Modelling isn't about being pretty. A lot of successful models aren't pretty by the common standards. If staying at your most pretty means a lot to you, go into pageantry, make-up artistry, some sort of performance, or do something corporate or political where outward appearance also matters a whole lot. Modelling is about standing out and looking memorable like a walking billboard. People in the industry see an endless parade of pretty girls and hunky guys all day long, ever day. Just looking really odd can get you noticed and get you working.
The fashion industry is, by nature, trendy. Designers and ad people do book based on trends, whether today that trend is bald with freckles or red headed with buck teeth- what ever look is selling the best right now is what they are all looking to find. Some companies consistently book models that fit within their existing brands. Tyra stays on top of all those industry needs and trends and tries to give her current contestants their best shot of being picked up by agencies and getting work with designers and commercial clients right now. This is why a lot of old looks from previous seasons do not age well. Those old looks were of the moment. Is she perfect, well of course not! Tyra and her team are genuinely tying their best, though. Remember that her success and money are tied into this show. Each working model she sends out into the world from participating on the show (or even from just growing up being a fan of the show) is a boon to her own reputation.
If you are a model (or just a well-rounded person) you don't let your confidence ride on your current hair style. Models are expected to change their looks to fit with someone else's vision, be it for a single runway show or a years-long ad campaign. Being a willing chameleon is a huge part of the job description. If you can't or won't get a buzz cut or dye your hair green because someone else wants you to, then modelling isn't for you. Do something else that will make you happy instead. Not every pretty girl is a born model, even if that potential may be there. Not everyone good with math is cut out to be a high school calculus teacher. It is important to find something you are good at that you also love doing. Then you never work a day in your life, as they say.

Am I the only one who thought Cassandra looked good with short hair? She was pretty but just looked like an average pretty girl with long hair but with short hair she had an edge and pulled it off really well.
Also that two tone hair actually looks kind of awesome, but the dyed eyebrow looked really weird.
Last point, good god, that horse mullet, no one could pull that off. Even Yoanna, who I think was one of the most beautiful winners and who rocked that short hair would not be able to rock that.

I found it annoying when the girls resisted getting short haircuts. It's really sad that the rampant misogyny and obsession with appearance in our society makes girls so afraid to cut their hair short. I hate the pressure we women have to have long hair. It's so irrational. It's just hair. Side note: I liked Shei's makeover.

Everyone knows that if all of the makeovers were actually good in the entire series there wouldn't be any drama &all of the best reality shows include lots of unnecessary drama ( perfect example the real housewives series on the Bravo Network)

Loved Sheis split dye tbh. They did destiny from season 19 wrong. I feel like Tyra picks her favorite in the beginning and let's them have the good styles and gives her favorite the bad ones so they leave. If that makes sense

I thought Jaeda's cut was a rare example of an extreme change being successful, she just never figured out how to get over it. C6 Jade should have been on here, she turned it out but those ramen pubes were god awful.
