I think the Met Gala like we know it today, filled with artists and celebrities trying to be walking pieces of Art with their fashion, we wouldn't have that if not because of Lady Gaga's influence in pop culture, she changed it forever, now you see it today with new artists as well like it's the everyday thing to do.
Also the Met Gala shifted right after Gaga performed on it on 2010, from then forward the red carpet turned from high class celebrity fashion to a high couture, custom made, walking Art pieces that could belong in a museum. The way Gaga's been doing it always. She's an Icon and a Legend.
