Top 10 How I Met Your Mother Plot Holes You Never Noticed Ill tell you what the real plot hole was
In the aftermath of what happened in the finale. Robin preferred her career over Barney and now she chose to make it work with Ted. But wouldnt Ted face the same issue what Barney felt in his marriage with Robin? And even if she, agrees to finally settles down and chooses love over career, wouldnt Barney feel cheated that she couldnt do the same for him? She only wanted Ted when she saw how happy he was with Tracy, she never wanted him ever since they broke up back in season 2. That is not a strong foundation to build on. I am all happy for Ted because he met the love of his life, Tracy, had the life he always wanted with her and then he got the woman he wanted all along - Robin as well. The ending makes sense for Ted but it doesnt for Barney or Robin.
Regarding the plot holes in the video -
10. Ted had certain voice overs throughout the series where he was talking to the gang or himself. It would have been all the more confusing to keep him the narrator of the entire show for us.
9. Ted did propose to Tracy before they had kids, so it makes sense he had a ring on when they showed the future during Trilogy time episode. They never explicitly said that Marshall didnt have kids during the said future. It seems as if he didnt have kids during that time isnt a plot hole, its an opinion.
8. At some point, they might have decided to have the same toothbrush.
7. Ill give you one regarding this one. Lilys dad was estranged, he wouldnt be able to pay for the wedding either.
6. Fighting with siblings doesnt really register with oneself as though you have been in a fight. Again, opinions.
5. Lol he could own a car and someone could drive it for him
4. Using gun and being around a psychopath holding a gun are two different things.
3. She already performed her gig. Plus she already dumped a guy who proposed her so close to Barney and Robins wedding. Maybe she wasnt a festive mood once she did her job.
2. How is not knowing Barneys baby mama a plot hole?
Honorable mentions - People drift apart, maybe she didnt have female friends anymore.
1. They did answer the Pineapple incident. It is in one of the bonus episodes. People made a huge deal out of that one.\r\n

not getting the answer to what happened and where did the pineapple come from during the pineapple incident actually makes a lot of sense considering that ted is the narrator of everything that happens in the show. everything that we get to see is what ted is telling his kids. ted mentions at the end of the episode that he never got to know where did the pineapple come from, so that's why they never show it. he can't tell what happened because he doesn't know, so we don't get to know neither. considering all of that, if they included the scene, it would be a plot hole.
also a lot of this plot holes don't make sense lmao. not knowing the mother of barney's baby isn't a plot hole. robin was afraid of the fact that a guy was pointing a gun at her, not of the gun itself. robin could've lost contact with her friends. marvin (marshall's first son) was already born during the present time bit of the trilogy episode, so being a father wasn't news in the future and the fact that marvin doesn't appear in the scene doesn't mean that he doesn't exist. also ted waited for the train a good time and during that time tracy goes to the station, so she left the wedding some time after him. and that's just on the top of my head but most of this didn't make sense

#9 is not a plot hole. 1) Just because Marvin and Daisy (Marshall's kids) aren't IN the scene does not mean they don't EXIST. Do parents take their children everywhere? Why would a father bring his toddlers to where he and his friends would be watching 3 movies nonstop?
2) Just because Ted is WEARING a wedding ring in 2015 doesn't mean he's married. In season 9, we see Ted telling Tracy to TAKE OFF HER WEDDING RING so he could re-propose. The two met in season 9 (shot in 2013-14 but set in 2013) and Ted came back to Farhampton Inn a year later (2014) and proposed. Even tho the unexpected pregnancy postponed the ceremony, they both have been wearing the ring. Thus Ted's Give me back your ring line because THEY WERE WEARING IT.
Furthermore, there's a difference between a plot hole and continuity error. For example, the narrator's voice changing is a continuity error, not a plot hole.
And i noticed a lot of entries on your list are neither, as I just pointed out.

They missed a lot, probably. But there is one I just thought of.
The timing of Marshall's growth spurt.
In the episode where Barney's brother James meets his dad, Marshall takes about how his last growth spurt was in in the 5th grade.
However, listed in the show when Marshall keeps complianing that he can't tell dirty stories because they all include lily, he mentions Jenna Cristali and how he had his growth spurt and broke the play set and fell onto her '2nd base'.
This is just one of so many small continuity errors in the show but then again almost all of them can be covered by the fact that Ted is telling old stories and may be hazy on the details kr make up something in the stories to comedic effect.

My dads not going to pay for that wedding - easily explained as an ironic joke. Tradition states father of bride pays, Marshall made a silly suggestion, she joked re a stereotype that wasnt going to happen anyway.
The harpist - Mickey knew of the wedding (he later reveals hed even planned a speech but wasnt invited. Not only is it plausible, but it fits with Mickeys character that hed get his daughter to cash in such a favour.
Robyns guns - Im sure an unarmed NRA member may be afraid if a stranger they thought was a celebrity reveals theyre just a crazy person by waving a giant gun in front of them.
Honestly, the only one I notice that bugs me is Marshalls fighting experience

its weird how plot holes even exist anyways - do the writers REALLY FORGET what they've done? or is it the result of having different co-writers over the course of seasons and they don't catch it? what about all the actors? five actors who work on the show never notice these things when they're doing the read-through and rehearsals of each episode? none of them ever stop to think hey, that line doesn't sound right - it seems like we did something else last season didn't we? How can plot holes get past so many people of the shows cast and creators?

