We cant wait to see whats in store for the new Mulan! For this list, well be choosing what we absolutely need to see in Disneys remake of the 1998 animated musical, coming in 2019. We want to see our favorite characters be kept the same. We also want the epic avalanche battle to remain in the movie, since it would look just as awesome in some form in live action, as tricky, and expensive it would be to recreate

Sorry, but am I the only one who thinks that Disney made a mistake for choosing Niki Caro as the director of Mulan?
I'm not saying that Niki Caro's movies are bad, but it's just that her area or style in movies just doesn't fit Mulan's concept.
I'll try to make this brief.
Niki Caro is good at portraying movies in terms of discussion of family conflict or such (basically relationship builds, she's aware of that and is really good at it.
But in the case of visual imagery, aesthetic, and design for this movie, I don't think she's could properly execute the Chinese concept.
Based on her past movies, it's all very western-centric. Which effects where this movie is currently heading to.
(and the power idea, what is this? a superhero movie)
the whole point of the movie is to show that Mulan have what it takes just the way she is (which what draws the audience to her)
The concept and overall planned storyline is a very westernized (just to be clear I have nothing against the western concept, but it just doesn't match Mulan)
I'm not saying that Disney should scrape Niki out of the picture, instead I think that the position co-director or producer would be better fitting for her.
Not to be racist or anything, but I think a Chinese Director would be fitting for this position.
Because they know the authenticity of Chinese culture best, and they know how to properly portray what it was like in their past culture.
they know what and how are things supposed to be portrayed.
One of the perfect candidates which I think will be perfect is, Jackie Chan (considering he has worked for Disney before)
he has the perfect balance between comedy, family, and etc (while maintaining the Chinese inheritance)
But so far, good luck Mulan lovers. We will go down in the train of depression together when the movie comes out.
(keep in mind that this is just an opinion)

One thing I REALLY want to see: during the finale in the Forbidden City--WIRE WORK directed by Ang Lee! Reminding everyone that, at this point, Mulan is as kick-butt as the leader of the Huns, they need a choreographed battle equal to anything in Crouching Tiger. THAT would bring honor to everyone!
reply

The one thing I REALLY hope they keep is her powerful scene in which she makes her decision and disguises herself with her father's armor. Look, even if it's not accompanied by that amazing powerful song, a variation of that scene NEEDS to be in there, with some equally dramatic music.

I need the song Reflection, Youll Bring Honor to Us All, A Girl Worth Fighting For, and ILL MAKE A MAN OUT OF YOU
oh wait those are all of the songs
But I still have one question. If they do Refection then how will the actress wipe the makeup flawlessly off her face?

In my opinion the remake of Mulan might as well be PG-13 cause it's a war film just like it's animated counterpart. No doubt this remake is gonna have a lot of intense action sequences. And since Mulan is a war movie I wonder how they're gonna keep it rated PG.

As far as music goes, it could go in 3 different directions:
1. All of the songs: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
2. Some of the songs: THE JUNGLE BOOK (i. e, The Bare Necessities, I Wanna Be Like You)
3. Songs only in the End Credits: CINDERELLA

It's Not Coming in 2019 it's Coming Out in 2020 and i'm Not Exited For it Cause it's a Remake That Nobody Demanded And it's Going To Sucked Which This Mulan Remake is Very Unnessesary And i Know That it's going to Be Bad

I want the dramatic scene with mulan singing reflections because that is mulan all about. Not the war. But her transformation. Thats her edge among all these disney princesses and makes her even more relevant today
reply

Well, I know one song Disney could (and should) integrate into the remake: A Girl Worth Fighting For. How you might ask? Well, soldiers usually sings songs while marching to war, well this could be that song.

I'm used to versions of Mulan in China, where she's already one of the best fighters and a lesser god was sent to watch her secretly and help indirectly, instead of a dragon She didn't need his help either
reply

I wanted exactly ONE thing from a live remake of Mulan: elaborate acrobatic wire-work in the style of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. From what I've seen in the trailers: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Mulan have been one of my favorite disney movie, I've heard that they will remove Shang, Mushu or even the 3 soldier friends of Mulan! That's not fair! Wish that they don't change the characters.
reply

Honestly, I just wanna see the Mongols (refuse to call them Huns because history) given more dimension, especially given that the original portrayed them more as orcs than people.
reply

During the era depicted in legend of Mulan, China had many minorities populations including the Caucasian race. Historically speaking it is possible to have white characters lol
reply

Disney did a great take on The Mulan FABLE/Legend. But Mulan is not an original Disney story. It's like saying Disney orginally wrote The King Arthur Legend.
reply

No need to worry about whitewashing. Itll be a full blown Chinese cast including A listers Jet Li & Donnie Yen no Jackie Chan or Ming Na Wen though
reply

Get Choi Siwon as Shang haha even though he is korean atleast he is asian.
He looks like him, he sings, can speak english and and has a nice body

reply

I hope that they decide to go in the direction of Hua Mulan: Rise of a Warrior. I mean the music in the first one was great, but this is a war story.
reply

It seems like nothing you mentioned will be part of the Movie: /
Except the Chinese casting and that is not even the most important thing

reply

Afyer Beauty and the Beast ive been skeptical about these remake shiits and now its after one my favorite cartoon movie since i was a kid
reply

I wanted to see Eddie Murphy in a dragon costume. Not even a good one, just a cheap one and just play Mushu as that. I would love that
reply

Yaaassss. make song in 2 versions, Chinese and English one! personally I'd love to hear Reflection in Chinese version in this movie:
reply

No Shang, No Mu shu, No Cricket, No songs. Uninteresting to watch! It is like a completely different movie. Not a live action of mulan.
reply

After seeing the teaser two months ago, Im cool with Mulan receiving the non musical treatment. The Avalanche battle is my #1 must!
reply

The cast needs to be Chinese and Chinese American and Taiwanese American actors to be in the movie and the songs need to be Chinese

I Love Mulan it's One of My Favorite Disney Movies So i Wil included in My Top 20 List of My Favorite Hand Drawn Disney Movies
reply

I'm also sad that all songs from Mulan in the live action Mulan is gone because they want it to be instrumentals only: (
reply

There's an error in that scene. Shang goes walking right into the rock wall when carrying the bags on his shoulders.
reply

Don't need a cutsie remake-- I want to see elements of the true story. This needs to be more mature and high quality.
reply

No, just keep the song. Not the scene. Mulan already knew how to fight. Mulan was taught by her father and mother.
