho was so popular. Not gory but it its scary because it messes with you psychologically. It makes you question everything. That is far scarier to me than aliens or zombies running around

Why was the Entrance to the the Tethered underground tunnels unlocked? Why didn't they wonder to the top? Why did they act as mirror image in the some scene and not in others.
-Simple its symbolize the in imprisonment of the mind. The same reason they are wearing the jail house jumpsuits. The tethered always had free will. They just didn't realize it because they were condition not to. The fact that Red wasn't really a tethered but followed along with her double anyway proves that. Also Red said that they were created to control the people on top. Not the other way around.
This movie is a whole lot deeper than what this video explains.

7: 19 on freewill and mirror image
So. The way some of the tethered can be controlled is actually rather simple. We know that Adelaide was trapped by red and red took over her life. Which means she is the actual mother of the normal kids. This means that the kids are actually part tethered in the first place. Which gives them a stronger connection with their tethered counterparts, in addition to the fact the only tethered that are manipulated by the real people are the kid's dopplegangers.
They never really explain this, but from what I could see, that's how this whole control thing works during the end of the film with the small boy and pluto.

This is wrong. The movie is symbolism about the U. S. thats why it becomes a nationwide crisis. Its a metaphor for privilege. Not necessarily white privilege, but privilege in general. We are scared of us. Deep down were scared of the others, whether your black or white. It wasnt messy, the story was coming all together, and the full story comes together in the end. Peele isnt making the film messy by doing so, the story just comes together in the end. And who says more tethered people didnt go up to the real world? Hmm maybe the son? Maybe you shouldve done more research and deep diving in this movie before making this opinionated video.

Most of the movies problems come from the Tethered being the product of science rather than magic. If they were doppelgangers from a mirror dimension lead by Red who was swapped or something to incite the mass exodus to our world and mass murder to replace us on some sort of crusade that has some morale merit. It could still be about the poor and disenfranchised. And the movies message and subtext would largely be identical. It takes care of the need to eat, where they hid, and how they otherwise live parallel to us. Still like the movie, but it being a suddenly abandoned government plot to control the populous tarnishes it a lot for me.
