I'm confused. I thought Thor was a name not a mantle. God (or Goddess) of Thunder would be the mantle that could be passed on. Cap didn't become Thor when he wielded Mjolnir. Loki became Loki: God of Thunder. Eric Masterson became Thunderstrike after pretending to BE Thor. Inheriting the power of Thor and becoming a God or Goddess of thunder I get. How does she get his very name? In the old What If comic from back in the day she became Thordis when she had the hammer. Why the change in lore?

Wow; not even a supporting character like Jane Foster can escape the bad writers of Marvel.
Of course they killed off the Valkyrie; she was an underappreciated character that Marvel never developed or used properly, and the writers didn't know how to write for her. I don't have a problem with Jane Foster being made a Valkyrie, it's actually a refreshing idea; but they didn't have to kill of Brunhilda, a great character, to do it.

just a little nit pick here but you said odinson, now thor again. as if his name is taken away with the hammer? it kinda annoys me when people say new thor, its ok if they say like the new batman or the new superman. those are superheros thors his real name. id like it if they give jane a new super hero name cuz itll be confusing when she and thor are standing next to each other and someone yells thor! how are they talking to?

sniff sniff. do I smell dumpster fire? one you can't save by sandwiching it in between end game and infinity? yup. well at least we got almost 40 good hours of movies up until this point. smh. in the convention the hammer seemed like it held her not the other way around. spare me the pandering. well it's back to the subtitled action genre / manga- that market won't budge and respects it's true fan base.

Jane Foster was really a boring character and Natalie Portman was a perfect fit as the character. I didn't read the Female Thor comics due to the fact that Thor was his name and not a title and Marvel was not into creating original characters at the time. So many characters in Marvel that are underutilized and so many stories that can be used to make awesome movies. Whatever happened to originality?

Thor is a name not a title! Originally it WAS a title- Donald Blake turned into Thor in the 60s, but it was retconned that Thor was his own person and Donald Blake was a construct.
Now? It's both, Thor is a name AND a title making Thor a unique position- he's a legacy in his own lifetime, and that's an interesting theme that's explored in his comics, but go off I guess.

My God, this shit sounds like a bad soap opera. She is, but now she is not, but now she is again. But she died, but now she is alive, but she is sick, she died coz she is sick! but now she is alive and well. But now she is not, but now she is again. But now she is not again, but now she is a new hero.
My dear God. I have seen diarrhea less shitty than this.

I still can't believe that this failure of a story arc is going to be turned into a blockbuster MCU movie.
Marvel have decades of amazing characters and stories and they decide to go with this modern Marvel trash.
