Thor's Drastic Change In Endgame Explained
video description
I don't doubt the next time we see him. if it is guardians or something else. that in the very first scene he will be back ti his swole self. But I thought it was ballsy of Marvel to keep him looking like this the entire movie. Sometimes when you are going through these internal conflicts you reflect them physically. I do not think it undoes Ragnarok. sometimes you need to go 2 steps forward, one step back to become a more whole person.

I HATE what they did to Thor. In my book its complete character assassination and here are my reasons why.
1. He is a God previously shown to drink with alcohol having no effect (AoU)
2. His complete falling apart DOES NOT fit his character. Every time he has failed hes either turned to anger or compassionate apology.
3. The characterisation fatshames and makes fun of PTSD, if you find fat thor relatable you should be mad they made him into the butt of a joke
4. The humourous side of thor again doesn't fit with his character. His humour previously has always been either a result of him being the straight man, or humour to lighten tension he is feeling in combat situations. His humour in this came from beng a bumbling fool
5. They completely depowered thor in terms of his power level. He went from taking a direct force of a star and soloing 6 stoned thanos to failing to fight nostone thanos WITH HELP.
6. He went from realising his responsibility and leadership to asgard in ragnarok to completely abandoning his people, which his friends and family all died to protect. Its out of character and regressive.
Having a character say theyve had a change of heart does not make a decision in character if their decision doesnt follow the logical line of character development and previous characterisation.

Revenging to Thanos who killed his brother and bestfriend and half of his people seemed to be the biggest motivation for him to stay strong and become so sacrificial in Infinity War, but the fact that he failed to kill him when he had a chance, and lost the infinity stones again when they finally got Thanos knocked him down. He lost everything, he blamed himself for the death of his family, friends and people, blamed himself for failing to save the universe, blamed himself for not doing anything right, his home, his hammer, his eye, are all lost. If you notice in the film he reacts extra sentimentally to death. Out of the Avengers he suffered the most, he stands still because he got the responsibility of a prince, a goal to hang on to, but after all of that happened, his life became meaningless and he had no hope to pull him up. Every characters suffers, but Thor for me it won't be persuasive if after all those things he's still strong and in shape.

Yeah obviously they used him as a bit of Comic Relief in Endgame but its still fit to his Arc. He's a god won everybattle his been through and then suddenly
Mother Died
Father Died
Sister Died
Brother Died
His long time friend Heimdall Died
Half of his people killed by his own sister
Half of that he saved on ship slaughtered by Thanos
Then Half of that again Dusted by the snap
His own Realm (Asgard) was Destroyed too
He's a GOD that lost everything He felt like he Failed and Blames himself for everything.
i feel like everyone that is complaining about Thor in Endgame only watched IW and Endgame.
Oh and His GF left him too!

Well for me It's not Thor's fault why Thanos succeeded, he did his best in the Infinity war. Remember: he took the full force of a star that nearly ended his life. Maybe he just lacked intelligence which was confirmed that he is not much of an intelligent Avenger. Please don't forget what Quill(Star lord) did, It was all his fault for hitting Thanos when they nearly succeeded in getting the gauntlet. My favorite Avenger is Thor so I got mixed feelings about his changes in the Endgame but he looks so badass with the beard and the long hair combined with his glowing eyes. So yeah! Thor is still the best!

I have a question =
When capt return the power stone to 2014, what happen with the reality in 2014 where there is no thanos (no thanos reality)? is it just poof away? like the ancient said, returning the stone will prevent branched reality.
BUT we know that gomora is still left in endgame, and she was a product of branched reality itself.
like, what happen if someone return stone to 2014, when thanos & the gang still left in endgame? would they just suddenly disappear to prevent branched reality? or they still exist because they already in the new reality (endgame)?

What exactly was wrong with Thor in Thor 1? He was noble, and a coolly
fun 'fish out of water on earth' character. Since when was Thor ever a
virtual 24/ 7 comedian? (Ragnarok. That joke about everything shit
took the suspense right out of some key scenes - all just because Wakiki
esp. LOVES to joke about all the time. The bottom line is Thor isn't
supposed to be the Marvel equivalent of Obelix (from Asterix. Yes,
the portrayal in Endgame was well executed (and a tad more toned down
than Rag) but still too much of a joke being played, ffs!

I think the decision to make Thor depressed and fat was to nerf his powers in Endgame. We all saw how he almost single handedly won Thanos in a fight in Infinity War. Having Thor in Endgame with those same abilities wouldn't make any action scenes exciting as Thor would easily defeat Thanos. So they had to make him kind of weaker which i think was a great decision. This was also done to Captain Marvel. We all know how strong she is so to prevent her from winning Thanos easily, the directors made her deal with the issues on other planets which is another great move.

To be fair he did
-Defeat Surtur
-Witnessed Odins Death
-Had his Hammer destroyed
-Evil Sister released
-Thrown in Sakaar
-Fought Hulk
-Escaped Sakaar
-Eye got slashed
-Had to destroy Asgard
-Gets Intercepted by Thanos
-Half his people gone; Heimdall and Loki are dead
-Left in Space
- Withstood the heat of a star
- Fought Thanos' army in Wakanda
-Didnt go for the head
-Could have stopped half the universe from dying, but didn't
All in the span of about 4ish days without rest. that can be a bit rough