Ted having a different voice in the future is a good thing in the sense that it helps the audience to easily distinguish Current Ted from Narrator Ted. If the narrator had Ted's usual voice, the audience would have to always scan the scene and Ted's mouth movements beforehand, if he is present in the scene, to understand who is talking right now. You could let Ted talk in a more raspy and wise voice, but ehh, Full House Ted feels like a better solution to me.

Marshall probably considers his tussles with his brothers not as fights but rough housing. Remember things are VERY different in St Cloud Minnesota. They put mayonnaise in their salads with jellybeans and grow to me around 7ft tall.
Also Robin was in a small enclosed place, that makes anyone even a gun expert fearful of another, especially crazy, person with a gun. You cant flee or safely try to take them down.

Actually, not knowing where the pineapple came from isn't a plot hole at all. Ted's telling the story to his kids, the events are not taking place right now, they are story. So, finding out where pineapple came grom would be a plot hole. Like, from who and how did he find out, when he is sitting by his desk and telling the story. It would make no sense, not even mentioning him saying we never find out where it came from

A base player can actually leave quite early. At least where I am from, we have a band for the first two hours but the party keeps going until morning. The band is not invited and leaves after their performance. Also, I agree that it doesnt matter how much you like weapons. In fact, the more you know about them the more you are scared of them being bad handled. That ass hole was pointing the gun at everyone.

I honestly feel like did did this just to make a list I can't believe people are this nitpicky not having questions answered is part of the fun the only thing I have trouble with about How I Met Your Mother Tracy McConnell doesn't get enough time to shine I feel like they should have brought her around more often around season 5 like have Ted meet her after econ 305
reply

The pineapple incident is a much bigger deal. General audience is too young to understand the unspoken meaning. Pineapples are a sign of swingers, so much when presented on decor or clothing upside down its an international invitation to swinging.
The captain, his GF and Ex were swingers. Ted never had anything to fear with sleeping with them.

2 main plot holes for me:
- Marshall's fighting experience
- Barney convinving Lilly to return from SF claiming to be stealing girls for Marshall, but from earlier episodes we know Marshall didn't get over Lilly and start going out with Barney until Lilly was already back in NY

reply

I believe that Bob Saget is the narrator because Ted hears that when talking, and it reverted to Josh Radnor because it was no longer from Teds perspective anymore, but a third outside perspective. Besides seeing Josh Radnor with Sagets voice dubbed over would be weird.
reply

Well people would generally be scared of other people holding a gun. Especially when they don't know the person, so I feel like that and Robin knowing how to use a gun and loving it when its in her own possession isn't a missing plot hole, it's just normal lol
reply

I have a theory about why Saget voiced future Ted. In the end, it turned out that the mother was dead. That would make future Ted a widow. Bob Saget is most famous for his role as Danny Tanner, who is a widow. Bob Saget voicing future Ted was foreshadowing.
reply

Has everyone forgotten that josh Radner (ted) is going to have the EXACT same voice if he narrated as he did in the show? It would be confusing which one is which. Its amazing that they didnt have josh Radner narrate it, wed all be so confused.
reply

Wait a min. obviously if someone unknown is holding a gun infront of u. u wont trust him and will hesitate to be near him, even if u r urself a gun nut. as u want trust that person with the gun. especially when the person is so casual with the gun
reply

Saying Robin shouldnt have been scared of having a gun waved in her face bc she's a gun nut is like saying someone who enjoys watching car crash compiliations or destruction derbies shouldn't be scared of being in a car crash
reply

Terrible video, every theory is a bit of a stretch. Not plausible at all. Of course robin doesnt like having a gun pointed at her in a limo but is more comfortable holding one herself in a shooting range two different scenarios lol
reply

Number 7 makes full sense.
She was saying he wouldnt pay because of the estrangement.
She sounded very frustrated and almost reluctant that her wedding was going to have someone that her dad owed at her wedding.

reply

Im suprised you didnt mention the fact that baney says hes never slept with a fatwomen or a old women even tho he slept with that old nanny. He aslo sleeps with that old lady in that episode open window or something
reply

There are no plot holes - the whole point is it's Ted's memories human memory is unreliable. If there were no inconsistencies that would be a plot hole who can honestly remember every tiny detail from 20 years ago?
reply

OR robbin was scared of not moby because he was a crazy person, she liked guns. but she wasnt a crazy person. she was scared of him because he was a stranger with a gun, acting creepy. O_o every thought of that?
reply

They didn't put the answer to the pineapple incident at the show because at the end of the episode he says We NEVER find out. So, If they give the answer at the final Season, that would be a plot hole. Simple.
reply

also in the episode where Lilly and marshal get twin beds one of lillys rules was no eating in the bed however in the episode where they all see their partners as their parents Lilly eats a sandwich in bed
reply

How is being afraid of a stranger with a gun the same thing as being afraid of guns? Literally makes no sense. I love guns but would be rightfully concerned if Fake Moby whipped out a guj in my limo
reply

Marshalls roughhousing-with-his-brothers scene is clearly a comically exaggerated retell to mock the interactions and pranks among those brothers. NOT MEANT TO BE REALITY. So not plot hole at all.
reply

The pineapple incident would only be a plot hole if they did include where it came from and contradicted his statement we never find out where that pineapple came from
reply

A plot hole for me is what is scooters real name? In Lilly and Marshall's wedding his name was Bill, in Marshall's court case against Brad, scooters name was Jeff.
