Yes, I gave more than ten cause Chuck is always unfairly judged. First off the pilot episode was just introducing the concept of the show so it could get picked up, after it got picked up they quickly changed chucks character and motivations. Notice how they dont refer to Chucks predatory actions in the pilot until season 4 again as they just wanted to shove it under a rug as they changed his whole character and gave him a relationship with Blair, more of a main role and a backstory. In the pilot for instance he and Nate are take the BUS to school (which is a MAJOR oversight as these are rich kids and they never do it again) and Chuck has a mum which is still alive.
Second, the hotel thing. Blair would of sold herself if Chuck asked or if he didnt ask- she even says later in the episode she would of done it if he had just asked her. He never asked her as he didnt want it to obvious to his uncle that she knew about the deal. Either way Blair walked into the room as a consenting adult and knew what she wanted in return (Chuck to be given back his hotel) Earlier in the season Blair asks Chuck to seduce the dean of her college and deliberately makes him take it too far without chuck knowing about the deal all so she can give a speech. Which when you look at it both are very similar situations except Blair went into her situation knowing about the deal and wanted to give more of her self away. Im not defending those actions as it is awful but luckily Blair didnt have to go through with it.
The gg characters arent perfect and all of them do very questionable things, personally I think Dan is the worst and is a borderline sociopath and stalker but lets be honest chair are the only reason we actually finished the show as we loved them and they were both more toxic apart than together

I always liked Chuck on the show because he had in interesting personality and I agree with some of the things youre saying but I dont believe hes that bad of a person. Maybe at the beginning but he changes a lot, mostly because of Blair. Their relationship isnt the most functional, but they both make each other better people. Trading her for the hotel didnt seem so terribly awful to me, mostly because it was her decision, and he knew she would go along with it if she knew. The problem was that he didnt tell her. The one with Lily, he was obviously depressed and Lily did cheat on his dad so that is bad, but understandable. And of course his assaulting of women in the first episode, but I feel like that is kind of separate since a lot of other things, including his character, shifted in the following episodes. He says his mom is alive! Bottom line is, he has done some really amazing things too for people and some obviously worse things but then so has all of the other characters and his arc over the series is amazing, so people shouldnt just write him off as a awful person people only like because hes attractive.

okay to be honest I think chuck was made out as such a bad character or person in season 1 because he was NEVER meant to have character development, he wasnt a main character at the beginning he was a SIDE character, just like in the book, but fans liked him so much they put him in the original cast. Also yes even after in season 1 he made bad decisions but it made it more realistic you cant just be bad for one season and be a hero for the rest lol he was the original antagonist and couldnt be made a protagonist in 2 seasons. This sort of reminds me of damon from TVD, he was always supposed to be bad but the fans loved when he was good with elena so they slowly developed his character to being good. Also even then they would mess up every couple of episodes to show they cant really change who they are no matter how hard they try. They are both selfish so even wanting to be good they found it hard to do the right thing and thats why they would struggle constantly with trying to choose between wrong or right because their intentions were good but the execution was never successful.

I've written a novel once where, surprisingly enough, the two characters there were a lot similar to Chair even though I haven't watched Gossip Girl. It's basically two toxic individuals getting together and they have their on and off times, one where they are just like any couple out there (sweet + romantic) and the latter where they're literally trying to destroy each other's lives. One quote from my novel is, A horrible person deserves to be with someone just as horrible as them. when the girl have truly embraced their relationship. Think of it as Frank and Claire Underwood kind of dynamic.
I made it clear how these two are the villains and that people shouldn't root for this kind of relationship since it can be REALLY harmful. It was fun writing complex characters but damn, I would never want to be in a relationship as toxic as theirs.

People need to realise this show and hundreds of other shows/movies out there are FICTION. Yes they may what have some kind of responsibility to the audience, but the some audience including teenagers have to use their brains and understand the difference between right and wrong and that the show is not real. Even if it shows toxic relationships or bad people out there its because they exist. You cant act like they don't and we have only messiahs out here, and just like in real life in shows characters grow. We don't stay the same throughout our whole and neither do characters.

That he was awful and disgusting once, I can agree. That his behavior was inexcusable, unforgivable and unforgettable, that too. But he had the best redemption arc out of all Gossip Girl characters, and definitely and truly changed for the better, which is something that you cannot say about everybody. In that world full of rats, he looks much better, however.

He apologized to Blair on all of those thing in season 5. He also apologized to Jenny. Chuck had a terrible childhood - missing mother and a father who is the worst role model a child could ever have. This explains his terrible actions. But his emotional growth and maturity throughout the show was remarkable

Ya Chuck started out as a horrible person (which was frequently mentioned in the show - they never pretended like he was good. But he admitted his wrongs, went to therapy, and changed. His evolution over the course of the series is rarely seen in teen dramas so I still enjoy him and the show

She's 16 while he's an adult.
He's like, what, 2 years older? They're basically the same age. But yeah, Chuck is awful and the fact he and Blair still ended up together is pretty unrealistic. I never liked the Blair/Dan pairing, but he was much better for her.

To be fair most of the characters are horrible a good chunk of the time. I still find the show entertaining and I like the majority of the characters. Serena starts to bug me bad because she acts like she's so much better when she's exactly the same as everyone else.

Chuck's character sucked, until late 4th season. Though they put a character arch towards the ending of the show it never redeemed for his old sins. But daymb the character was written so greatly!
