7: 28 That Season 1 filter is called Black Pro Mist. It's typically used in dream sequences in movie or to simulate fog or mist, because it diffuses the image, softens the edges and accentuates and as in the case of Season 1, blows out the highlights, although in older movies they did smear Vaseline on the lense for that softer dreamy effect. And that effect get more dramatic and/or blurry depending on how intense the filter is used. That is why everything in Season 1 is a bit hazy, and it really was used to hide the low production value since they were literally filming in a Burbank basement. And super fans will notice that the filter is also in Seaaon 2, but obviously not at intense. There is a whole article somewhere where Ongina explains that they had to cut between scenes for a bit while the camera guys put new lense filters on.

Id say Im a big fan of Drag Race but I never bothered to watch season 1 (I started watching when 8 got added to Canadian Netflix) and seeing how low quality 1 is I just thought meh.
I finally watched it last week and it honestly isnt as bad as its made out to be, not amazing but still a good watch! Id be interested in seeing Rebecca Glasscock come back and see if she still wears everyday clothes on the runway lol

I do think they were harder on Shannel because she was SO polished and she knew it. She does come across as arrogant, but I think that's part edit and part legitimate frustration from her. She was just over it when she eliminated herself.
I've had it happen to me and I know it pissed me off. If it happened every week, I would have been just as over it as she was

Nina and Ongina were both ahead of their time where Drag Race was concerned. They did not get the hype they deserved at the time! I also fully think that if this were a later season Bebe would have gone home instead of Ongina b/c she randomly de-wigged with no motivation

I enjoyed the finale so much. I really loved both Nina and Bebe and was happy with either one of them winning, because they were both so beautiful, talented, creative, fun-loving, and genuinely nice. Also, I've always loved how happy Nina was for Bebe when she won.

I just finished watching season2.
I'm sure of season1 queens were much attractive for me.
Season2's Top 3 were ok, their were fashionable and beautiful, but little bit bulgar especially Tyra.
Nina and Bebe, and spicy Rebbeca is much hotter than them.

It's funny I was there on day one for the first season. I loved it. It was everything I needed at that time. I watched season 2 then kind of stopped watching the show. I really no nothing about the other seasons drag performers. Those first 2 season were enough.

I think that the problem was that Nina and Ongine were representing the drag that wasn't respected as much and they were looking more for fishes and that's why Bebe won over Nina and Ongina and lets be honest Bebe knew 2 words in that lip sync.

The first 6 seasons were the best. It now so over produced and rigged and all the life has been sucked out of the show. It's just the same predictable formula every season and with so many franchises they all just melt into one big mush.

Can someone please explain this HIDEOUS filter the show used for the first season? It literally makes everything look like it was ripped from a porn VHS tape from the late 80's and poorly transferred to DVD.

I won't never get over the fact Nina Flowers didn't win this season. She was constantly performing her best and never got to sing for her life until the final episode. Loved and lover her so much.

i know pretty much every queen from every season but for me there is just a big gap for season 1. Like i know bebe, nina, ongina, shannel, tammie, and pork chop but the rest is just blank.
