My favorite is a league of their own. This movie is about according to a socialite character in the moviea group of young women being plucked from farms across America to see which one could be more masculine. Because they were athletes playing baseball in the 40s.
So the guy who ran the league had a group of beauty pageant women come in to give every woman in the league a makeover which gave us classic lines like
The eyelashes let's thin and separate try to remember ladies there are supposed to be 2 of them.
Color her hair so people can tell this twin is the girl
And my personal what do suggest for this woman, A lot of night games.

I wish I could do this for a living I wish I could have my own TV show called makeover magic find people who want to be made over and have them get made over to the version of themselves that they always wanted but I bet you they already did it and the TV show was canceled because of a whole bunch of people outraged that people should be accepted for who they are and what they look like and blah blah blah blah blah. but there's nothing wrong with somebody help you look the way you want you can still be yourself. and look good too

Its funny how American ugly duckling movies always use an attractive woman, using glasses, curly hair, boring clothes and think that shes an ugly duckling, manipulating young girls/woman into thinking nobody is considered beautiful unless they have a hairstyle, expensive dress, crown etc. urghif only Hollywood grew up and produced powerful messages to woman. Thank god for real strong woman in this world and parents need to show them to their children. Including admirable male examples.

In movies, the girl who changes her looks and becomes very pretty is suddenly liked and sought after by her peers in school. That is not the case in real life. A girl who changes up her look, no matter how dramatically, will not automatically be accepted by the other kids. The other kids are accustomed to her being the outcast, and they usually like it that way. They would still treat her exactly the same as before the change.

Well not even on honorable mention, but I think the transformation of Helen Sharp (Goldie Hawn) in Death Becomes Her, from bookish-nerdy looks into obese-depressed, and bloom into glowing-confident woman, especially when she's wearing a red gown in her book-launch party, should be listed here too.

My favorite will always be Adrian from Rocky. It shows just what confidence can do. Her whole life she was told she was ugly until someone finally looked past her awkwardness and told her she had always been beautiful. She is like my favorite character ever written.

I disagree with Cinderella and Cady, I think the both of them were just as beautiful before they were done up. Plus, it's more important to focus on inner beauty, and not outer beauty. Everyone is beautiful how they are in their own way.

Let's be honest: for many faces, the makeover just brings the beauty nearer to the untrained male viewer. a pretty face is pretty no matter what it looks like, just needs an experienced or at least willing-to-see-it eye.

cinderella story
its so funny how she can put on a mask and change her hair and austin and even her step sisters cant recognise her
like austin talked to her when she was diner girl so i dont know how he couldnt tell

True beauty is subjective and based on society and cultural constructs. That being said. I might have added Lily James in the live action Cinderella. However, Lily looks gorgeous before and after the transformation.

Awesome! Strictly Ballroom is one of the most underrated romantic comedies I have ever seen. Loved it from beginning to end and Fran's transformation was perfectly timed with her growing prowess as a dancer.

People can't see how love before they shine are they worthy of you when you do she looked lovely before sometimes I look at people who shine like I would loved to like them before that.

I thought Lindsay (as Cady) looked much prettier before the makeover. Even after it, she looked better in the low-key outfits than in all the frills and tiny skirts and harsh colours.

We will skip male characters this time. . I just came here from Fall out boys Dance Dance searching, is there even one proper example of this trope applied to a male character?

Am I the only one The Who though Mia Thermopolis looked fine just as she was? Sure, maybe some small tweaks here and there, but I had no problem with her hair and glasses.

nothing wrong being ugly people said i look like a girl when i have long hair so i told my mom to cut it stop me from being ugly and being judge by people

Omg I just realized, 20 years later, that Anne Hathaway had rhinoplasty done in The Princess Diaries. I always thought it was just hair/makeup. Im SHOCKED!

The transformation of Allie Sheedy's Allison in The Breakfast Club should not be included. Allison was much more as herself before being transformed.

These women were beautiful before but were to unimpressive for the others to recognize. All the makeovers did is enhance their beauty.

For me, number 1 is Jamie Lee Curtis (Helen Tasker) in True Lies. Strange you've forgot her in your list. Best transformation ever.
reply

I always loved Anya's What? expression at 1: 59. She doesn't realize her own beauty and that's what makes her all the more endearing.

A CARTOON Anastasia? REALLY? You know there is a film based on a play starring Ingrid Bergman. Much better and it has REAL PEOPLE!
reply

Let me ask, why are these kind of lists always focusing on girl makeovers? There are many stories on boy transformations out there too
reply

I hate this list. All of these women were already attractive before being transformed. The transformation was taking away identity.

Whats it called? The show the one that becomes a princess and has like the grey bucket hat and takes it off and she has beautiful

Character, not appearance, is the most important thing (20. 51. Kinda the opposite of the point being made throughout this?
reply

Hollywood notion of ugly woman - a pretty woman wearing glasses and dressed in an ugly dress and a messy haircut.

I love Danielle, she was so power. I mean she always got what she wanted, and attracting attention without trying.
