The Truth About Netflix's The Dirt Tim: That movie was terrible. Bad acting, pretty much missed the mark on Neil being a drunken. 17 Blood alcohol level) but put it in a way were to sympathetic towards him. Neil and Lee are perpetual woman abusers. The director, screenwriters, all seem to want the viewers to see them as victims of fame, bad childhood, dying child, etc. Yes, a 4 year old dying of cancer is awful and I feel sympathetic towards Neil. The scene was bad acting and over the top bad dialogue. Sixx and Mars actors did well in their respective roles. Lee and Neil, just awful. They missed a chance to have Alice Coopers influence on the band during their farewell tour. I do realize all autobiographical movies take liberties with timelines and actual events, but the things they chopped up were not as interesting as what really happened. Lee and Anderson were married during some of the movies timeline, but no mention was made. Neil had a public rivalry with Axel Rose, also not mentioned. Although we briefly see a Slash lookalike on the couch, he and many other rock stars were present during Sixxs OD. Again, more interesting than the cookie cutter way the OD was filmed.

Truth is, it was pretty shit past the first twenty minutes.
Far too short, it was just a silly story about a bunch of kids partying for a couple years, have an argument, then have a cry in a bar and make up.
Terrible.
It needed to be a series, like eight or even ten episodes, and then they could have told the whole story without massive skipping forward and ignoring or glossing over huge consequences for their actions like the death of Razzle and Nikki overdosing.
Being a sub-two hour movie just ruined the whole thing. And that's a shame, because the actors were pretty good and the first twenty minutes or so was a great start and really got you into the movie. But it was all downhill from there.

They didn't play The Rainbow Club. First, It's the Rainbow Bar & Grill. It is a restaurant and bar. There is a dance floor upstairs. Only recently have they hosted live music. The section in the book that is mentioned about The Rainbow mentions nothing about playing there. They were simply hanging out there. It has long been a rock and roll hangout. Re-read the 3 or 4 paragraphs before the one about the burritos. It describes The Rainbow accurately.

Look. No one really cares if the movie isnt exactly factually correct. You have to understand movies are about entertainment. Real life drags and people find documentaries boring most of the time.
I think the movie gave a taste what life was like for them in a light hearted way and also gave us a look at how bad things were for them as well. So do I really need to know if Vinces fridge died in 1984 vs 1987?
Nope.

So I am supposed to believe that Nikki Sixx swung his bass and struck a dude on the head with the side of it during a fight between the fans and the band? That would have probably killed somebody. They didn't get kicked out of the club by the owner for that and arrested? Rather they just went back on stage and played and won over the crowd after they supposedly fought the crowd? Yeah sure. that happened like that!

I sat through the movie. To me it was worse than the Doors movie. I read the the book in 2000 and thought it was funny and worth reading. The movie was so cheesy and the actors so bad that if it was a DVD I would have burned it or put it in the microwave, maybe pour acid on it, tied it to a bottle rocket. that would have been more interesting than the film.

I had higher expectations for the movie The Dirt. It told the truth as far as the book went but certain facts were rearranged to fit what they could into a 90 minute or so movie. If you're going to tell a rock n roll tale. Tell it right, just like it happened. It was a fun movie to watch BUT the book was far better. 3/5 stars.

Any Cruehead who really knows their true story knows the movie is just about spot on, except for a few timeline discrepancies. I wish everyone would just enjoy the movie & have fun with it. I love the band, the tunes & the movie for what it is. a great band with a killer story (no pun intended. Just enjoy folks.

If you read the the book you can easily realize that it could be a much bigger movie. i dont know if it's a studio thing or a budget thing. but if you took that movie and make it a bit extreme like ''wolf of walf street'' which is a big studio budget succesful movie it would be much better
