Viola Davis is an Oscar-winning and Emmy-winning actress who has played many memorable characters. We're looking at Viola Davis' most iconic roles, such as her roles in Doubt, Fences, How to Get Away with Murder, Prisoners, The Help, and more. The focus is on quality and not quantity, so Davis might not have a particularly huge role in some of these entries. List Entries and Rank: 10: Get On Up (2014) 9: Won't Back Down (2012) 8: Solaris (2002) 7: The Architect (2006) 6: Prisoners (2013) 5: Antwone Fisher (2002) 4: The Help (2011) 3, 2, 1:?

Viola is a great actress! She is my all time favorite. Simply love her! Every role that she gets, she turns it into something astonishing. She is simply amazing. I have always described her as the female version of Denzel Washington. Yes, she is that good. We, as black people, are so proud of Viola as an actress. She deserves the highest respect for the body of work that she has accomplished. Whatever role may be in Violas future, I am sure that she will give it the intensity that it may call for. Viola can truly handle it with class. Peace.

I haven't seen a lot of her work, but from what I have seen I completely agree with the top choice. Her performance in Doubt was flawless, and the best sequence in the film. Put opposite Meryl Streep (who gave a very powerful performance in the scene) Davis manages to actually steal the film from Streep. Her heartbreak in that scene is actually tangible. This woman is long overdue for Best Actress at the Oscars for sure.

Violas scene in Doubt is so complex.
She knows he will he hurt by his father on the one hand or abused by the priest but her hope is if he can just make it til.
if youve lived with abusive relationships, you know what is to hang your hopes on just being able to endure until BLANK happens. But IME when BLANK, life doesnt change very much.

When I tell you when God gave us actresses like Cicely Tyson, Angela Bassett, Halle Berry, Octavia Spencer, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, and the divine Viola Davis he made no mistakes because he knew what the world needed. My god! Stellar performance! Just stellar!

You have to consider Doubt was flawless acting wise. Viola only got under seven minutes in the movie and she kind a stole the movie. That scene really made me so sad for little boys because everything she said was a horrible truth about society.

I could watch that scene from Fences and Doubt over and over again - I study her - from the way her mouth subtly trembles to the snot that flows from her nose as she cries real tears - her acting is amazing!

Really insightful. As for the honorable, I first recognized her talent in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent in which she played a school safety officer. She was BRILLIANT!

People didnt like the movie the help because it showed the truth of how Black people was treated back then. They want to wash it away from history and act like it never happened.

This woman is an incredible woman, every role she played were awesome, my most favorite is her role in How To Get Away With Murder, she is just an amazing actress

Im just sad we cant go back in time and put her performance as Michelle Obama in here. Its one of her only comedy performances and I was in stitches throughout.

i aint gon cap Viola and those runny nose/snot scenes were always on point, i dont care what anyone has to say. ion know how she did it but she did. goddd

Ive never seen someone say nothing, and say everything at the same time. Antwone Fisher was the first movie I seen her in, and it was masterful!

Like she said on the speech there are not as many opportunities for women of color. I love her my favorite actress, I rely love her on doubt amazing!

Let us see her incredible acting. The annoying voiceover could be cut in half and done as an intro instead of talking over these in scenes.

Thank you VD for sharing your gift with us. You are truly a remarkable and amazing actress. The Help and Fences is an impeccable 1, 2 punch!
reply

She is just an amazing actress, her commitment is so awesome. I love how she embody every single one of the characters that she has done.

For me HTGAWM is #1. By far the best murder mystery series i've ever watched and best acting ever! Viola Davis is talented beyond words!

How the mighty have fallen. it's honestly really disappointing and a little depressing how badly she lost her mind.
reply

I'm tipping they are gonna need to update this after The Woman King comes out! Just saw the trailer today! Wow! Can't wait!
reply

You missed Ma Rainey's black bottom - Viola is a genius and is one the best actors to have ever shared the craft with us.
reply

If you ever update this, youre gonna have to remove one of these choices so theres room for Ma Raineys Black Bottom.
reply

Love her, and her great talent, but narration is grating, hyper and completely takes away from Davis' performances.
reply

That Antoine Fischer scene was a complete class on acting, she literally said nothing but you can feel EVERYTHING.
reply

SHE is probably the best ACTRESS. she honestly is equal to the great Meryl Streep. SHE is AMAZING! I LOVE HER
