The chocolate river was always dumb in the original movie. Remember, the Oompa-Loompas were adding sugar to it AFTER the waterfall mixed the chocolate. So why?
Its main appeal was adding a fun background for the room, and allowing Augustus to get sucked up by the big hose. Great visual if you don't think too hard.
What most people don't notice is how Wonka planned every accident along the way. All of his vehicles had two fewer seats as the movie progressed. There would have been no seating for Augustus and his mom on the ship if they were still in the group.

The Charlie/Wonka era was not supposed to be during the 40's; I think it was supposed to be taking place in the 30's; this WAS a major movie error; But the Burton reimagining was made so that It would be impossible to discern what era the story would be taking place so they would not have to run the risk of making that same mistake. I know because from what I have read and seen from James and the Giant Peach Both that film and book seems like the story took place between 1922 and 1925.

Ms. Mojo:
Actress Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca) cut her knee when she fell on the rock which was real, the injury can't even be seen in subsequent scenes.
Everyone:
Ms. Mojo you might want to check at 3: 40 cause it clearly shows where she was bleeding at her knee in the scene.
All in all. This is a true classic movie and they are all remarkable actors.
Thank you for being a part of my childhood!

They really should've stayed consistent with how much space each vehicle or vessel can seat or house any size group of people instead of making it obvious for the audience that there were going to be fewer people taking a ride on these vehicles/vessels because we already see children and parents disappearing from the group; why bother making it obvious for the wild ride itself?
reply

They should've at least made what patches of meadow they put in to be made of sugar candy to make the chocolate room more believable especially if they were gonna fake a chocolate. river. Like the spearmint (Shakespeare mint from Charlie and the Chocolate factory Lickable Wall Paper Maze levels) grass in the Charlie film.

I do not understand for the life of me why the people who set the stage for filming was a bit lazy with the chocolate room in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory? Gene Wilder on an interview in the bonus features of the film; had said himself that only a third of what was in the chocolate room was edible.
reply

They said the river was mostly water but they did use some cream as well which was expired which made the set smell horrible to where they wanted to gag. And the man who played Augustus said he can still remember how horrible it was to have to fall into that river and taste the horrible expired liquid.

I have always found BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach to be connected to each other; (It was obvious with JATGP) I have suspected that Willy Wonka might've used some of the ingredients that was used to make Frobscottle; and used them to make the fizzy lifting drinks.

Talk about revenge about Nostalgia Critic dumping down the newer series of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory AKA Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.
Imagine showing this To Nostalgia Critic, he would so flip so badly, he would end up screaming like a maniac.

The Rachmaninoff reference was intentionally wrong to show up Mrs. Teevee as an ignorant know-it-all. Director Mel Stuart was a bit dismayed that more people didn't get the joke. He stated he wished he'd used more recognizable music like Beethoven's Fifth.

Something I wonder with the Wonka Plans theory is if he planned the tour to play on the kids weaknesses (Ex. Gum, TV, a chocolate river) but there doesnt seem to be a trial specifically for Charlie unless you count the fizzy lifting drink.

I remember going to the theater to see the original wonka. They had different types of wonka candy for sale. You could win a wonka bar with a gold foil inside. I spent 10 dollars and never won, but ate lots of chocolate. I was 9 now I'm 60.

the suspense is TERRIBLE. I hope it will last! (ironically I played gwendolyn in the importance of being earnest. and veruca salt the same year in college Inot that she said that quote. Wonka did. but still. interesting
reply

I think the misquotes were intentional. Substituting weary for naughty highlights Wonka's weariness with life and his longing to retire - if only he could find a suitable successor (which he just has.

If there was a racially charged issue with the name Charlie in 1971 you'd think it would be the fact that it was the term applied to the Viet Cong in Vietnam (a war that was still dragging on at the time.
reply

Half truth. Dahl disowned the film because he was initially hired to write the script, got kicked off the project and then was replaced by a ghostwriter and was still credited for a something he hated.
reply

Not what begs the question means. You meant raises the question. Its usually good when youre making a video about what people get wrong that you dont get something wrong in the first ten seconds

Mojo how can you miss the fact that grandpa George actually fought and was gassed in world war one. They had to shine a red light in the direction he should look because he had trouble seeing.
reply

You could tell things on there were not real as choc river as loose money noway eating rubber and they all were told or would not have done show like wall paper and wonker boat
reply

The Mozart Rachmaninoff thing was not a movie mistake, it was intentionally put in there as a movie joke; apparently MS Mojo does not look into all bonus features of movies.
reply

Roald Dahl really only liked ONE of the films based on his work while he was alive, and thats the original BFG mvoie, hey pretty much hated all the other ones
reply

It was originally supposed to be a horror movie was it not? Gene Wilder sure made it seem that way. Some of the scenes and themes were indeed disturbing!
reply

Omg! Why so serious! You are like totally mega dissing the jokes! And don't even try to tell me the Snozzle Berries don't taste like Snozzle Berries!
reply

I actually though about the seating of the car when I first saw it wondering where everyone would've sat if they didn't have their misfortunes.
reply

#1 - the only reason Charlie was well-behaved is because if he wasn't, he'd be subjected to a four-grandparent dutch oven in that bed
reply

What I never understood was why that sinister looking guy always came up and whispered in the kids ears and what he was saying.
reply

Ive heard someone say childhood is from 3 to 10 years old, so Im basically done with my childhood if that person is correct
reply

This Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory 1971 it's way better than the 2005 I didn't like that movie at all it was boring
reply

I thought Gene Wilder was outstanding as Wonka. He was funny when he needed to be and straight or deadpan when necessary.
